“Cute, Quaint & Quiet”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2013

We were on a 4 week journey and booked a week at this resort. We had no real idea what the place would be like, other than what I read on the Landal website and Tripadvisor. What I pictured, as far as the unit went, was not what we got. It far exceeded my expectations. We were assigned a 3 bd, 1 bath unit with a kitchenette and living room. It was in great shape, clean and well appointed.

The resort is basically designed for young families, so we didn't really use the facilities, other than laundry. It was really a jumping off point for touring Holland and western Germany.

The resort is well kept, attractive and restful. The only sounds we really heard was that of songbirds (and the distant highway). There are hiking/biking trails nearby and grocery stores , etc. are close by.

The laundry facility is a bit lacking, 2 washers and 1 dryer. I figure that because most folks pack what they need and don't require doing laundry. We stayed here the 3rd week of a 4 week trip, so we needed to clean some clothes. Pricy, too. €5 for a wash and €1 for drying. That's almost $8 for a load of laundry-ouch!

Even so, I really liked this place and I recommend it to other couples. I wouldn't fly from SFO just for this, but as part of a longer trip, its a good rest stop and home base.

Warm welcome at reception very friendly and helpful staff. We were booked with a wrong return date and got an upgrade. Bungalow interior quite outdated and very basic. I missed an oven only microwave available. Bedrooms very small, closets without shelves, beds are ok. Children had a great time in the pool and on the playground. They loved the chipmunks around the house. Nearby many hiking paths. We spotted some deer. Also great location for entrance national parc not far by bike. Except for a drink we did not used the restaurant. Many restaurants in nearby villages. Price vs quality a bit below average. There are bungalows with a new interior but far more expensive for same space. For groceries better go to supermarket in Beekbergen. Supermarket at Heideheuvel provides in main things you might need. Overall we had a relaxing time with beautiful weather.

We had booked to stay here for a long weekend and it was the perfect place to relax. The detached bungalows are set in the forest and any neighbouring bungalows are set slightly away from you so it is a peaceful setting. We spent every morning eating breakfast in front of the large windows watching the local wildlife outside, red squirrel spotting became our favourite pastime and we all managed to feed them from our hands.

We found the bungalow comfortable with sufficient equipment for our weekend.

The on-site swimming pools were warm and fun for our 7 year old, we went swimming every day, we also had fun on the 18 hole mini golf (does incur a fee to play) and hired pedal gocarts (again a charge involved) for an hour. Bikes are available to hire and the area is perfect for exploring on a bike.

We had such a good time here that we are planning on coming back for a week next time.

The chalets are sufficiently furnished and equipped except for no phones. N Internet facility only through cable ie only for those wz laptop. No wifi for smart phones or iPad. Heater erratic, towards morning when it's d coldest the heater somehow auto off n got freezing!
Beautiful n scenic cycling path especially to the Apeldoorn canal and passing through forest, farms n villages n small towns along the way. Close proximity to the National Park 21km . Good selections of bicycle type for rent as well.

I was staying in landal Heideheuvel with my parents and my husband. The Appartement was in a forest within other houses. The house is a tipical Netherlander weekend hous, with a fireplace in the livingroom. We had 3 rooms, one with double bed and 2 small ones with only one bed. The one bed rooms are very small, about 2m *3m, so only a sofa and a thin wardrobe coud fit in. The livingroom had glass walls in two side, so everyone could see in if the curtons were not closed, but far enough from the neighbours. We could see everything also around us, big trees animals, chappys and so on. So it was like we would sit outside in the forest, but next to the fireplace. So it is amaizing. The kichen had the basic equipment, no toaster, but all in all was fine. The area does not have to many attractions, (only for hiking) but for about 1 or 1.5 hour drive you can reach a lot of sightseeing places, such as Utrecht, Kinderdijk, Gouda, Delft. The on site restaurant is good, a bit expensive. A main course cost about 17-25 Euros. Supermarkets are on everage price.
