“Altogether a very disappointing experience”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2013

Even with a reduced corporate rate, this tiny room represented very poor value for money

I suggest the manager visits room 11 and listens to the noise coming from the faulty machine in the bathroom. He should go in the night and imagine trying to sleep.

Breakfast starts too late for guests who need to start work at 9.00 am. The timings are given as 8.00 - 9.00 am! I thought this inflexibility went out in the 80’s.

'Arrivals after 6.00 by appointment only' is not helpful if you have to travel some distance after a day at work. He sent me 2 emails stating this and twice I sent emails to say I may be late and would this be a problem. They were ignored. On the day I made one call to say that my train had been delayed and I still had someone phone and ask me what time I would be arriving. Understandable if I was arriving in the middle of the night; I arrived at 6.40 pm. This should not have presented any problems to a hotel.

Altogether this was a very disappointing experience. This is the first time in my life that I have written a negative review for a hotel so it is not something I do lightly. I wrote a letter to the manager 4 days ago and he chosen to ignore me. It is so clear that he doesn’t take customer feedback seriously. I can only conclude that this hotel is run for the convenience of the management. I will not be returning and neither will any of my colleagues.

No real service after hours, so come prepared. This is cheaper than buying anything from the most hotels, so it shouldnt be seen as a negative. There are a lot of nearby pubs and shops or restaurants. Good breakfast with gluten free options . A really nice hotel overall. Hotel garden also fun to sit in.

This is a great place to stay....up there with all other 5* accommodations. It is an amazing building that is loving manintained by its management team. One of the many things that makes this place stand out is the welcome. Dan is a wonderful host and makes you feel welcomed the moment you step foot through the front door. The Claremont offers everything you would expect from a 5* stay...comfort, crisp white line, fluffy white towels, delicious breakfasts not to mention the little extras in your room. The address might say Hove but Brighton and Hove are one of the same. Its just one big city full of places to explore.

Room Tip: Every room at the Claremont is lovely having viewed the whole hotel as a wedding venue. If its a ver...

Really enjoyed our two nights stay here. We chose a premium double room which was very spacious and had everything you could wish for provided including flat screen TV with good selection of channels and a DVD player and selection of DVD's.
There was a very spacious bathroom with great bath tub and separate shower cubicle as well as quality shower gel, shampoo and body lotion.
The huge bed was very comfortable and the whole place was spotlessly clean.
The position was great being close enough to be in the centre of Brighton in a few minutes yet in a nice quite position. The parking is reasonable for the area if you purchase the £5 per day vouchers available on check in.
Breakfast was amazing and I recommend the eggs Benedict in particular!

It would definitely be our first choice if returning to the area in the future.

Just stayed at The Claremont in Hove on the 13th December and had the most fabulous room and breakfast at a very good rate. Dan met us and showed my colleague and I to our rooms - both great. It's sometimes quite tricky to find loveliness at a good price. This is it. The breakfast staff could not have been more accomodating. Will definitely stay here whenever in Brighton or Hove.

Two girlfriends living in different Canadian cities land in Hove for their best friend's anniversary party!

I did my research using Trip Advisor and the Claremont kept popping up with great reviews and excellent location - and it's completely true. The Claremont is a beautiful historic building just steps from Church Road and all the shops. The room we stayed in was beautiful - it had lovely big windows, an great ensuite and a comfortable bed. It was also fantastic that the room had a great flat screen so we could have our own little party before going to the anniversary party! We stayed two nights and enjoyed two lovely breakfasts accompanied by fantastic coffee!

To top everything off - I have to say that Andrew, the manager, was exceptional. He was welcoming, helpful and patient!

We had a great time and I would recommend The Claremont to any traveller!

Room Tip: We chose a four poster king room - it was big and comfortable with an ensuite. We were a bit late i...

The Claremont is a excellent hotel found in the very pleasant surrounds of Hove, it is in a great location, and in the morning serves fabulous breakfasts, with lots of choice, (with Dan working his magic in the kitchen). The rooms are all spotlessly clean, have a lovely ambiance about them and have large well appointed bathrooms, perfect for a bath before the evenings activities,

The owner is always happy to help out where he can, whether its local knowledge to adjusting travel times, As a couple or such as myself a business traveler I would thoroughly recommend staying here.
