“Half a mushroom!”
Reviewed June 8, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here for a wedding, the outside patio of the room was filthy with bird mess everywhere, the most amazing issue was after first mornings breakfast we had a full mushroom the second morning we were given half a mushroom with our full English? I mean talk about cut backs! Never again.

friendly and helpful staff to welcome us, and continued to be helpful all weekend, nothing was too much trouble. The wedding was held in a beautiful room, and then the reception room was nicely decorated and we had lovely food too. Our bedroom was quirky and individual, clean and airy. In particular Deborah the manager and Trevor could not have done any more to make the day perfect. We even had warm sun, which meant we could sit out and enjoy the gardens and fish pond. the children found a meercat, fairy door, kitten in a flowerpot and lots more little characters hidden around the hotel grounds and enjoyed trying out all the unusual wooden seats in the garden too which kept them entertained for ages. Thoroughly reccomended !!!

Room Tip: no two rooms are the same so trust the staffs judgement.

Everything you would expect from a 14th Century Tudor manor. Lots of character and yes, a few squeaky floorboards! We stayed here with a large group (28), for four nights and as far as I know, no one had any complaints, which says a lot. The rooms are all very individual, so difficult to give a general comment but our mid price room was a good size, with plenty of storage space and a modern bathroom. Some of the furniture is old but that adds to the character. As it is an old building there are no lifts, so anyone with mobility issues should definitely mention it when booking, as there are groundfloor rooms.

The location, in a small village set back from the road, means it is very quiet but you do really need a car to get around.

We ate breakfast in the dining room and for dinner every night we were all together in a private room. The food was extremely good. The variety and standard of meals was much higher than you would expect from a three star hotel. Portions were on the small side (if you have a big appetite) but more than adequate when eating three courses.

There is plenty of parking.
The free wifi was much appreciated. It was very reliable and reasonable speed.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
All in all a very enjoyable stay.

We chose this hotel as it is only just outside Stratford and we had tickets to the Theatre. It was perfectly situated. We had used our Tesco vouchers to stay here. From the moment we arrived we felt relaxed and well looked after, there was plenty of parking and check in was quick and easy. We stayed in room 14 (in the main house), which was up the stairs - the room was so lovely, quirky heights of ceilings (lovely tall ceilings) - mullion windows - a 4 poster bed - everything we wanted in a hotel in a hotel in an old house. The room was so clean - the bathroom a good size and the tea and coffee making facilities just right. We liked the fact there were 2 very comfortable chairs and a desk and dressing table all in keeping with the period of the house. We love staying in hotels with real character, a chance to stay in beautiful big old houses. This fit the bill perfectly. Breakfast the next day was so tasty and there was plenty of food. It was nice to be served freshly cooked food as well as having cold food at the buffet. We had dinner in the restaurant on our second night, really could not fault this, everything was beautifully cooked and well presented. I had the scallops and the chicken followed by the creme brûlée - delicious. The wine was well priced as were drinks from the bar. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is visiting Stratford and who does not mind a short drive in, and who appreciates staying in a wonderful old house, with character.

We travelled from Yorkshire and our friends travelled from Bournemouth to meet at the hotel. Our deal included tickets to Warwick Castle which was brilliant. We ate in the restaurant on both nights and throughouly enjoyed the food and the service was excellent. Angela in front of house was extremely efficient and welcoming. We will certainly be back.

Room Tip: We stayed in the main building - room 2 - fab.

Very clean and comfortable room , was in the old granary (extension part). Bathroom modern and clean, extra shelves for soap bags etc. would be welcome. Bit of noise from room ustairs but a peaceful place to stay. Breakfast was good and we liked the little bar for bar meals. Service very good. Would stay again.
