Hotel ANDRIA
Ranked #4 of 8 Hotels in La Seu d'Urgell
Reviewed August 7, 2010

This is a very classy and beautiful hotel and it isn’t even very expensive. It's in the centre of La Seu d'Urgell, which is quite a boring little town. The place to be is actually hotel Andria. The hotel has a nice little square with a terrace. When we arrived, there was live music: such a nice welcome. And when we walked up the stairs, the hotel owner came running to make sure our luggage was carried. The hotel building is amazing: very elegant. The staff is very friendly. We got a room with a double bed and a single bed, while I specifically asked for a room with three single beds. When I went back to the reception, the hotel owner claimed that I didn't book it this way. But I did and I even emailed to asked that and it was confirmed by email, so I could proof it and I didn't like him denying that. That was the only bad experience in the hotel and in the end they changed the room. The room was beautiful and had a very good bathroom. Breakfast was okay and very nice was that we could eat outside on the terrace: a very nice way to start the day. Parking costs nine euro’s a day, it's in a parking garage close by. When we left, our luggage was also carried and the hotel owner gave some recommendations for places to visit on the road. A beautiful and comfortable hotel with a lovely terrace for not a lot of money: I would definitely recommend this hotel is you go to La Seu d’Urgell.

We wanted a quiet week of hiking after Barcelona so we picked Seu d'Urgell since we did not have a car. We emailed with the hotel staff and they were able to give us information about hiking and told us that we didn't need a car for the area. The hotel was right! There were trails starting from this charming town thru the hills, along side flowing rivers, up to old city forts...what a wonderful adventure without worrying about driving! The room was beautiful, the buffet breakfasts rated a 10 (meat and sausage assortment, local cheese, fruit, yogurt, breads, cereral, jams, tomatoes, biscuits, eggs,etc...) and the staff couldn't have been more obliging when we had a question or had a problem. When booking the bus to this town, ask for the most direct route with no stops (this can save you an hour! it's normally a 3 hr. trip) Free internet at the hotel. Make sure you stop at the Tourist information at the edge of town...there is one IN town, the staff isn't as knowledgeable....by the way...the '92 kayaking Olympics were held here

Recently stayed in this property and the rooms are not at all what they appear on the hotel's website. Instead, our room was small, dark, dingy and it had a faint bad smell. Nor is the breakfast buffet the extrensive buffet the hotel claims. It was a pretty limited affair and we were very turned off by the filthy walls in the dining room by the breakfast area. Moreover, there's no elevator in the property meaning that you have to carry your luggage up the stairs into the hotel and then up to your floor. We could not recommend this hotel and our suggestion woulod be to stay at another property.

If you like bland, characterless, multiple chain hotels, this is NOT for you. But if you appreciate individuality, care, attention, charm, uniqueness, then stay at the Andria.
The hotel has been owned for 4 generations by the same family and
it shows.
Antiques abound and, although the rooms are excellent, the hotel specialises in the quality of its traditional food, served with skill and flair. Dining outdoors in the courtyard in good weather is an experience not to be forgotten.
The tree filled, spectacular patio, with the hotel entrance some 18 steps above it, means that this hotel may not be best suited to the elderly, the infirm or families who need to keep an eye on exuberant children.
Otherwise spend time here, take in the flavour of the town itself - well worth a visit - and relax in the spacial comfort and warmth of the hotel Andria.
