Description: L'Eglise is a Hove landmark that has been closed since Mother's Day 2014. We have recently re opened under new ownership and are now fully open and ready to welcome you back. The menu has stayed predominantly French and we have still have the set menu available at lunch time along with classics like Moules frites and Crouque Monsieur. At night we have a dinner menu to offer which will always consist of 5 starters, 5 mains and 5 deserts along with our 28 day dry aged steaks. This menu too will change every month at least. We source as much as we can from the county of Sussex, including wines from Ditchling and Bolney, Sussex gin, vodka and vermouth from Blackdown, meat from Lewes, fish from Newhaven and ice cream from Pulborough. Our commitment is to fresh produce of the highest quality treated with care by our chef Alistair Doyle and friendly service from Andy Tinker-Taylor front of house. Ali and Andy are business partners and a between them have years of experience in the food and wine industry and they very much look forward to your visit and comments.

“Tres Bon!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2013

Having seen a really good review about this restaurant in Hove, I wanted to try it out when visiting the family in Worthing. We were not disappointed! To find an authentic French bistro in West Sussex was a joy! We ate and drink superbly well and the service was friendly and relaxed. Cheap? No but we thought the prices fair. One small exception though, we asked for extra French bread to mop up the garlic butter of our escargots but, ouch, £3.50 was a bit steep! That said we will most certainly be back.

“My mother said it was like being in Paris!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013

My parents took us after seeing a review in Olive magazine. The place is small but friendly with charming staff. The food was excellent with my steak cooked to perfection. Even my mother-in-law who is choosy about her food said it was wonderful. Overall we had a lovely evening excellent food, excellent wine and excellent service.

“Faultless Perfection”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2013

L'Eglise looks like any other good bistro but there the similarity ends.
We were greeted warmly just like we were friends or regulars (this was our first visit) and the experience went uphill from there. In fact, whilst the restaurant was quite busy, all the staff managed to find time to chat with us and make us feel like the most important diners.
The menu selection was excellent so the four of us had no difficulty in making our selection and when the starters arrived I realised that we really were in for a treat. Exquisite main courses came next followed by gorgeous desserts and cheese.
The wine list was great and well balanced in type and price.
Although not cheap, the restaurant is excellent value for money. It is also friendly, efficient and has a great atmosphere. What more could a diner ask for?
If you are intending to dine out in Hove you will find L'Eglise hard to beat. Actually, I think this restaurant takes a lot of beating anywhere and I am already looking forward to my next visit.

We had lunch there on a Saturday afternoon, although the place was quiet the food was very good and the owner was charming. Very reasonably priced too.
Highly recommended

Great service, food & atmosphere. This is our first choice for any occasion in Hove. We have been regular customers since they opened.
