After many years of visiting Teguise,we never bothered to go up to the castle--until now!We had missed the second best views on the island(Mirador del Rio the best).From the top of the castle you can see both coastlines and have super views of the villages and volcanoes all around.adsmission is only 3 Euros and the exhibition is interesting.
You can walk or take the car,free to park.

Good points;

Fantastic views, and very cheap we paid just 3 euros each to visit a castle and no parking charges.

Bad points;

They say history is written by the winners, but it is interesting and a wee curious to see British Navel Captains and Commanders depicted as being 'Pirates'! And that the Spanish beat the British Thankfully my girlfriend stopped me from pointing out the fact that the British Navy beat the Spanish Armada with just 1/5 the ships of the Spanish.

Apart from that small little discrepancy in history, I would highly recommend the Castle.

We were the only two off our 'market' coach party to do this walk, but it was worth the time and effort. We loved the views to both coasts of the island and we even saw donkeys on the way up.

Museum was closed as it was the day of 'three kings', but no matter.

A lovely contrast to the busy market.

Castle is wonderful, the views are stunning.
The pirate exhibition is exceedingly poor, lots of reading, nothing to hold the children's interest. Don't waste your money.
Do go to Jonnie Bakes, artisan bakery, on the road below the castle, wonderful coffee and cakes and a warm welcome.
