We stayed here for two nights as a relaxing end to our two week trip to New Zealand. As it was our last two nights we wanted something a little more special and we definitely got it. The villa was very nice, with a large well-equipped kitchen area, complete with dishwasher, microwave, large fridge freezer and full cooker/oven. It also has a washing machine. As well as the master bedroom which has a very comfy bed and silky soft sheets, there is a loft bedroom upstairs which is perfect for children.
The outside area of the villa was the highlight for us. There are patio doors from both the living area and the master bedroom. We ate dinner and breakfast each morning at the outdoor table and chairs which overlook the beautiful garden and stream (Driving Creek). It feels private and away from it all. There are also two sun loungers which were great and two mountain bikes, complete with locks and helmets, which we wish we’d used but ran out of time. The best part however was the Japanese hot tub outside and the gas BBQ, both of which we made full use of. Some minor annoyances were that the TV is in the corner of the dining area rather than the sitting area which makes it difficult to watch, especially as it is small screen, unless you sit at the dining table. Also, the DVD is a combined hi-fi stereo and bizarrely there was no play button which was annoying when you paused a DVD!
The bathroom is large but the shower is not enclosed which meant most of the bathroom floor got wet which was a bit annoying. There is no separate bath tub, perhaps because of the outdoor hot tub, though this did not matter to us.
David, the owner/manager was really friendly and welcomed us when we arrived (after we called him on the intercom) and had lots of suggestions for things to do in the area and a couple of dining recommendations. Overall a really enjoyable stay in a beautiful location.
