“Good vacation but rooms for improvements.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2013

Our group (5 families - 10 adults - 8 kids between 8 to 15 year old) had fun at the resort as we pretty much entertain ourselves.
Food:
- Buffet: needs more varieties for all meals.
- Silk: good.
- Calabash: good.
- Outdoor dining (2 nights/week): excellent.
- Pool grill: excellent.
Entertainment: next to nothing.
Room: nothing in the small fridge. Bottled water used was not replenished unless asked.
Hike to market: only if you just want to see local life or have a good exercise. Souvenirs can only be bought from vendors allowed in resort twice a week.
Excursions: don't forget to check for discount when you are a large group. We got 2 kids free.
We know everybody did their best, but a few changes would make it more fun for guests: more nightly entertainment, more games for kids in the evening, more diverse menu at the buffet.

We spent two (2) nights at this resort where we had such a blast!! When we arrived we walked the grounds while waiting be check in to our room which by the way was way before the specified check-in time. The front staff appreciated the fact that our flight was delayed and we were exhausted upon arrival and therefore hastened our check-in time at no extra cost. I especially loved the donkeys which we discovered on the first day. They are clean and safely attached to the coconut trees which lined the pathway to the paintball court.
In addition to the donkeys, we had so much fun when we tried the two slides located close to the main swim up bar. One of the slides are below ground level which adds to the excitement as one travels down its windy track. What we also enjoyed fully was the lazy pool which most resorts do not have. The fact that we each had our own inflatable tube, laid in them and just sailed down the path at our own 'lazy' pace, was indeed a calming experience.
On our last day, I had a full-body message at the Spa and the message therapist was extremely professional and pleasant. Her warm personality was definitely yet another example of the staff's courtesy.
Finally, the bar located close to the beach was one with a difference. It is decorated with mainly T-shirts which belonged to the many guests who visited this resort. It had the names and dates of visits together with ONLY positive comments about this resort and spa. My boyfriend and I felt the urge to add to such a unique display. We would, without a doubt, re-visit this resort in the future.

Room Tip: We stayed in a premium ocean view room located in the 'harmony' section which is specificall...

I spent a week at coconut bay and didn't want to return! It was the best vacation ever! Though the food at the main restaurant food was a bit bland, the creole restaurant 'Calabash' made up for it (you need to reservations). The hotel was beautiful clean and the rooms comfortable.

I eloped with my husband and got married at the hotel, and let me say the staff was more than accommodating even for the almost impossible!
Onita, the wedding coordinator, Ed Evans, Skeet, Shirley, Barbara and Honey made our experience an unforgettable one. Make sure and take the horse back riding with Mr.Magic.
We are definitely returning, just counting down the days to our next vacation!

We spent 3 weeks at Cbay last July for the second time. As returning guests, we felt like we were actually going back home.
As so many others have mentioned, one of the strongest points of this place is its staff. They are EXTREMELY friendly and always ready to help you. Mark, the manager, personally answered all our questions and proved really efficient.
Our two kids (aged 3 and 6) had a GREAT time at Cocoland, even though they don't speak a lot of English (we're from Switzerland and speak French natively). This kids club was good last year, and they made it even better. Mia and her team treated Noe and Daphne so well that they didn't want to leave and still talk about movie nights, splash times and other great events they won't forget.
While the kids were having fun, we -the parents- had a blast kitesurfing. We were "advanced beginners" when we arrived and ended up being totally independent riders. In other words, the lessons we took from the Portuguese squad (Bruno, Luis and Pedro) in charge of the kitesurfing center were just amazing. These guys were so friendly and so professional at the same time that we felt really secure and made lots of progress in just a few days. There's also some good windsurfing equipment and I had loads of fun riding alone on the ocean.
We had two ocean-view communicating rooms and they were totally adequate. This year, there were free water bottles in the room and they were changed every day. Of course, this is not a 5-star hotel, so don't expect any luxury there, but who needs that when the location is so beautiful in itself? When you're staying at Cbay, you don't feel like staying in your room too long anyway; there's so much to do and enjoy outside.
The food was sometimes a bit basic (e.g. not a lot of seafood) and not very varied, but you can always find something good to eat. It's even very good at the specialty restaurants (especially the Calabash where they serve local food). The drinks at the bar were also great. Believe me, they don't water down your cocktails at Cbay and you never wait too long before getting a drink.
All in all, it was a perfect vacation. Of course, the pool terrace looks a bit old (it's pure concrete) and the line at the grill is often too long, but remember no place is ever perfect. In any case, we just can't wait to go back, next summer or even before!

Room Tip: The higher the room, the better the view!

We had a wonderful holiday at this hotel in June 2013 - there is absolutely nothing negative that we can say - apart from the weather which was pretty dreadful - sun shone sometimes.
The staff and the service that we received was second to non - food, drink, entertainment was just A1.
During our visit we went to the rain forest to do some zip wiring - in my 70th year it has helped me to overcome my fear of heights - this is a must when you stay at Coconut Beach.
The rooms were very clean and tidy - we had a chambermaid called Pearl who was a real 'gem' - she left us little notes every day to ensure that we were happy - one of the reasons for this holiday was to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary - she picked up on this and sent us a special little note to give her congratulations. The staff made our anniversary very special - we went into one of the restaurants where the staff really made a fuss of us.
We flew our with British Airways and can highly recommend them - they also made our flight particularly special and we were given champagne both going out and coming back. This was a really fantastic holiday all round.

Room Tip: Anywhere in this complex is good

We stayed for 2 weeks at Coconut Bay at the beginning of August. It was fantastic. The food in the buffet restaurant was always good and in the speciality restaurants absolutely fabulous. We had a brilliant room on the top floor of the Harmony side with great views of the Atlantic and a special thanks must go to Shirley for looking after our room so well, making sure the minibar was well stocked with Piton, and keeping it clean throughout our stay and also to Ken for the lovely plate of nibbles that greeted us every evening when we came back and his general cheery and helpful nature whenever we saw him or needed anything. In fact everybody at this resort is so cheerful and friendly and really makes you feel welcome. Rarely have we ever stayed at a place where everyone always seems to have a smile on their face. If there was one downside it was the fact that the beach was not as you would hope a Caribbean beach would be due to the amount of seaweed washed up every day and floating in the sea. However to be fair every day it was cleared as best as possible. That apart we had a marvellous two weeks and would certainly recommend Coconut Bay to anyone. Thanks to everyone who helped make our time there so memorable.

Room Tip: Choose 4th floor Junior Harmony Suites for the best service and views as well as being the child fre...

After our recent stay at the Coconut Bay Resort and Spa I would like to say that we had a wonderful time and would recommend this hotel to anyone. The view from our balcony was superb, the food very good and all the facilities were excellent. I would like to thank all the hotel staff who could not do enough for us and especially our housemaid Pearl whose towel creations were superb. Chris & Val Coleman

Room Tip: Our room on the 3rd floor had excellent views
