“Warm Irish Style Welcome in Spain at The Coffee Dock”
Reviewed May 2, 2014

If you are looking for a great small pub with a great welcome and wonderful service then look no further than the Coffee Dock in Marbella where the Manager, John, will always go beyond the call of duty to make you feel totally at home. We have been there 3 nights on the trot ...

“An Spalpeen”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

"La Dispensa" is an inviting restaurant located in Puerto Cabopino,(Marbella, in Costa del Sol), beside Port, overlooking Marina. There is a surrounding aura of opulence as the Marina shelters an array of luxurious Yachts. The visitor here tends to dream of a carefree life on the open seas under a sky of azure in the glorious meditteranean.
We had not booked, and wandered in aimlessly, seeking atmosphere, good food and wine. We were not disappointed. We had visited this establishment in the recent past with some friends from Lahinch area, we were then contemporary campers.
We got a Spanish "Cead Mile Failte" of a welcome, from - no less - than the owner , - and his daughter, who appeared to have some French connections, she certainly spoke French with a dialect. - They conveyed Madam and me to our table ,and offered some "tapas style" entrees. The waiters, who actually recognised us from the previous visit, were most professional, friendly and helpful,
The menu was mouth-watering, but we knew beforehand that the Rosada (Bream) was to "kill for". However we quickly changed our mind on seeing" steak-on-stone" being served to table next to ours. We ordered for 2, and in the interim, while awaiting, sipped from a local spicy red sangria brew strong enough to blow the brains from a skeleton. We soaked up the cosmopolitan atmosphere and our "steak-on-stone" duly arrived without delay, madam carved the steak into chop style cutlets and cooked the meat by periodically turning the portions on the red hot volcanic stone ,until it turned from red to a mahogany brown. The overseeing waiter eventually raised the white flag, and we dived in. The stone cooked meat was soft (no need for a steak knife) succulent, tasty, and flavoured. We had a choice of Pepper and Rocquefort cheese sauces, I lathered on the cheese while madam sprinkled some pepper. Side garnishings of veg. were generous, and included red onions, mushrooms, and creamed jacket potatoe. We washed all down with the remains of the litre of sangria, and a strong cafe-con-leche. we were also offered a "house liquer" but we had to decline. There was no room for desert, La cuenta amounted to a very reasonable E18 per skull, (excl. tip) Then lo and behold as we departed the skies opened, a thuderstorm had arrived out of nowhere, so we requested the waiter to order a Taxi to ferry us back to our Apt, however the owner seeing our plight, instructed another waiter to drive us home in his own car. Can you beat that for service ?
Needless to say we will be back.
