“Very good food, very bad service”
Reviewed August 15, 2013 via mobile

A party of seventeen went there to have lunch. Although I understand that such a large table is challenging, the staff made too many mistakes in a too short period of time. They were not focused and too often unprofessional. it took us more than 3 hours to reach the desserts.

Regarding the food, in general, it was excellent. Grilled fish was fresh and well cooked although a bit scarce. Other dishes and desserts were also very good. However, the overall balance is not positive at all. Bad service should not spoil a family celebration.

“Wedding Anniversary”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

A special occasion,a special meal. The menu del dia must be one of the best for value for money for miles around.
Tapas to start are modest but more than adequate.
Choice & quality of starters superb.
Main course selection varied & fish & lamb superbly cooked.
Dessert delightfully fresh fruit salad.
Accompanying wine, carafe of white to start & red to follow perfectly drinkable. In total one litre included in menu price.
Coffee & petits fours nice touch.
Service efficient & friendly.
Ambiente fine.On terrace good for smokers.
Forget El Bulli,Celler d'en Can Roca & the Savoy.
Come here 50 times on weekdays & save money against once a year in the former!!

“Not to be missed if you are staying around Platja d'Aro”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

Very good restaurant - sincere, no surprises, catalan traditional cooking.

The setting is indeed a little old fashioned - you can tell the restaurant is more than 40 years old, but we didn't feel like it was a bad thing. We visited the place several times during the last 6 months and every time the quality of food and service were very consistent - even during the off-season months, when many hotels and restaurants get closed. In fact I liked it even more at the end of February - early March, when we were offered a table next to a fire place with real wood burning; I felt very much at home.

We tried both their seasonal menus and a la carte dishes and always were fully satisfied. The seasonal offerings are also a great value - you get a lot of excellent food for very reasonable price.

It is probably not worth a special trip, but if you are staying in Platja d'Aro, S'Agaro or nearby, the place is highly recommended.

“Menu Del Dia is excellent value”
Reviewed July 12, 2013

We live nearby and have now been to this restaurant several times. It is very popular with locals and not dependant on tourists. The setting is an old stone farmhouse with a lovely atmosphere. I would describe the menu as catalan with a modern twist. The menu del dia is very good value at under 20 euros, although coffee and water are extra so it comes to around 47 euros for 2 people for lunch. The quality and amount of food is incredible for that. Today I had a celery and roquefort mousse with salad, followed by rice with prawns and chicken and a desert of 'textured chocolate' - all delicious. The set menu is in catalan so check it out on Facebook first. Definitely worth a visit away from the coast.
