“The best and the worst all rolled into one...”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

Well, we can't agree more with previous reviews in the fact that the 5min transfer after a longish flight is great start. The hotel is on a beautiful beach which was cleaned every day whilst we were there.

With this hotel it seemed to manage to combine to give you something great and follow it up with something poor, or the other way round.
Such as the a la carte restaurants, with the Calabash where our table nearly collapsed then we were moved tables and treated to one of the best hotel meals we have had on our travels. Our visit to the Asian, however was a lovely looking restaurant but we waited a very long time for our meal which arrived cold and was disappointing. In the middle of this we had embarrassed staff trying to fill time badly. Also to mention though, the Capri Italian restaurant which did not disappoint at all.
The adult "harmony" pool was nice with twin sunbeds that revolved to face the sun...nice touch, then the bar area would spontaneously erupt into drunken football songs ...not so harmonious!!
In the middle area there was a self-service soft drinks machine which is a great idea but it would be out of diet coke or strawberry juice or both, or have the flavours but no gas.
The toilets in the lobby area were smart with the added effort of palm leaves and flowers round the urinals then the small loo by the beach had a hole kicked in the wall and graffiti like you'd expect in a down town railway station.
I won't go on as you get the idea. I also understand there is some refurbishment going on this year but what this place needs is a bit of care with what it's got.

All this said, we did enjoy our holiday; the gym was nice, getting pool towels was easy, lots of sunbeds, no restrictions with restaurant bookings, the beach was nice - especially if you went for a walk out in either direction, Wi-Fi connection in the lounge was a bit hit and miss (but free), the bar queues were never that bad, breakfast was good (normal AI fare), rooms large, all in all some aspects of the hotel scored a 1 and some a 5 which is why we ended up giving it a 3.

It was a bit odd though, for some of our holiday that the whole hotel was geared up towards an American cheerleader stay which seemed to affect entertainment and meal arrangements.

Also, we made a bit of a mistake - we booked a Splash room thinking it would be quieter at night (even if noisy during the day) as there would be small children going to bed early. However there was sometimes loud music coming from the stage right outside the rooms which went on till midnight. Bit annoying.

traveled for the first time to st lucia love love the country very beautiful and green, stayed at the coconut bay resort which is only 5 mins from the airport, if i knew, would have taken a cab which would be much cheaper.
when we arrived at the hotel a warm welcome and the service was great, rooms were clean and food was great different themes each day
very disappointed could not use the beach at all due to the seaweed was very smelly which attracted alot of flys ps: if you walk out the hotel about 15min walk there is a very beautiful blue water local beach

Good Day Char and thank you for taking the time to post your review on your stay here at Coconut Bay. We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and the exceptional service the staff provides to our guests. I am sorry to hear about your views on the beach. We do get our share of Turtle Grass washing up on our beach as we are in a protected turtle nesting portion of the island. We do have 2 tractors that work the beaches all day keeping them clean and neat for our many guests who frequesnt the beach and the sea. I hope you did get an opportunity to walk the 1 mile of uninterrupted beach that is our property. We do have some beautiful pristine areas.

We hope you will visit us again and thank you for being our guest

Cheers!

We went as a group on a much needed vacation and boy, we weren't disappointed.

Pro's :
1. The Hotel is only 5 mins away, so if you were on a long flight like Gatwick/Heathrow or had to take connecting flights.. this is the ideal hotel to arrive at the shortest time
2. Great Staff.. always warm and friendly
3. The Food is fantastic with a great selection to choose from. They went alllll out.. no cheapness :)
4. The Hotel was clean and the rooms were well kept
5. There are many activities to enjoy with lots of pools
6. The hotel had planned daily activities which kept you occupied
7. The hotel itself is maintained and not run down
8. It is away from the buzz of life, so if you are looking for a quite hotel, this is just the place
9.Well suited for a family vacation.. there is something for everyone :)
10. There is a tour company right at the hotel where you can organize sightseeing
11. There are 2 duty free shops at the hotel

Con's.
1. The Beach is not nice to bathe in.. it is rough and laced with sea weeds :(
2. If you are the party type tourist and love clubbing, the hip places are very far away and very costly to go from the hotel. I suggest you stay on the north side of the island which is more active
3. There was one racist staff member that we met, but I didn't that uneducated woman damper my vacation.

So that's my best and worst.. I was honest.. in all.. if choosing here.. you will have a great time :)

I have to say our arrival got off to a bad start, they didn't have our reservation and Simalia at the front desk is less than friendly. She never once smiled or explained anything about the resort to us or gave us our $250 resort credit that we asked for and she said she would give to us twice.
Everyone else that works the front desk is also the same way, which is surprising because that is your first impression of your hotel.
We also weren't so excited about our room location which was room 136. Needless to say you hear everything that goes on in the lobby, music, drunk crying people walking by all through the night etc. However, Kieta kept our room spotless everyday and loved her touches of fresh flowers on the bed and notes to us.
The food was amazing with daily themes for the buffet. The wait staff greeted you with a smile every day and made an attempt to visit with you too. The theme night at the pool is a little much, it reminds me of a cruise ship. They try to get you to sit with other tables of people and then they have corny stage shows. If you are not the type that likes that kind of stuff I would advise making dinner reservations at one of their other restaurants on those nights.
The bartenders are the best, they are super friendly and are more than willing to make you any concoction you ask for. If you want some entertainment from your bartender head over to the adult pool bar for Junius. He is such a fun loving guy who will sing to you, make you some great drinks and more.
The grounds are kept immaculate, the ladies at the tour desk are more than willing to find you a tour on the island, or a taxi driver to take your for a drive where ever you want.
We would definitely come back to this resort again.

Room Tip: ask for a room Harmony side 4th floor - quieter and better view of ocean

Our trip to coconut bay has gotta be one of the best holidays I've ever been on! I said I'd never travel 8 hours again on the plane on the way there, but after spending an amazing 2 weeks there I would definitely go back every year!! So worth the money! Every single person that works there are so friendly and polite, and will do anything to make it a holiday to remember! Honey was one of my favourite, bringing drinks to us while we were catching the rays, such a sweet, kind hearted man, he topped of the holiday. :)! Miss him dearly! If i could hire him at home, i certainly would! Food was lovely, a good selection to choose from, and all the restaurants were amazing, the Italian one being my favourite! Such a clean hotel, never been to a place like it! And I would advise anyone and everyone to book up and go to Cbay! Will definitely be returning soon!

Just got back from a fab 2 week stay at coconut bay! june 2013
We had a few problems with our room when we first got there but they were sorted very fast and the hotel is refurbishing in sept 13.
The hotel is so close to the airport which is such a plus with young kids! and no problem with aircraft noise.
The hotel staff really do go out of there way to help and are so friendly and so good with the children.
A special mention to uleia/lisa king in the kids club that my daughter loved! and ania - all the kids club staff were great! and they do loads of activities with the children from beach olympics in the day to camp night in the evening!!
Our room was kept very clean everyday.
The food was amazing the best ever all inc food i have ever had!!
The adults only area was so peaceful and a big shout out the junias the bar man who was so funny and made the best dirty bananas ever!!!!!!!
I work in travel and will be happy recommend this hotel to my clients!!!!!! - cant wait to go back!

This was my first visit to St. Lucia with a group of co-workers. It was a very interesting one. Once we got there from the airport which was about a 4 minute drive, we were welcomed nicely. We were greeted with delicious tropical drinks served out of coconuts. We got there at 1:30 pm but were not able to get into our rooms until 3:30 pm. One of our party got into their room at 6:30 pm. Our room was very clean but the toilet was another issue. Maybe because the plumbing was old. Once cleaned it smelled ok but after 2 flushes it smelt like it hasn't been cleaned properly for a while. The beach views are amazing. Loved walking on the beach every day. Some of the staff were very friendly but I did notice the way some of the staff responded to some of our group members were not the best. I guess it was because we had complained over certain things prior. For example, one of my group members asked for house wine, he said she had to pay then she told him that she’s had the wine for 2 days prior then he just shrugged his shoulders as if he was saying (so what, oh wells). Regardless if that wasn’t his intentions it just came off rude.

Food and Entertainment

I was expecting food that would reflect their culture but I hardly seen that. We had to get a taxi to go out in the town and local festival to enjoy the food. There was hardly any entertainment at night. I would have expected more from the resort especially if you’re vacationing to a different country. Thank goodness we were able to entertain ourselves. Overall, I think our experience could have been better.
