The Mangrove Manor sits near the edge of a beautifully alive mangrove. We fell asleep to the sound of birds singing their songs and woke in the morning to birds chirping away. It is peaceful and beautiful. The sunset from our room was gorgeous a real photo op! Anne and Peter went out of their way to text us early in the day to ask if they could make dinner reservations for us in town for New Year's Eve and make sure that we would have plenty of options to fill our car with gas on New Years Day. They are warm and friendly and the perfect hosts. The location is great, a mile from town. The house is beautiful, room super clean and comfortable with a great shower. Breakfast was wonderful, homemade bread, muffins, fresh fruit and full breakfast if you like. A very special place in Coromandel Town! Not to miss.

You couldn't ask for more in a B&B. Beautifully appointed rooms with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Spotlessly clean, modern ensuites. Tea and coffee making facilities outside the bedroom door, plus a full cooked breakfast to set you up for the day. Anne and Peter are wonderful hosts who suggested great local restaurants and touring itineraries for every day of our stay. I think we managed to cover every road on the Peninsula!! All in all, a perfect base to explore this beautiful corner of New Zealand. Having stayed in other NZ B&Bs, I can also tell you that the rates at Mangrove Manor are extremely reasonable and are excellent value for money.

    Room Tip: They're all lovely!

We stayed with Anne & Peter during Christmas & Boxing Day. It was very relaxing, as they were. They really made us feel at home. The house is beautiful and located perfectly, near Coromandel Town and just off the 309 Road. Breakfast and muffins by Anne were also very good in other words: must do!

What lovely hosts we found in Anne and Peter. Very welcoming and friendly - in fact, I commented to my husband that if we lived in New Zealand I could well imagine being friends with Anne - very much 'on the same page'! Our room was the beautiful coast room - spacious and clean - with a fabulous en-suite. Already missing my dog at home - it was great to fuss their gorgeous Belgium Shepherd, Chelsea. I was still struggling with the 'time zone' and sleep pattern - but Anne said I was welcome to use the lounge at anytime - day or night, should I wake up. It was just a shame we were only there for one night.

Mangrove Manor is beautifully and practically appointed, very clean, and with a nice central living area where home-made cupcakes were a feature each evening we were there. We stayed two nights at and it was lovely: hosts Ann and Peter could not have been more helpful, from providing recommendations and advice on driving routes, local sights and restaurants/cafes to providing wonderful breakfasts - the highlight of which was Ann's home made passionfruit yogurt. We had booked one room, but our 12 year old daughter was with us, so arrangements were made for us to stay in the closed off and private downstairs area which had a private bathroom and plenty of room for an airbed.

Mangrove Manor is on an access road to Coromandel town, but it's very quiet and the view towards the hills is a gorgeous NZ vista, especially at sunset. Location is fantastic - just a few minutes into the town and very close to route 309 to Hot Water beach and Cathedral Cove. The 309 is mostly unpaved and a little winding, but well worth the drive for its amazing views and kauri trees, and opportunity to buy local Manuka honey. Near the Coromandel end of the 309, we also had a fun encounter with a local (vegetarian) farmer and his collection of piglets, pigs, and chickens out for a stroll.

    In all, a great experience!

Room Tip: If you have a child who can sleep on an airbed, the downstairs area is perfect. Enough space for everyone to spread out!
