Albir Garden Resort
Ranked #7 of 15 Hotels in L'Alfas del Pi
Reviewed September 29, 2013

We have just arrived back from an All Inclusive week at this resort and it was great. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the pools fantastic and there was so much food and drink that my partner cant button up the shirt he went out in!! Met lots of lovely friends that we are staying in touch with. Planning the next trip now.

Room Tip: Rooms away from evening entertainment are the quietest.

We are just home from Albir, on our arrival on the 14th Sept we arrived late, at the reception they were very helpful, the rooms were good and clean, looking round the complex the next day it was very impressive, the area was clean and tidy, the gardens were well maintained. We were self catering so we never tried the main restaurant (but we did hear the food was good) the kitchen area in the apartments was a bit small but we got by and never had a bad meal. The area outside the hotel has a large supermarket right across the road, there are bars aplenty in the area. The beach was a good 15-20min walk, and the bus service to Benidorm & Altea was right outsid the hotel. If we were to go back we would not hesitate to book here again

After reading some of the reviews I was a little apprehensive about this hotel. My partner and I took our mothers and 1 auntie, all 3 ladies are in their 60's. We chose albir as we wanted to be able to get into benidorm easily without being stuck in the middle of it and albir is nice and quiet. We had a little problem with finding the hotel, we had a rental car and the address says l'alfas del pi and its actually in albir! Once we had found it there was no problems whatsoever. Lovely lady behind reception tried to check us in early as we had left the uk at 3am and she could see we had older people with us, she managed to get 2 of our 3 apartments ready for straight after lunch and then managed our apartment for an hour later, we were super grateful as didn't want to wait until 5pm check in time. Plenty of space and loads of sun loungers and chairs, never been to a hotel with such a surplus!. Lovely pool nicely segregated to keep the children from the very deep adult section and a lovely middle bit that adults and kids were sharing and where water games and activities were held. The apartments are perfect, we much prefer an apartment to a room as we appreciate the extra space. They were cleaned daily and as I said before we had 3 apartments between us and even our cleaning obsessed mothers didn't have any complaints! We were all inclusive but having checked out the kitchen there was plenty to use if you were self catering. As for the bar, great service good beer, spirits are always a bit hit and miss as to wether its paraffin or vodka but you get that in all incs everywhere. Small queues for bar at night but no more than 5 mins. Restaurant good for a 3 star, don't understand when people say the food is bad, lots of choice, tons of fresh salad and always a freshly cooked meat and fish at the cooking platform at the top of the restaurant, most lunchtimes there was a paella or fiduea. Always cold meats and pastas at every meal. Love the bar in the restaurant, if you go up and ask for a glass of wine they give you a bottle much to my mothers delight,We did this every lunch and dinner and they happily give you another and another and so on!
Good wifi around reception and pool totally free of charge and as I said before lady at reception super helpful with drawing us maps to the waterfalls, nothing was too much trouble. The only downside of the whole setup is the entertainment, I am sure if you had kids it was great but as we were 2 of us in our 30's and 3 of us in our 60's we did not appreciate watching small kids dancing on the stage until midnight. If you put on some adult entertainment at 10pm I think it would be much better. On that note we popped out towards benidorm and just past the benidorm palace on the other side of the road there is a great bar called the rock house which had some fab live music.
Thanks albir garden, we will be back

after reading the bad reviews on this hotel I was pleasantly surprised , the rooms are modern and very clean , the maid comes in every day with clean towels and bedding is changed twice a week . the food was excellent and catered to all tastes. the bar staff were cheerful and very helpful as were all the staff in the hotel, the hotel was full when we were there but we had no trouble getting sunbeds , the terrace around the pool is quite big and there was plenty of space for everyone . the only complaint we had was the entertainment it wasn't very good , but your holiday is what you make it and we had loads of fun . we look forward to returning to albir grdens next year .

Just returned today from Albir Garden Complex, arrived at 1300 and could not get our room till 1615, even though people arrived well after us and got a room straight away. As a whole the complex is well run, rooms very basic, but for the ladies there was no dressing table, but as we were self catering it didn't bother us that much. The table on the balcony was so dirty it was probably cleaned at the last supper, you could scrape through the grime. The place is well situated and within easy reach of the local bars etc. and prices were fair, try out. The Three Lions Bar, best prices for drinks, although a restaurant called Paulinos is a place to stay away from, we ordered a steak and a pizza, the steak arrived but it was chicken, they say that what it meant, the pizza was as thick as a beer mat but the mat would have tasted better, we complained but they just said we have been cooking these for 20 years, you would think that after all that time they would get it right by now.

loverly hotel 2 large swimming pools and 2 smaller ones for the kids, staff were very friendly and spoke English quite well, we had a small problem when we got there, we opened our balcony door and all we saw was a great big tree, could not see anything else, we went to reception, and they were great about it, but had to wait till the next day when the manager was in. then they moved us right away to a loverly room in the main block right over looking the pool. food was plenty full, always something you liked, and I am a fussy eater, hotel and rooms were spotless cleaned and towels changed everyday bedding every other day. would recommend this hotel, and if we travel to this area again would diffently stay here.

Where do I begin? The reviews on here are very misleading. the people that say its "fantastic" have absolutely no standards and clearly don't mind wasting their money?!
So good points:
-good Irish pub over the road
-lovely Italian restaurant "classica gourmet" 5 mins Away.
-pool was clean & a good size
-supermarket opposite so we didn't starve!

Bad points:
-no free wifi (€1 per hour).
-no free tv (€5 per day) which didn't even work untill maintenance came to fix it the next day.
€1 to play pool/darts/airhockey.
-no happy smiley welcomes on arrival just got told our room wasn't ready and to go wait until 1pm.
-No hotel introductions you're just left to wonder where everything is.
-the food was vile we struggled through the first 2 meals after that we ate out. Unless you like rubbery fatty dry "meat" or vinegar drenched salads, anaemic chips, sugary rice, dry pasta undercooked frozen veg or frankfurters? My partner struggled through the food and he literally eats anything. The best thing I ate all week here was a leek cream soup.
-beach is a 40 min walk.
-no glasses for drinks, all paper/plastic cups.
-bins left unemptied around poolside causing flies everywhere.
-staff are miserable & hard to interact with unless you're Spanish
-no bathroom fan/window so it constantly smelt damp and musky (the 12 year old shower curtain probably didn't help either).
-no bedroom mirrors.
-spotted a huge cockroach outside our bedroom block.
-paid for a double room but got a twin.
-all linen ie curtains ect was old and tatty ,bed sheets are thin, old, itchy & moth-eaten.
-towels are stained, old & rough
-every inch of paintwork needs redoing.
-cracked glass picture and hole in bedroom door in the room.
-cracked balcony tiles
-sunbeds are plastic, cheap, uncomfortable (no cushioning) and unadjustable
-all outside furniture are cheap tacky plastic chairs & tables with beer sponsors on (classy)
-all inside furniture is uncomfortable cheapest Argos style tat.
-no hair dryer in room.
-no hand dryers in the ladies.
-dirty sanitary towel on the floor, I guess the bins were full or this is just the type of people that stay here.
-luggage hold room is disgusting and has never been cleaned.
-entertainment consists of either water aerobics 24/7, locals coming in to try to sell us their own music, or animal cruelty (the local zoo bringing in animals which looked very unhappy to be on a stage full of screaming kids with very loud music constantly being flashed at), we felt it wrong to stay and watch this so left.
All this cost us just £330 each to stay here all inclusive. BARGAIN! Not. not forgetting all the money we used to eat out, otherwise we wouldn't have eaten at all.

All in all this place sums up why staying below a 4* is an utter waste of money.

I honestly advise not to waste your money on this hotel.. also that the hotel has a huge modernisation project & employs new chefs!

We were very unsatisfied & Will never be returning to this hole again. I would deffinitly ask for a refund if any of the staff could actually understand me.
