“Very relaxing”
Reviewed December 14, 2009

We stayed here for 2 weeks as our main holiday & had a great time. Firstly we were very fortunate with the weather which can be make or break for a Scottish holiday. The whole resort is very low key with wooden cabins dotted through a birch woodland and a loch at the centre of the site. For those interetested in nature there is a lot of wildife around including red squirrels.
The cabin was very clean & well equipped, though not hugely spacious.
The main centre to the site included reception, bar/clubhouse serving meals and with some evening entertinment, a smallish heated swimming pool with sauna & steam rooms, tennis courts, gym & laundrette.
The surrounding area has a great deal to offer being on the edge of the Cairngorm National Park. Our kids especially enjoyed the 'Landmark' woodland theme park, which is only about a mile away in Carrbridge and the Pony Treking centre in the village.
Highly recommened for those who do not like overly commercialised holidays, but appreciate some comforts.

Just returned from lochanhully and had a great relaxing week.
The log cabins are well equipped and clean, considering the site only has 50 cabins plenty of low key activities if you want some thing to do.
The pool, gym, walks, fishing, tennis court and the bar/restaurant give ample opportunity to get involved in an activity.
There are also lots of days out to tempt you off site, the mountains, Inverness, Lochness and Landmark activity park in Carrbridge its self.
Its a short walk into the plesant village of Carrbridge which has a small selection of shops and a couple of hotels to eat and drink at.
The best eating place we found was 8 mile away in Aviemore, "The Cairngorm Hotel" did great food and most people seemed to head there.
All things considered I'd recommend this holiday centre to families who like to get out and about in the fresh air, not recommended if you prefer large holiday parks with lots of organised activities, entertainment staff dressed up as cartoon bears or tigers etc and a busy club house with loud music.
The staff at Lochanhully were all very plesant and helpful too.
Just be aware that the electricity charges in the cabin could get a bit step, we paid £20 for a week, but seldom had the heaters on as it was a nice sunny week, but you do need to heat hot water and cook with the electricity though.

Accomodation was fair. Unfortunately for me think there had been a pet in the cabin at some point which irritated my asthma as well as the electric heating.

Shower was strong (once we realised the switch had to be on outside the bathroom).

Pool was a basic but ideal for our kids (3 months, 3 and 5) - changing room was ridiculously warm tho!

Food was OK in restaurant nothing to write home about although staff were nice. Went to the Scottish night which the kids loved - one minor point was the fact the life guard was serving the food and still had his lifeguard tshirt on!

Overall we had a good time but friends of ours had rented a cottage in Aviemore for £100 less which was a lot more luxurious and roomy (although didnt have the pool)

We chose this as it allowed pets and wanted a break between Xmas and Easter. The chalets are 2 bed self catering and were adequate for our stay although they did get extremely cold at night even with heating on. The site itself is lovely and is set in a forest with plenty wildlife to see, we had a red squirrel at our window everyday looking for food along with ducks and other birds. The facilities are severly lacking maintenance, the swimming pool was only open 2 of the 7 days we stayed and even then it was freezing cold. the sauna, steam room and changing areas also needed a complete overhaul and I wouldn't have been happy If i owned there. Summary :- Great place to rest and explore from but thats about it. Watch out for electricity charge also, way too expensive and you need to budget for that

Just returned from a weekend in Lochanhully and wanted to write this straight away. first impressions are of a nice park set around a nice open lake
The cabin could be done with some upgrade but are good basic accommodation. Lodges are not hugs but do have 2 bedrooms - 1 with bunks so are fine for a family.
Cleanlieness is spot on, the staff obviously take a pride in their place of work - outdoor areas well groomed and paths cleared in snow. A 15min drive to Aviemore, 5 mins to Carrbridge and the main road north to Inverness.
The clubhouse has a good menu and a well srtocked bar with entertainment on most nights and an area for the kids to play. (pool table, dart board, ping pong.)
The leisure facilities are adequate and I suppose what you would expect from a park with only 50 chalets. There was a pool, sauna and steam room as well as sun beds. All were pretty clean although could be done with modernisation.
All in all this is a fine place to lay your head and somewhere to go away from the beaten track.
A plus for us was that you could use the facilities at Dalfaber country club in Aviemore for free as this is part of the same group of companies.

What a fantastic short break! The idea was to spend a weekend sampling some of the beautiful scenery that Scotland has to offer and whilst a little off the well beaten Aviemore track this resort is by far one of the most nicest places you could possibly stay. Set in beautiful woodland it was self catering heaven! With plenty of room in the chalet and excellent on site facilities there is plenty to keep all the family amused including a swimming pool and gym, a pool table and bar, fishing and tennis, and of course all the nearby countryside. The chalets were spotless on arrival with everything you would need all you have to take is food and yourselves. Would definitely recommend and will most certainly be returning in the future. A late deal was found on the LateRooms website.
