Beautiful established resort with lots of greenery to give much need shade and gorgeous view from the restaurant. We had adjoining rooms with second room comfortably set up for our three kids with an extra bed. Rooms were fine and the cleaning staff were amazing. Was a reasonably long steep walk down to restaurant, harbour, pool and kids clubs but then we need some excercise to make room for more fabulous buffet food. Older kids were very happy (7 and 11) but youngest (3) probably felt like he was being dumped in a club so his parents could relax (true, of course). Went in to the neighbouring town for the market and dinners on the non-inclusive nights, great to get a bit of local colour. Also took a taxi with the whole family out to Ephesus which was easy and spectacular - if very busy. Very helpfully Neilson lent us on of their rugged buggies for the trip, which was perfect as you can easily roll through the whole site. Also went for a short but bottom ache inducing bike ride to the local ruins which are spread out around marshy fields and mostly deserted. Would warmly recommend.

a very enjoyable 'relaxing' holiday at Teos. Brilliant weather, plenty of food and loads to do. Teos ruins well worth visiting as well as are the local towns. Would return.
Only a few downsides :
1) room safes you have to pay for - due to the 'cashless' nature of the hotel you do not need to carry any money or valuables so why not have free safes and even better keyless ones - which would resolve the dilemma of do you give the safe key in with your room key or stash it discretely in your room
2) school parties - is this to be a regular occurrence? Could something be put in place to warn people in advance say when booking that there will be school parties in residence. Not everyone goes on holiday to be surrounded by teenagers - particularly when they have left their own teenage offspring at home.
Overall, the school parties were no problem but ideally you needed to avoid arriving at the same time as them in restaurant, they also tended to dominate the watersports equipment and certain activities taken by Kit did not take place as he was running activities for them.
3) cats in the restaurant and large dogs in the hotel grounds
4) an organised weekly coach trip to Ephesus would be good - maybe on changeover day when there are no organised activities as would be ideal for those staying 2 weeks or even those with late flight departure times.

Couldn't fault Neilson Club Teos- had a fantastic week there mid October, yes we were lucky with the weather but we were so impressed with everything. Activities schedule was fantastic, a great combination of things to do. The staff were superb and nothing was too much trouble. The waterski instructor, Tom was extremely professional and clear with his instruction. Wendy and Shaun were very helpful indeed in making the holiday the best I've ever had. And this comes from a former Sunsail employee! Equipment was good - better than I expected with it being the end of the season. Keep it up Neilson - fantastic, will be recommending it to all my friends and of course we will be back next year!

Teos has received a number of ratings and all I will say is that I agree with them, and move on to cover practical points.

Firstly, a comparison with the one other Neilson resort we have visited – Phokaia/Foca, which is a little further to the north. Phokaia is a little larger than Teos, and is better in all respects (eg setting, facilities, ease of access etc), except one. This no doubt is why the brochure price differential between the two is widening. The one area where Teos definitely beats Phokaia is bike riding – no disrespect to Phokaia, but as all the terrain away from the roads is military exercise area for which is it forbidden and possibly dangerous to enter, off-road riding is sparse.

Back to Teos. Accomodation: about 150 rooms mainly in 13 two-storey villas. Most rooms appear to be in pairs of twin/doubles, with interconnecting doors (lockable where required, of course). Rooms are quite small but in good repair and decorative order, and en-suite. No baths, only showers, but the showers are among the best I have seen, with ample hot water and almost power-shower pressure and flow rate. All have air-con, but if visiting in high summer I would recommend asking for a ground-floor room – this should provide more shade from the pine trees which surround all the buildings. As far as I could tell few, if any, have a sea view.

Site: quite a steep slope down to the beach and a lot of steps so perhaps not a resort to take granny to. Almost everything activity-wise is either down at the beach level, apart from the restaurant which is slightly higher up the slope, or right at the top ie tennis courts and bike shed, so you can be up and down a fair bit. The beach is small, in a secluded cove, but is quite good sand quality by Mediterranean standards.

Meals: very much as other Neilson resorts, or Mark Warner. “Club Board” means no inclusive dinner on three evenings. You can get bar food or join the cost-extra barbecue, but the marina town of Sicagik (pronounced sarge-ick) is close enough to walk (30 mins), there are frequent dolmus mini-bus services and a taxi costs 10YTL or about £3.50. There are several good restaurants there, and they are not expensive.

There is only one bar, down at the beach and pool, but it has a cosy welcoming feel to it, and that is after all where you are likely to spend most of your time. The shop and the information point/reception during the day are just underneath the bar.

Activities: the usual range of dinghy sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, waterskiing on-water, and biking, fitness etc off-water, just like any other Neilson resort. Neilson seem to go more for a balance of acticvities, compared with Sunsail (as was), where sailing really did rule, and MW, where it is all about tennis. The beach/cove can be slightly tricky to sailing or out as the wind is much lighter and prone to shifting as it swirls around the surrounding steep slopes. Once out the sailing area is good and quite large, although it lacks the shelter from open-sea swells enjoyed by the Phokaia sailing area. For serious 49-er types, the equipment is likely to be disappointing – I didn’t see a “kite” anywhere – but for most people it is just fine and of good quality, mainly from the Laser stable.

Water skiers need to paddle a kayak to a pontoon before they start their ski session but it is only a matter of a few metres. You can do a formal RYA sailing or windsurfing course for no extra charge, or informal clinics. The beach staff organise a couple of “kayak safaris” during the week, going up or down the coast and beyond the sight of the safety watch so they can travel further.

My wife rated the tennis more highly than Phokaia, with 4 good clay courts, although not very well-drained - presumably not a priority where the season is generally very dry until October.

The biking is that one thing where Teos definitely has the edge on Phokaia. Very little of the surrounding countryside seems to be off-limits and while, like anywhere in Turkey, you will see tank tracks, the landscape is open to use and safe most of the time – I think they do their military exercises out of season. Rides are graded A-E for the level of fitness required and 1-5 for technical difficulty – surface qualities and gradients of the trails used. At one end there are quick excursions to see Sicagik on market day, or the ruins of the Ionian City of Teos. These are within the capability of almost anyone who can ride a bike and are no more than 5-7km distance, with long stops to browse/look around. At the other end there is a 55km ride up into the hills some distance away, and some intermediate rides of 20-30km with varying proportions of on and off-road riding. In addition to the public road network, mainly quite quiet, there is a spider’s web of lanes and tracks, some surfaced, others rough and occasionally rocky, passing through the orange groves on a flat plain, or ascending the small hills some 8-10km away from the resort.

Pamper/relax: we didn’t use the resort spa – it is not well positioned, in the front lobby area which Neilson doesn’t seem to have figured out how to use efficiently, so you tend not to go past it much – but certainly it has all the facilities you would expect from a spa, but not, I think, a hammam (Turkish bath). For this, you can go into the neighbouring town of Seferihisar, probably about a 8-10km bike ride or about YTL3 (£1) in a dolmus. The works costs a mere YTL30 – a tenner.

Room Tip: In high summer, ask for ground floor, to take advantage of shade from surrounding pine trees.

First time in Turkey, first time on a Neilson's holiday. Both were fantastic. We stayed for two weeks and were sorry to have to go home. The staff are very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. There's no need to be nervous about trying something new because they really could not be more supportive. Special thanks to Paddy and Joe (the tennis boys,) to Jordan for waiting as we were last cycling up the hills and to Briony for the sailing. I wish I could mention everything that was good about this holiday but it really was everything. Many thanks to the brilliant customer service manager Wendy Machin for her help during our stay.

If you want a holiday with loads to do, loads to eat, lovely staff and lots of laughs, go here.
