“Nice food, nice staff...”
Reviewed December 1, 2013

It looks a bit gloomy from the outside, but once inside it is a nice place to come for a drink, food.
The menu could do with a small change from those plastic laminated affairs, but the choce is good. Local mussels, their famous cheeseburger are well worth trying.

“Not as good as it was - disappointing”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

We have visited this restaurant several times over the last few years but will not be going back for a while. It was a very busy Saturday evening so we did not expect tip top service. We did, however, expect the usual quality of food and to get what we ordered. We both ordered the mussels "special", which was available in white wine or in Portuguese style. The usual giant size bucket arrived, accompanied by a small bowl of chips between two which had to be sent back because they were cold. The mussels tasted of nothing other than mussels and water and it was only as we got further into the bucket that we found the chillies - presumably a sign that we had been given the Portuguese version! All attempts to catch anyone's eye to get more chips/drinks etc. were skilfully avoided and even getting the bill proved a bit of a challenge.
In short, we will be trying somewhere else next time.

“Absolute "top": very good food at fair price”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

Family visit in Zierikzee brought us here. A good looking, cosy bistro-restaurant with a great atmosphere. Inside it looks and feels to inside a pirate ship, by the decorations. Personnel is friendly and the menu-card offers a broad selection that serves everybody: from fresh seafood to spare-ribs or sate. You won't be disappointed. The prices were very reasonable.

“Worth the drive outside of Schiphol to Hoofddorp for great food & Dutch hospitality!”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

Make sure you have someone who can read Dutch so you can understand the menu. I had lunch with an old friend at Marktzicht and we we both pleasantly surprised. We had hot mint tea, with real mint leaves, and a small Dutch bisquit. My friend who is Dutch commented on the authenticity of the bisquit. We ordered Nicoise salad with fresh tuna. The lettuce was sprinkled with herbs, both locally grown. The greens never tasted so flavorful. The fresh tuna was good quality and topped off the salad. The dressing was seasoned perfectly. Living in California, I have had many Nicoise salads, but this was THE BEST because of the greens. I ate every bite. We also ordered the bitterballens, which my friend commented that they were homemade. They were very tasty and piping hot. They were a Dutch treat! We finished off with a glass of wine because we were short of time on our meter.

If you have transportation, it was worth the short drive outside of Schiphol to visit this town, full of shopping opportunities, and to catch a bite to eat at Markzicht. My friend also commented that the prices were very reasonable.

I was happy to have visited an authentic town and restaurant. I highly recommend to all.
