my wife and i,and a friend stayed at the papagayo 9th-16th december, our fourth stay and our friend,s third.i have written a review once before ,after our first stay.firstly some minor criticism, which doesn,t detract from our enjoyment at the hotel.my wife and i had a double room(531)and our friend had a double for single use(515)our room was rather smaller than our friends room, but perfectly adequate for the two of us.we could have swapped ,i suppose, but our friend had been allocated her room first as ours was not ready, and she was happy where she was.our room was at the end of the corridor ,which i think, explains the size of the room.we had a better view of the sea,and over to fuerteventura.check in seems to take longer than other hotels we have stayed in.reception staff have to fill out a form manually which takes a bit of time,we have stayed in sol hotels and a swipe of your passport through a scanner and it is done in seconds.simples!!i know that you don,t go on holiday to watch the tv,but in the winter ,when it is dark early,it would be nice to have a bit more choice than bbc world news.this is the only english language channel available,so,come on management, and give us more choice,it can,t be that difficult.now the good points, which easily outweigh the minor moans.the staff are among the best we have encountered on our travels.always smart and courteous.the food is marvellous for a buffet,a good selection ,freshly prepared, although the plates could do with being warm.plenty of loungers ,you don,t have to be out early to book your spot, although a few guests do,despite notices forbidding placing towels on sunbeds ,then disappearing for a couple of hours.we like the position of the hotel and enjoy walking to playa blanca along the walkway ,stopping at the marina for a coffee etc.we hired a car,a fiat panda, which was adequate for the three of us.booked it through pluscars.picked it up at the airport and it only cost 77euros for the week.we booked the flights with jet2 from glasgow, and booked the hotel direct,on iberostar website.worked out a lot cheaper than a package.most guests seem to go all inclusive, but half board suited us fine .so,to sum up ,great hotel, marvellous staff, good food, all the ingredients for a good holiday.we will certailnly be back for a fifth visit.

we are currently 6 days in to our 10 day All Inclusive stay at Iberostar Papagayo at Playa Blanca and cannot fault anything. We upgraded to a seaview room which has a fantastic view of Papagayo Beach, you can alo see the distant dunes at Feurteventura.

The room is in very good condition with a shower over the bath and plenty of hot water at anytime, the tv is ideal for catching up with the news but that is the only English Channel. WiFi is available at €20 p/wk with the signal being very good anywhere in the hotel including your room.

The food is very good the breakfast has an excellent choice from fruit to cereal to full English served with piping hot coffee/tea or fresh juice. Lunch has a choice of various meats, pasta and rice or salad items, help yourself to wine or beer.

The pool bar serves late breakfast and lunch if you fancy continental or burgers, sandwiches and pizza, there is something for everyone. The evening meal again is a choice of varying meats, fish, pasta and rice and the salad a items and cakes/puddings served with various wines, beer or soft drinks. The staff are faultless nothing is too much bother and they are always smiling.

The location is a 20 minute walk along the promenade to Rubicon Marina where you will find various bars/restaurants with a further 20 minutes to the main town which is full of sea front restaurants. You can also walk 30 minutes in the opposite direction to Papagayo beach which is totally natural with none of the usual developments on it.

If you are on a budget and want to eat out meals at Rubican Marina vary from €7 to €17 with wine or a large beer starting at €3. There is a bus stop near by should not want to walk to town and a taxi is about €5 each way. There are various excursions available from the tour companies scattered around the marina, we went on the Raquel C which is an old Spanish sailing schooner which cost €45 for a 3 hour trip to Papagayo beach including tapas and drinks, the lady who runs it is very friendly along with the crew, el capitano will let you take the wheel and the crew let you help raise the sails I would recommend this trip as we thoroughly enjoyed it on Xmas day.

Be warned this is a far quieter resort than all of the others perfect for relaxing but not for raving, I am looking to come back next Christmas, well done to all the staff at the hotel and thank you for a super holiday

Room Tip: Upgrade to seaview on floor 3 it's level with the pool area and main restaurant

So, what was it like?

The food was excellent with a good selection in the buffet restaurant that should appeal to most palates. Cold plates often cooled your food too quickly. Snack food can be got from the pool bar.

Accommodation and house keeping are excellent and every member of staff friendly and helpful. A litre bottle of drinking water left in room daily.

The room:
Our room was on ground floor near main pool. Our own patio with two sun beds and a table and a little washing line. Nice room. Comfortable beds. But no drawers in the room, just rather pokey dark shelves in wardrobe.

To keep room from 11am (check-out time) until 2.30pm cost us 26.50 euros.

The hotel is situated to the east of Playa Blanca, away from the main resort. There is a beautifully laid out pedestrian walkway that leads down to the Rubicon Marina in under a 15 minutes walk or a 20 minute stroll.

The hotel runs a free courtesy bus 4 times a day to and from Playa Dorada, the main centre.

There is a solarium on the roof (FKK = Freikörperkultur = where you can get brown all over and no one thinks you're weird) which is adults only and very peaceful, although the sunbeds are not very comfortable and there could be more of them. There are more comfortable beds around the pools and plenty of them.

Pool towels can be exchanged on request and there are shelves of borrowable books in the towel room.

The Animation Team very cheerful, friendly and enthusiastic.

Evening entertainment good.

If you are heading to the Marina, Rubicon Dive Centre where we have often SCUBA dived with is a very professional outfit. Also at the Marina is the One Bar. Great place to relax with a drink, tapas or a meal. Try the camel kebabs tapas, if they are on. They taste great.

Good market down near Marina on Wednesday and Saturday.

The transfers to and from the airport can be either too long or drop you back to the airport too early. If it is within your budget and your plans to see the island, hire a car from the airport.
We hired a car (through Cabrera Medina) and had a really interesting time visiting Timanfeya, the Cesar Manrique Foundation, the Jameos del Agua, the Cactus Garden and the Cueva de los Verdes.

We have just returned from a very pleasant week at this hotel. We booked a sea view room and it was well worth the extra money, directly overlooking the marine walk and only yards from the sea with views of the Papagayo beaches and Fuerteventura . The room itself was spacious clean and comfortable but despite having a lot of wardrobe space perhaps it could have done with more drawers for storage.
Food at the hotel was plentiful and good quality. The dining room itself was fairly typical of hotel buffet restaurants, large and canteen like with tables too close and little imagination in their layout.
We booked half board but were able to have the same drinks as the all inclusive guests for just six euros each per night, this included beer, wines, soft drinks and sparkling water, very good value.
The pool area was pleasant and the pool itself not too cold to get in (we went in everyday) and there were Jacuzzi type jets in the pool which made it more fun (although these only came on in the afternoon).
The staff at the hotel were all very pleasant helpful and added to the enjoyment of staying in the hotel.
Around and about a short not too demanding walk of about 20 minutes takes you to the Papagayo beaches which are well worth the effort. In the opposite direction you quickly come to the Rubicon marina with many waterside restaurants and bars. Further along is the more commercial part of Playa Blanca.

Room Tip: Buy a sea view room and ask for a high floor.

Stayed at this hotel from the 6th-13th December, for our honeymoon and an early Christmas present for our son, absolutely brilliant stay! We paid £20 for a weeks internet and had no problems.... An I used it alot to update facebook with photos and let my son watch videos on youtube before bed. Food was really nice, and staff were extremely good, especially Rosalia Diaz (sorry if i've spelt her name wrong) my son loved coming to see her and shout "Hola" at her at meal times. The kids club was good and the girls were lovely, same with the disco, the children had a lot of fun, and it was nice as even though my son was younger than 4 he was still able to take part with the other children. The free bus to the beach was a good idea and wasn't to far from the hotel.

Room Tip: Stayed in room "416"

My partner and I live in Lanzarote, and have stayed in this fabulous hotel on a few occasions.

It is a fairly small, friendly hotel, with attractive pools, and the staff always seem to remember us, which makes a pleasant change these days!

The hotel is managed to a very high standard, with professional & courteous staff.

It is a very clean & tidy hotel, and the food is always varied and most delicious!

We would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone, residents & tourists alike.

Room Tip: Our latest room was on the ground floor, and had its own small terrace which led to the pool. Ver...
