You should not leave Manizales without spending a day at the Hacienda Venecia to learn everything about the coffee growing, harvesting, selecting and roasting processes.

Located in a beautiful and peaceful setting, the visit of the farm itself takes the morning and is ran by knowledgeable, multilingual and pleasant guides. Thereafter, you can have (a very good) lunch at the farm and enjoy the swimming pool for the afternoon.

The owner of the farm is an extremely charming person. He really spent a lot of time with us solving a travel issue which we occured to have on that day and provided us with valuable advice for the rest of our trip !

Although we didn't stay there, the hostel and the guest house look great.

This was such a beautiful and friendly place to visit (and stay)- the best hostel/hotel I came across in my whole trip. The rooms were lovely and very clean, the food was good, and the communal areas were spacious and there were plenty of hammocks on the beautiful terrace for all to enjoy daytime and evening lounging. The food was delicious as was the unlimited coffee. The tour was very informative and great fun. We learned all about different types of coffee, aromas and origins at the hacienda before we began our tour of the plantation and processing plant. There is a great swimming pool and expansive grounds to wander around. Highly recommended.

We did find it very difficult to find having picked a taxi up from the station so I would highly recommend contacting them in advance as they are more than happy to help arrange transport for you.

We had the opportunity to choose between an English or Spanisch spoken tour. The guide spoke good English and answered al the questions we had.

Dislike: I though the group was really big! More than 20 people. We also had lunch after the tour there, it costed 10 000 COL, but that was too much. Normally you get a lunch menu for that price, but we only got a main course (soup) and a desert. We were still hungry after our first bowl!!! Some had some more, but when we wanted to take more there wasn't any more food. Disappointing!!!

While touring the coffee region we tried 3 different coffee tours (we love coffee ...) and this one is by far the best. A friend recommended we stay at the Finca which only added to the fantastic experience.
Juan Pablo and his team are friendly, knowledgeable and experienced and they make you feel right at home.
This tour gives you a great insight into all things coffee both at a global and Colombian level - and having a professional expresso machine with coffee roasted on the spot and unlimited access was brilliant.
