The lady running Hostal Palogrande is a lovely lady who will make you feel at home, help you out with your traveling plans and do everything she can to help you out. The ladies cleaning the house are also super-nice. I just wish she put a little bit more effort in the furnishing of the rooms. First of all, if you want to get some quality sleep, you should ask for one of the rooms downstairs. The rooms upstairs are fairly small , especially when they fit 2 beds in them and look more like military barracks. The mattresses are basically a little bit thicker than the a toothpaste box (seriously) and they are foam mattresses so I had a backache all the time I spent there. The 2 rooms on the first floor facing the front windows, where the kitchen is, are right off the street so you can hear every single thing going on out there, including the TV in the restaurant downstairs. These 2 rooms were basically one bigger roo that was separated by what looks like a paper wall, I mean you can literally stick your hand between the 2 rooms, so there isn't much privacy and you can basically hear the people in the ¨next¨ room breathe. They are also attached to the main common area so if there are guests in the house you will hear their every single move no matter how hard they try at being quiet. When I first walked in (because this is another place that will tell you that everything is booked when in fact, if you stop by, you'll find out that is not so), she showed me a different, bigger room downstairs, then when I moved in she put me into one of those upstairs because she had a big group of people coming. for the same price. The good thing about this place is that it's super clean (bathroom, shower, kitchen etc..) and it could not be in a better location, I mean you can find everything you need (banks, Internet, restaurants) literally downstairs (which helps a lot especially during rainy season). A little more space in the rooms would be nice as well as a little lamp, as the neon light can have a ghostly feeling, especially at night. This is a good place if you care about location first and foremost and if you want something very affordable that is not a hostel. Like I said the lady running the place is lovely. And wi-fi did work all the time I was there. If you get a chance to stop by, aske to see the rooms and stick the the room you agreed on. If you can't, ask for a room downstairs.
