“Great Relaxed Evening”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2012

Went for a night out with friends and as usual food was great the four of us had different dishes and all were well cooked and presented .
Not very busy for a Thursday night so not much of an atmosphere felt you had to talk in whispers as so quite .
Went for drink in the bar first but very quite again little atmosphere

“Service with a smile, quality ingredients, portions sized for mice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2012

The Ginger Pig has long been a good solid choice of venue but either I am getting greedier or their accountants are getting tighter. The size of the Pithivier was utterly starter size with a main course cost and menu location. Come on the vegetarian ingredients would not even have cost that much. If you are seeking exotic flavours you won't get them, this is British with a twist and the twist would be a few chestnuts so no fusion food going on. The puddings were pretty to look and plenty big enough at but again not too exciting and the chocolate brownie was deemed not less than chocolatey and a bit dry. Staff were great, the coffee good, the atmosphere nice but don't go if you are hungry...(That said the Sunday roasters amongst us were happy enough). Park at King Alfreds by the sea.

“Good food but overpriced”

The food here was great but overpriced also can tend to be a little noisy if you seat in the main restaurant area

“A lovely atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2012

Great food which is always exciting and varied. I would say the menu isn't huge (although all delicious) so if with a picky eater I would check the seasonal menu before visiting.

“Underwhelmed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2012

Midweek, quiet night, not busy at all, entrees were lovely but mains @ £18.50 (steak with chips and 2 onion rings and no vegetables) had to be sent back as were cold. Shame as otherwise good. Bar lacks atmosphere, we stayed for post dinner drinks in bar and were hastened to order last drinks after 10pm as staff were keen to clean toilets, coffee machine and close up (their words).
Could be incredibly charismatic and comfortable place but not sure if it is bar or restaurant and thus suffers an impasse in between. Relax and enjoy the space whatever you are, people need to feel welcome regardless of just a drink or a 3 course meal.
