Description: The Driving Creek Cafe is one of the best kept secrets of Coromandel Town - a warm and homely vegetarian cafe with a magical ambiance that may just keep you there enjoying the fine coffee or teas and delicious home made meals and cakes for much longer than you originally intended. Unless of course you're on a train, in which case we will prepare your order with much speed and gusto! You will also find fresh pressed juices, fresh fruit smoothies, and incredible homemade Chai whose recipe was procured after years of dedicated service to a Master Artisan. The Driving Creek Cafe has organic loose-leaf teas and great LaLa organic coffee. Enjoy our freshly baked gourmet cakes and scones, falafel burgers, breakfasts and a great range of toasted sandwiches, tasty beaches and salads. For keeping in contact we do have great unlimited free Wi-Fi. Allow yourself enough time to check out the collection of Mick the Plumber's stunning puzzle boxes showcasing Coromandel's unique tolerance for what may be considered art or drop in for one of our live rants. Discover the peace of our garden with a sandpit and playhouse for the children or put your feet up on the wide sun-drenched deck. Get ready for a treat. We look forward to serving you!

“Entirely Charming”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

This lovely cafe was recommended by our accommodation; it was a much-appreciated suggestion. It is open throughout the day, closed by 5pm. Delicious options for breakfast/lunch/snacks/beverages, in addition to the delightful second-hand book section. Original art (for purchase) on the walls, fresh, local blossoms on the tables and internet access. Local notice board gave a charming feel of the community. Outdoor space was bucolic, but we visited on cool days and enjoyed the warm ambiance of the indoor space.
Definitely worth the visit.

“Querky cafe worth visiting”
Reviewed January 3, 2014

Nice setting, good food, good service. The staff are friendly and the second hand book shop has some interesting titles. Parking is a bit tight, but can park nearby & take a short walk up the hill.

“Eating and Reading Oasis”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

Almost didn't eat due to the distraction of the second hand book shop!!
Glad we did, the food was excellent and so was the service. Lovely grounds and very easily a place to relax and spend some time.

“Hidden gem”
Reviewed December 31, 2013 via mobile

Delicious, funky cafe 5 minutes from the town centre. Great coffee (and I am fussy!). We went here twice in two days when we were in the coromandel and it was excellent both times.

“Athmosphere & Healthy food”
Reviewed December 17, 2013 via mobile

A magic athmosphere in the forest, tasty and healthy juices, natural food. A relaxing break in the middle of New Zealand.
