everything good here the only couple of things stopping a 5 star was the pool tables need refurbishment drastically, often balls get stuck so not fair once your money has been taken, considering the amount of guests using them, so does the bar football but all in all food good, very clean, helpfull staff,
Be aware the super market sells things that are left behind by pool so thats a bit naughty one last thing buy ciggys/tobacco at airport g/virginia only 36.50 at airport

Just got back from this hotel, absolutely fantastic, the staff are excellent always friendly.
The cleaners are meticulous and the rooms get cleaned daily the bar and pool area are cleaned every morning.
I was on holiday at the same time as big Gary P and the incident he mentioned was the only downside staff did nothing i believe after these reviews the first aid training will be reviewed, i would of given a 5 rating if it wasnt for that.
The animacion team were superb especially Charlie who worked tirelessly daily with a smile glued to his face!! Great with the kids and also the adults. If you are considering a affordable holiday in Playa Blanca book this for a fun and memorable holiday. 11pm cut off was fine for me i had no problems with that, off back next year for my 40th Trigger!!!!

Room Tip: Take a torch if arriving at night.

We had been booked into the Club Playa Blanca (20th Oct for a week ) but on arrival we were asked whether we would like to move to the Rio as I think they were very full and wanted to fill up the Rio a bit as it certainly wasn't full They provided a taxi and we had a look before committing and all seemed nice so decided to stay here.
Well the staff couldn't have been more helpful from helping about car hire, a problem with a light in the room which was quickly resolved to generally good and happy service.
The management team were introduced at one point and the general manager was always seen to be out and about on the premises which showed he was interested in maintaining and improving standards .
Rooms were basic but comfortable and quiet set in nice and well maintained gardens . As we don't spend much time in the rooms on holiday then they are perfectly adequate.
The food was excellent and with different choices at Dinner every night and breakfast was a lot better than some hotels with freshly cooked produce arriving regularly
The drinks are served in plastic cups apart from in the restaurant as the bar is outside in the pool area so its for safety reasons and choices are adequate though should have a substitute for something like baileys ! The all inclusive did finish at 11 but that does seem to be the norm out in the Canaries unless in a 5 star maybe .
We generally didn't stay by the pool but on the one occasion we did we noticed a lot of the sun beds were past there best and could do with replacing though there were plenty of them .Another suggestion would be to have an iron and kettle in the rooms as standard as had to borrow the iron from reception and take back when finished and had to ask for a kettle (which was supplied quickly)
Overall then a very pleasant stay and very helpful staff

Never been AI. Most hotels do AI until midnight al least but here its 11pm then after that you pay no matter what. Most good hotels offer you an alternative local drink. Vermouth, bianco & red but no dry unless you pay. Baileys you pay with no alternative offered. Tia Matia you pay and again no alternative. You can count the amount of AI drinks on 2 hands. Moito with white rum (available on AI as is lime) but to have this cocktail is 4 euro. All the drinks are seved in thin plastic glasses and the only time you get a glass is in the so called resturant for wine or juice. The waiting staff need lessons in smiling too. Shortage of health & Saftey training here for staff. Incident happenend & nobody knew first aid or where there was a first aid box. One credit to the hotel was Charlie from the ents team who made my holiday with his hard work. Waterpolo 7-7 after 30 goals!! keep up the good work Charlie.

Room Tip: swimming pool lovely.

Dear guest of the Rio Playa Blanca Hotel,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write your review, and for your valuable feedback.

We are sorry to learn that you have not entirely enjoyed your holiday with us, and that you were not happy with the hotel´s All Inclusive Arrangements.

We always strive to strive to deliver the best possible service to our guests, and the Food & Beverage Arrangements are of course an important part of this. The All Inclusive arrangements include as advertised all local alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages from 10:00am to 23:00 every day, as well in the restaurant as in the bar. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served buffet style in the restaurants, and there are snacks served additionally during the day around the poolbar.
For safety reasons, no glassware is used to serve drinks around the pool, and plastic cups are used instead. We are aware of the fact that this might not have the same appeal to it as drinks served in a glass, but we do hope for your understanding in this matter, as safety of our guests and especially the children is in this case our first priority.

Our team members in the respective areas are trained for First Aid help and medical care is of course available on call 24 hours.

We would like to thank you again for your recent stay with us and hope that we will be able to welcome you again in one of our Hoteles Lopez .
With best regards

Having read mixed reviews I was optimistic prior to the holiday. However the rio playa blanca is a great hotel. Accomadation is basic but very spacious and clean, there is house keeping every day. All the bungalows are set in well maintained gardens, with private terraces. The food was good with plenty of choice, I don't know how people could say the menu was repetitive. My 5 year old daughter loved the kids club, pool and evening entertainment which is aimed at younger children until later in the evening when the adult entertainment starts. I requested a kettle for the room for making baby bottles, which arrived within 15 mins. Safety harnesses on the high chairs are needed as we had to stand guard when my 7 month old was sat in them! Would def stay here again.

Room Tip: The site is quite large, so if you don't want to walk too far ask for a central location. Be awa...

We left the hotel on 11th October after a pleasant 11 day break. Our single bedroomed bungalow was clean, air-conditioned and completely free of noise from clickety-clackety heels that some women feel it necessary to wear when walking over tiled floors.
We didn't bother with the TV remote as it was not beyond the wit of man to press the button on the TV itself to find the only channel in English (CNN).
The food selection was varied and well presented. Being boring I always have bacon and eggs for breakfast, so my only quibble is that the fried eggs were so long on display that, though looking good, they had the texture of rubber. Some of the bar staff (male) could do with more training.
The nearby beach (300 yards) was delightful. The town itself was exactly what you would expect from a resort development - completely devoid of character, but with the ubiquitous array of clothes and shoe shops, bars, restaurants and the usual tat.
If we hadn't hired a car for 4 days we would have been bored, but being able to scoot around on our own broke up the pool/beach routine nicely. Lanzarote's roads must be the best in Europe. It was like driving on a billiard table - thanks. of course, to our EU contributions. The (enforced) speed limits and general courtesy of other drivers made it one of the best driving experiences I have had overseas.
If we do decide to have another holiday on arid volcanic (dormant) Canary Island then it will be at the Hotel Rio, Playa Blanca, Lanzarote.

Room Tip: If you are towards to SW of the site you will be nearer the gate which gives closer access to the be...

We have just returned from a 10 day break at the HL Rio, we have 2 teenage children and they both loved the place. Overall the hotel is excellent, the only down side could be the cleanliness of the appartments and the state of the mattresses, either being rock hard or you could feel every spring. This is only a minor glitch in an overall excellent holiday, all staff being very attentive, especially the animation team, Charlie gets everybody going every morning with cry's of 'in the pool'. There is always plenty of sun beds what ever time of day you go to the pool. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the centre of Playa Blanca. In our opinion this hotel does not live up to its 4 star rating but is definitely a 3 star plus.
