“Great location and good value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2013

Two minutes from the marina and lovely 30 minute stroll to the centre of Playa Blanca. Clean, quiet apartments suitable for a couple or small family with basic kitchen equipment. Would not stay here all inclusive as too many lovely restaurants locally and felt the bar area etc., might be a bit boring night after night for us but might suit others. Overall great location and good value - would recommend.

Room Tip: We loved our pool facing balcony room

We have just returned from a week at the rubimar. We read the previous comments and found mainly good reviews. We weren't expecting 5*luxury (as justified in the price) but we went for the four star as we were going all inclusive and wanted good food. On the surface the hotel is lovely rooms are big and have all facilities clean on arrival. The pool is big and there are plenty of sunbeds to go around. But after a few days the cracks start to show. As from 11pm to 8am you can not get a drink not even water! The maids cleaning service leaves a lot to be desired. We had to ask for extra shampoo as it was not replaced. The selection of food is limited an half of the time you don't know what it is because the only things labelled are the sauces. The location of the hotel is good but the beach is about a ten minute walk so we decided to make sandwiches to take with us for lunch at breakfast but we were told by a rather moody waitress that we were not aloud to take any food out of the restaurant! We only had 2bread rolls! A lot of the staff were very unfriendly leaving the hotel with alack of atmosphere. Although Remir the only hotel entertainer who works mon to Friday is very good and try's his best to get people involved, you can certainly tell an evening when he is not there. I would say if you are self catering and want a peaceful holiday the hotel is great but if you go all inclusive you may be disappointed.

The hotel has new owners since the unfavourable reviews from2009.
The spotless
rooms have a bedroom ,bathroom and lounge/diner.They still have self catering facilities ie fridge, toaster, microwave ,coffee maker etcAir condit: and tv control both with their own remotes are 10e deposit per week.Towel hire 10e deposit and 5e per week.
Now Fully Inclusive they have a wide choice of food with a free bar which closes at 11pm.dont expect english brands you get the spanish equivalent.Children are well catered for with their own pool, play areaand disco hour till 9.30 pm.,after which salsa lessons on three nights with karaoke on fridays. This could do with a shake up as Sat and Sun entertainment was non existant ,(more life in a funeral parlour !)and lessons on 3 nights not good enough.
Tips-------------Bring your own soap/shower gel and shampoo as sachets provided will not last
also Thurs and Sundays are maids day off

All in all much improved could do better ,so lets start with the paper tablecloths !

Room Tip: my room 124 had entry at street level leading to a balcony overlooking the pool which would be ideal...

Just got back from a week at the Rubimar and to say I was shocked is really an under statement. When reading the reviews before booking I decided to ignore the few adverse comments as you always get someone happy to moan about just about everything and there were more good comments than bad. Boy I wish I had listened ! I went all inclusive to a 4 star in order to ensure I got decent food and decent standards..I would have got better in a 2 star. O.K the location was superb but that's were it stopped. The rooms were large but tired, I can live with that, but we only had maid service twice in 7 days, the towels stunk of dried milk. It was the food and drink that actually appalled me. There was never enough breakfast cooked as the chef was permanently in the back room, I resorted to yelling him to come out and cook ! As for lunch and dinner..we gave up after 2 days and eat out for the rest of the week, the sausages that were left over at breakfast came back in the evening in a salad ! There was no bottled water, limited drink choice and the red wine came out of a tap..cold. We resorted to buying our wine from the local supermarket and asking for empty wine glasses....they didn't even ask why. The entertainment in the evening was not worth staying in for, we did try to join in but salsa dancing 3 nights on the run gets...well... sad. I did complain to the reception staff but was told by a bored looking woman that some people actually liked the food, I asked if she could find me one but she just shrugged. I wasn't expecting the Ritz but after paying almost £600 for the week I was hoping for average, I got neither.

Room Tip: do not book rooms 201 or 202, the bottle banks are at the side and emptied every morning with great...

It was my first visit to Lanzarote.Absolutely loved it! It is a nice island that is suitable for quiet family holidays same as for more active time spending such as diving, surfing or snorkeling.
We stayed in the hotel in the third week of october, the weather was really nice at that time.
There is everything you need in hotel: spacious clean rooms, equipment kitchen, good size bathroom..big pool,
Excellent location: just 2 min walk to the grocery shops, piers, cafes and bars, 5 min walk from the nice sandy beach.
Friendly staff: i would like to pay a special attention to the kinds club, it was excellent! My 8 year old daughter couldn't wait to go there each morning. Rami, the guy-entertainer, who works there, is awesome! So energetic, open and good with the kinds... every day different activities for the kids and their parents :) .. really good job! Well done!
Despite all the above I would rate the hotel more as 3+ stars rather than 4 according my feelings but at the same time i can recommend it as it is a good value for money.

Location good, hotel/apartment a little tired. Actual apartment was a good size, and facilities generally good, although asked for a kettle on the first day but it never appeared. The pool was great and there was always plenty of loungers. The reception staff were helpful, the bar staff's attitude left a lot to be desired. The only down side to this was that although there was a bar at the pool, it only stayed open until 11pm and was very much geared to the "all inclusive" guest rather than the "self catering guest". The location, however I could not fault. A supermarket within 3 mins walk, and the Marina was a 2 min walk. The Marina restaurants, while lovely, were a little more expensive than the main resort of Playa Blanca but the food was faultless. I would recommend Blue Note Jazz Bar and Restaurant and Aphrodite Little Italy. Both fantastic.

Room Tip: If you can choose a room I would suggest overlooking the pool. The ones overlooking the marina don...
