“Lovely restaurant”
Reviewed May 4, 2012

This was one of the restaurants we enjoyed most here. Excellent service and delicious food in a very attractive building. It was also the most expensive restaurant we tried, but not by a huge amount and in our opinion was worth it for the higher quality of the cooking. The rice dishes were particularly good.

“Food fine. Service amusingly inefficient”
Reviewed February 23, 2012

The food here is fine. It's a bit more expensive than other eateries along the Av Maritima but no better than the best of them.

It does try to be a bit more upmaket with liveried waiters and the decor. It rather falls flat on its face here - to an extent that was actually quite entertaining. We dined on a quiet night - perhaps 3 other tables occupied. We put our napkins on our lap. Then someone came with more napkins. We showed him that we already had some, but he was insistent that we had more, duly placed on our plates with fork and spoon. 2 minutes later someone else came by and took them away! Then someone came with cutlery appropriate to our main dishes, and minutes later someone else came by, took them away and replaced them. At the end of the meal someone came by with refreshing towels in a packet, and minutes later someone else came by, took them away and replaced them with a different type. It was quite funny - in a Basil Fawlty sort of way. If they were busy, given that no-one knows who is supposed to do what, heaven knows how they would fare!

“Nice place for quick meal”
Reviewed January 25, 2012

My wife and I called here for a quick lunch during our visit to Playa Blance and had an inside table away from those who have to smoke! Meal of Garlic Prawns and roasted Vegetables was superb washed down with a bottle of Rioja Rosado. Service from the staff was exemplary and the premises were spotlessly clean - we would come back here.

“A wonderful experience - an oasis of calm, quality and service”
Reviewed January 8, 2012

Situated on the main front of Playa Blanca on Lanzarote's southernmost coast, Almacen de la Sal is an oasis of calm, quality and service. It is a really lovely space in an old building that had been a salt store in a previous life and has been beautifully converted with a great affection to its maritime past.

The staff were deeply professional and charming and the food spectacular. We had the Chateaubriand cooked in front of us in three tranches and it was delicious. The wine list was very well put together and the 2006 Trasnocho Rioja quite superb.

If in Lanzarote again we will definitely return to Almacen de la Sal.
