“Very enjoyable holiday”
Reviewed February 8, 2011

My husband and I (no longer spring chickens) stayed from 13 to 20 January. When we arrived we were quickly checked in at about 1.50pm and advised that we still had time to get lunch as the restaurant did not stop serving until 2.30pm. This was appreciated as we had left our house at 3.30am to get to the airport for our flight. We were in apartment A37 which was ideally located for all amenities. It was spotlessly clean and spacious though the fixtures and fittings were a bit dated. All the staff in the resort are so efficient and friendly. It was also good to see that Angel was out and about in the complex taking an interest, not like many hotels where the manager is never seen. It is also refreshing to see other members of the mangagement team so "hands on". The food was very good and we liked the idea of the "upstairs restaurant" The whole of the complex is so clean and the staff are always clearing up - it must be so frustrating having to clear up after so many people, some of whom are very inconsiderate. The entertainment team worked really hard.and the showsthat were put on were enjoyable. Jenni you are a ray of sunshine. Had a great holiday and good weather and would certainly come back but it would be in the winter again as I believe it would be too busy in the summer months when it is a holiday village. Anybody who is thinking of going to Flamingo Beach, ignore the negative comments and give it a try. I am sure you will enjoy as much as we did.

Stayed here after much searching, been to Lanzarote twice previously but not to this resort.
The first evening we stayed in Apartment 51B. Arrived late, so didn`t unpack, luckily. Unfortunately, didn`t get any sleep as over a generator. Reception and our rep Bethany
had us moved immediately to room 79B. Everything ok,,,, for the next four nights then the first cockroach appeared in the living area, then a second one. Found an aerosol under the sink
and sprayed............... I went to bed then woken by my husband who found one on his bed side table, not really the best
thing to see next to you in the early hours. Informed reception next day. Maintenance Guy left a spray in our room!!!!!. We did notice that the couple in the apartment next door had gone, thought they had flown home probably on a shorter holiday..... Saw them in the restaurant told us that they had cockroaches in theirs and had asked to be moved. We had assumed that our visitors had flown in through our open bedroom window.
We then kept all windows shut and slept with light on. The cockroaches appeared again
two nights before we went home at 2am on my bed side table... Must admit my husband didn`t sleep in our room tended to stay on couch in the living area. Rang reception and were moved to a standard
apartment 61B immediately. Was I worried about it not being superior at this time of night no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our rep Dave had a word with the Assistant Manager who gave us 50Euros towards a meal for our inconvenience. To be honest we tended to eat out after finding the cockroaches...... This is fine but please try and erradicate
these cockroaches by closing up holes to pipelines under the sink and sealing completely. We know the Canaries invite cockroaches in from Africa but not in my apartment please. The block that we were in needs to be looked at immediately and find out where the sewerage smell is coming from. Wouldn`t like my child to be sleeping in one of the beds next to the floor. I really didn`t want to post this on the site but what should have been a relaxing holiday turned into a " Can`t wait to get home story"

Dear customers
Thank you for your email.
Even though we are very close to Africa the cockroaches have never been an issue here. What happened that week you stayed here is that we did our semester fumigation in the pipes and some of them came out trying to escape. That was the reason why. I do apologise if you had any of them. I understand that they are really ugly though they are not dangerous.
best regards

Just came back from the flamingo beach we stayed 20-27th Jan 11 and we had a couple of bad storms while we were there, we were very lucky with our rooms not flooding, I know quite a few people had terrible trouble also the sea front was flooded and we couldn't get into the beach resaturant on the tuesday morning for breaksfast there were buckets everywhere, it was not bad, there is a smell of sewage around the grounds, but I've come to take this as the norm, we visit the canaries two-three times a year and most places see to have the sewage smell, the food was great and plenty of choice and variety, the beach is a stones throw away, the harbour a 10 minute walk away you can catch the bus around playa blanca for 1 euro 15 cent so cheap enough, it is a childrens hotel so not much to do for the teenagers however mine used the gym, you have to be over 16, used the tennis courts, and played pool, the entertainment is limited and Jenny one of the entertainers did her best bless her, but it has usually wound up by 10.30pm, we ate upstairs in the restaurant (it's for adults and children over 12's) it was the other eaters that gave us filthy looks, we have 4 very well behaved teenagers some of the adults were terribly behaved, the staff were brilliant very friendly having a joke and a laugh, me and my daughter both celebrated our birthdays while we were there and the hotel staff sent one of their cleaners down with a bottle of wine which was very kind, the only reason why I wouldn't return is because it is geared up for under 12's and it is mainly full of sweden's scandinavians, germans and norwegians and the entertainment around the pool is very limited but still a lovely place great staff and clean apts would definately recommend for those with small children.

Dear customers,
Thank you for your review.
Yes we had very bad weather in the Canaries last week. Fortunatelly it is nover. As you know in winter the hotel is not a Holiday village though First choice keeps the Kids club. From October to April, 40% of our customers are british and the rest are scandinavians. IN summer 100% of our customers are British. Howebver I always find interesting getting to know new people from different nationalities. It is one way to open the minds, specially for the children (and learn some foreign words in some cases!). The evening entertainment in Blue moon bar is carried out by a top swedish company performing live music and always in English. We also have the Sports bar for those that wish a quiet drink or to listen to live English music on tuesdays. I am happy that you enjoyed the Food and beverage offer. Most of our customers are very happy with it. As for the adult restaurants it is true that the rule is over 12 years. The idea is to avoid noise coming from babies. In winter we do receive many couples.
best regards

Have been here the last 10 years, some year 2 times summer and winter .The hotel is just getting better and better. Nice pools, many sunbeds, the most lovely beach is back. The staff are so friendly and do you need help there are always someone to ask. Nice and clean room. The service is in top, if you have a special roomnumber you want to book, the hotel is ready to listen. I stayed here for a week with a 3 and 1 year old on an all inclusive basis. The weather was generally okay with heavy rain during some of the evenings but during the day it was mainly sunny with some cloud. The temperature was good and always warm apart from one day when it was very windy. The hotel is fantastic for children. The beach is one of the best I have seen and ideal for my young children. There is a good choice of pools including kiddie pools. There is always some form of entertainment and activities for older children. The food was fabulous and the fact they offer a choice of restuarants which includes one for children under 12 takes the pressure off our youngsters being loud and making a mess in the restaurant as everyone else is in the same boat. There was always a good choice at meal times in the buffet restaurant and the staff were very friendly. The ice cream was good and the beer and wine is very drinkable. Entertainment is available in the evenings for all ages. The rooms are very basic and not up to 4 star standard as Thomson say this hotel is and there could be improvement there. All in all a very good holiday with yound children and a good time to go as not too hot or too busy.

Dear customers,
Thanks for your words.
I am happy that you enjoyed your holidays. As for what you mention about our rooms, they are functional. They are designed for families (fully equipped kitchenette, independent bedroom, large terrace, etc). All in all they are big enough if you compare them with a typical hotel tiny bedroom and bathroom. We installed air conditioning last season also. As I said they are not luxurious but they functional, clean and suitable for families. I think this is the important issue when you travel with 1 or 2 children. As you say the food is fabulous. We have top chefs in Flamingo and it is true that the hotel ticks all boxes: couples, families, children, mixed nationalities in winter, etc. Fortunatelly all of them go home very satisfied and this is what encourages us to go on working harder an harder.

we returned from holiday. on monday 31.01.2011, and I have no complaints this hotel does exactly what it says on the tin and with a 4 year old in tow is perfect.
the food was great, even though I do get bored of buffetts but worth it with the said 4 year old in tow it was ideal and the staff were very friendly to all the kids.
Nice to have a change of scenery at the beach club for lunch some days and on our last night we went for our evening meal and the steak was lovely. My daughter went to the first choice kid club three times and really enjoyed herself . the Entertainment at night provided by the scandanvian reps was prob the best we have seen in a hotel setting.

the pool was lovely , i agree that i feel the sun loungers on the beach were dear at 9 euros a day!!

it rained a few of the nights we were there and we had no problem in our apartment with flooding, we must be a lucky.. all in all a great family holiday with a young child..thanks x
