“Brief visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2013

To be honest my stay was very short, checked in late, had a quick shower and then sleep was equally short.

Rooms were clean and well appointed. Nice view into the courtyard. Surrounding area is very beautiful with woods and large green areas.

Found the room very warm even though there was no heating and the windows were all open.

No tea and coffee facilities.

Can't really give a great review, other than reasonable value, clean and tidy.

This hotel has the official qualification of 4 stars but doesn't full fill this. The location is good on the egde of the village Deurne with a big parking. The building is an old monastery (built in 1954) that is renovated to a hotel in 2004. The reception is very good and friendly. The room is not at all a 4 star hotel, for me a 3 star is the correct value. It still gives to much the feeling of the monastery which is very nice for the outside. The breakfast is a good standard but here also the evaluation is a 3.5 star. I give the same evaluation to the restaurant in the evening. There is a rather limited menu (nothing wrong with that) but the way the food is prepared looks more or less the same for every main dish which points to no inspiration. There are also the possibilities to have big meetings or all kind of festivities in the hotel but as a private guest no big problems (may be parking lot is rather full) with that since rooms and festivities are in different areas.

May be the 4 stars given by the Dutch government comes due to the building , location and the support of good cause. The profit of the hotel is still going back to the foundation of the monastery who supports good works in Netherlands.

A bit different because the hotel used to be a seminary. It is in the middle of some fields so it is very quiet. The area around the hotel is quite pretty and very green. There is a restaurant next to the hotel where you can sit outside and have a good meal or some typical Dutch 'bitterballen'. The personnel is very helpful and friendly. The rooms are very small though. Clean and modern but a bit too small considering the price. we would probably stay in another hotel if we were in that area again.

Room Tip: Ask for a bigger room

great place to stay - can walk into Deurne itself in about 20 to 30 minutes - worth doing seeing the beautiful church on the square and the "used to be" Post Office.

The hotel looks and feels very relaxing and exclusive. It is situated in a wonderful green area. It has a beautiful inner garden, wonderful restaurant (I have to stress on this - great food and great service in the restaurant!)... and horrible rooms! The beds are two single beds put together instead of one double... and they drift apart to make a big gap in between! Bathroom looks like they did in the 50s + some badly cleaned tiles. The shower switches between cold and warm every 10 seconds. Oh, and don't forget your shampoo and body lotion because in this 4* hotel you will only get soap. In a nut shell - if the rooms get better I would be in love with this place!

Stayed at this hotel as part of a wedding group. The room was spacious, clean, and modern. Reception was friendly and very helpful. Area around the hotel itself is nice, but lends itself more to a retreat than a holiday because it is quite suburban.

A good hotel to stay when you are passing through. The hotel is on the outskirts of a small town in a very quiet location. The place is spotless and reception staff very friendly and efficient. We had a room on the first floor, sparse like you would expect in an old monastery, but it had everything we needed, including a flat screen tv. The small wardrobe was difficult to open, due to tiny knobs. Since we were only there for one night, we didn't unpack, which was just as well. The bed was no good; a thin mattress, too hard, so we didn't sleep well. The bathroom was quite neutral; shower, sink and toilet; but very clean. Breakfast was good, but finished at 9:30 when staff started clearing everything away. Check-out time was at 10:00, which is too early.
