To clarify. This is a nice hotel in an absolutely stunning spot.

A friend and I purposefully chose playa de Aro for a quiet long weekend break deciding against nearby (very English) resorts and had the most wonderful time here.
A little disappointed initially as we weren't placed in a sea view room. But the hotel was full and this wasn't possible. Our room (63) was very quiet, clean and faced a private cout yard which we were delighted with.
The food was very good with fresh fish, prawns and grilled meats cooked in front of you. Something for everyone.
The pool overlooked a stunning beach which was small shingle sand but still gorgeous with clear blue sea and a jetty to swim out to. Take goggles as the sea life was great too.
Yes we did que at the bar for drinks at peak times but not for long. The plastic long cups were fine for day time drinking and it meant you could take them down on the beach too. Can't wait to return.

And the lovely young lad at reception even helped us with our boarding cards.
The main strip is nice too with cool bars and restaurents. We found a really good club called Malibu with pumping house music full of young Barcelona kids on their hols which says it all really about the resort

Me and my friend visited Caleta Palace in the first week of September 2012 and even though our airport transfer was a shambles with our particular holiday company we arrived late at night to a clean and nicely decorated reception area. Our room had a great sea view and was clean. Facilities included a hairdryer and a TV although we only had a plug socket in the bathroom which wasn't ideal. We chose to rent a safe which cost 35 Euros (10E deposit) which we thought was slightly over priced. But we learnt that extras come at a steep cost. Computers are available in the reception area with interent access and cost 2E for 30 minutes, WI-FI is 18E for a week or 5E for a day and parking a car will cost you 12E a day! The food was average and fairly repetative but not inedible. The staff in the restaurant were efficient and friendly but reception and bar staff were slightly rude and unhelpful. The pool area was clean although unheated and the hotel has great access to the beach which is unfortunately fine pebbles and not sand which is uncomfortable but not terrible. Our room was positioned directly above the bar area which posed a problem if you wanted to sleep when entertainment continued till midnight most evenings. The hotel is very child orientated and we heard the same disco playlist every night. Drinks at the bar are served in plastic cups and bottles of water are only available at lunch and dinner sittings. The local high street is pleasant and local eateries are nice. There is also a supermarket and pharmacy within a 5 minute walk of the hotel. All in all we felt a week was an ideal length of visit and we would visit this area of Spain again but maybe not this hotel.

I went to the Caleta Palace in May this year on an all-inclusive week deal and I can honestly say that I got what I paid for. It was very cheap and although the hotel itself was clean and the staff relatively friendly, the food was dreadful (and sometimes unrecognisable) and the overall feeling of the hotel wasn't that great. It probably didn't help that it torrentially rained for the entire week, but if it had been sunny then there would've been a fight for sunbeds as there isn't much space around the pool. The in-house entertainment wasn't that great and the drinks appeared to be quite watered down (very little chance of embarrassing yourself on these measures). All in all it was okay, if you want a cheap week in the sun (or the rain in my case). The town itself is quite nice and we caught the bus to Barcelona for the day which was nice (about 1hr40 away).

Just returned from this hotel. We (3 adults, one teenager, one 11 yr old) were given a huge 2 floor apartment with 3 bedrooms (one a gallery bedroom) 2 complete bath/shower rooms, and a massive patio overlooking the pool, sea and beach, clean and spacious. Received several envious stares from people passing by on their way to the pool/beach. Pool bar that stayed open until 6.30pm - eased the congestion at the hotel bar (an was so much cooler!) within several steps, pool in front and beach and sea next level down. No complaints other than the patio doors were stiff and wouldn't lock. Reported to Reception and the Janitor came the next day, fixed a new lock and eased up the doors. Ants, tiny ones in droves! became a problem at the end of the holiday but were swiftly dealt with by the cleaning staff. Disappointingly, considering it's a family hotel, there is no children's menu! We arrived on a Saturday and until Monday the food was average. Then it picked up and was really nice - even large chicken nuggets which one of my children really loved! Reception staff were very helpful. Beach is shingle but you soon get used to it. Lovely location, main street of the large town is in front of the hotel. 35mins from Girona Airport. Definitely would go again, but would look at self catering so i could try some of the fantastic looking eateries in the town.

Room Tip: ask for ground floor apartment overlooking pool.

The 1st room we were given had a strong smell of cat urine. The member of staff became angry and aggressive when we asked to move...don't be scared to ask for the management, as we did. On arrival it took 2 hours before we were given a suitable room. One of the waitresses was extremely rude and nearly ruined our holiday after grabbing my partners plate and demanding we move to another table. She then persisted to slam about, crashing the furniture and plates. After being asked to apologise by the manager, she refused and walked away smirking. The desserts had growing mould and when I pointed it out, the waitress seemed offended and snatched the plate away. Very unpleasant experience, wouldn't say here ever again!!!
