Vey quite resort that looks like macdonald resorts forgot about it.

Accommodation very small, no way could 6 stay there. No wi fi in rooms like advertised.

All just seemed very run down.
Check in is 1700 hours!

The loch, is a big concrete basin pond.

Very disappointed.

Positives: the very near some beautiful river walks and u can use the nearby macdonald resorts which are much better.

We booked here 1 week before the start of a last minute week away. Wanted a lodge with a hot tub but left it too late. What a great deal we got by calling rather than booking on line. Ok, if you read all the reviews most of what is said re darkness of lodges etc are true. On initially entering I was filled with dread. The lounge area is,very gloomy. However, the lodge was spotless. Great full size fridge freezer. Dining area is a conservatory. You're not overlooked despite close proximity of the lodges. The main bedroom and twin room (pull out bed Nader single) were smallish but clean and bright. Tonnes of storage. My Husband and I were sleeping on the sofa bed in the lounge. Put it this way, I couldn't wait to get home to my own bed. However the double and the 2 singles we very comfortable indeed. A couple of gasses of wine helped aide the sleep.

The kids activities (no charge) were really great. Our 9 and 6 year old had a ball. The pool, sauna and steam room were great too. Not crowded at all. Although small we found them fine. Lovely walks and the local wildlife was great. We had daily visits from birds, red squirrels and ducks (tiny ducklings too). Staff were extremely helpful and very kind offering lts of additional information.

Towels are supplied in your lodge and also at the pool.

Ok so the lodge was a wee bit small for 3 adults and 2 children. It was a bit dark inside but we were out and about all of the time so the gloom of the lodge didn't really matter. Would definitely recommend a stay here. You're far enough from the hustle and bustle of the larger resorts to enjoy the peace and quiet yet close enough to everything to make the most of a spectacular part of Scotland.

Room Tip: We stayed in number 3. Would liked to have stayed in 6, 7 or 8. These are further away from receptio...

My wife and I spent a week in Lochanhully as part of an RCI timeshare. It’s a small wooded complex full of identical cabins situated around a small loch.

The cabins are old, tired and rather cramped – they supposedly sleep 6 but I have no idea how you’d squeeze that many people into one. We went in August but the cabin was cold when we arrived and it took a while for the heaters to take effect.

The kitchen was well equipped and the small living room just about adequate (though the uncomfortable leather-look sofa must be very cold in winter). The double bedroom was dusty and was very small - too small - with barely enough space to walk round the bed, so we used the single bedroom to store bags and most of our clothes. The bathroom was basic, cold and mouldy in places.

The dining area in each cabin is a conservatory which allows you to enjoy the view if you have one. Most of the cabins are too close together – the grounds aren’t that extensive - so many people seem to get a view of a road or a neighbour – only a handful get lake views. Leaving bird feeders in the trees around each cabin is a nice touch – though most were damaged and you have to pay at reception for more bird food.

Each cabin has a parking slot but some are narrow and very tight to access even with a small car.

Staff did their job but were not very warm. Facilities are very minimal and seem to consist of just an ancient tennis court, a small kids play area and a clubhouse (which is basically a fancy name for an old bar). The site is a 15 minute walk to Carrbridge which has some basic amenities but you’ll need to go further afield (e.g. Aviemore) for groceries and restaurants.

Compared to other such woodland reports we’ve stayed in elsewhere this was poor and we won’t go back.

Accommodation is in wooden lodges, all have conservatory/dining room from where we spent hours just watching the woodpecker and red squirrels. The lodges are not situated too close together and being in a woodland setting you feel very private. Only a very short walk into the beautiful village of Carrbridge. Did not want to leave.

We stayed for a mid week break in July as part of our trip round Scotland. The receptionist was OK but gave the impression it was a hotel we were checking into. There was little information and no map of the grounds - there was more in the lodge but still no map. There was a conservatory attached were the table and chairs were positioned but the room was cold due to the fact it was a conservatory. The settee was not comfortable. The bed was OK but the duvet was exceptionally heavy and the room very small. You are charged for electricity by meter reading which was very hit and miss. We read the meter when we arrived but that did not conincide with the charge. On querying it, it was instantly cut by 50% - when they learnt we were only there for 4 nights and not 7. I think we were expected to pay for the previous occupants' last night of heat and light alongwith the cost of heating the water during the days we weren't there. I think they should remove the extra charge.

Lochanhully Woodland Club has been created to blend in with the natural surroundings, and it does this very well. All the chalets are wooden, as is the main building, and scattered around the site in small groups, each chalet having its own numbered parking spot nearby. There are squirrels, rabbits, ducks who come and visit the chalet at mealtimes, bird feeders dotted about and a loch with trout fishing. The whole ambience of the place is peaceful, and there is a clubhouse, indoor pool and small gym for the use of residents - essential in winter months.
We would certainly recommend this resort and hope to visit again one day in the future.

Room Tip: The chalets are not luxurious and rather dark inside, but they are very well equipped and also have...

Stayed here for a week in June 2013. Very nice resort (grounds well kept) but living accommodation is tired, dated and very cramped. Our unit supposedly slept 6 but I would not wish to use this for more than three. Rooms are very small (especially room with double bed) and we were grateful for the conservatory which allowed us to feel like we had a bit more space and airiness. Nice clean pool on site. Not dreadful but not the standard that we've come to expect from this type of timeshare resort.
Some units have been refurbished and they may offer a more pleasant experience.

Room Tip: Request a re-refurbished unit. Beware of making use of the stated capacity. Space is at a premium e...
