TUI Family Life Flamingo Beach Resort
Ranked #20 of 37 Hotels in Playa Blanca
Reviewed January 3, 2013

Me and my wife went here during the christmas holidays (14-28th december). Location of the hotel is perfect with its beach very close to it. It is also quite close to the village of Playa Blanca, about 5-10 min walk and offers all kinds of shop you would need. Coming from a nordic country the weather was excellent. On the bad side, the bed mattresses were stiff like nothing before and my wife got back pains just after one night. The hotel were friendly enough to give us extra thinner (and soft) mattresses that eased it, delivered the same day without any problems. Bedlinen could need a overhaul, some pillows, sheets and pillow cases had old darkish stains on them. It wasn't clear if the pillows themselves where changed and washed between guests but it didn't seem so. Our cleaning lady was very friendly, although she didn't speak one word in english, except "cleaning", and she seemed very stressed with her work and wasn't very thorough: there very hairs left in the bathtub, the floors where never cleaned during our stay, just quickly swept. One annoying thing was that there were no "do not disturb" sign available so if you wanted to sleep in the cleaning lady rang the door and let herself in anyway. We don't have any children but our neighbors did, which was heard loud and clear through the walls. If you travel as a couple without children and want more quiet room the hotel next door is a couples resort and would be more appropriate. But we choose to stay here because of the ability to cook your own food some days (not available at the couples hotel). If the hotel could plan how guest are given their rooms this would be easily addressed. We didn't have all inclusive as we find eating out at restaurants or home made food better then hotel buffets, but that is up to you to decide of course.

Room Tip: Give premium room a second thought if you desire a soft, cosy bed.

Dear customers
Thank you for your email.
I will order the signs for the rooms as you suggested. On the other hand I am a bit sad that you did not find the food up to what you wished. However the majority of our nordic and British customers think in a different way. Sometimes the fact that we eat abroad and discover different food and tastes can lead us to think that it was not what we had at home (in Scandinavia in your case). Actually what we wish is to show our customers some examples of the Spanish and Canarian cuisine and all our local flavours (tapas for example). This culinary experience is what can make your holidays different and special. In one word: tasteful.
If I travel to one nordic country and I try cold smoked salmon or if I go to Uk and try the kidney pie I could say that I liked or disliked it as they are not Spanish dishes. However I can never say that they are not good. They are just part of the identity of the country and it is always nice to discover new things (by the way I like both the salmon and the kidney pie).
Anyway I really hope to see again soon and talk about Food and beverage,
regards
Angel

The pizzas served here are just so SCRUMMY x
they have Lovely thin pizza bases and delicious toppings.
Soft drinks, coffee and beer served also.
There is a lovely view from the terrace of Restaurante Casa Joaquin as you can see.
We got a takeaway one night to take back to our bungalow as we had been out all day since very early on and just couldn't be bothered to go back, get changed and go out again, so we scoffed lovely pizza when we got back..

The apartment and public spaces were clean. The staff was very nice. The entertainment was decent. It most definitely caters to families, which we appreciated since we have small children. The First Choice excursions were a good time. My 5-yr old enjoyed the Kids' Club activities he participated in, but most are early in the day & we couldn't use because we were on an excursion. We had to pay a little for the evening parties. You can't leave your kids and do an excursion because their activities only last 2 hours at a time, with an hour or more break between. Also, my son got sick one day & we couldn't go on a booked excursion. The First Choice people were not at their desk when they said they'd be & we're still trying to get a hold of someone to try for a refund. Have little hope. A creche was advertised online with no distinction it was summer only. Thinking it would be available had an impact on me choosing this place & I was disappointed it turned out untrue for our stay. For a place that calls itself a resort there were many easily fixable small details lacking. Our closet door didn't work properly, the trash lid was broken, the towels are the thinnest I've seen. The trundle bed badly needed replacing. We put an extra mattress cover on it for our 2-yr old. The TV is ridiculous. Plus, they really ought to put one in the main bedroom too. Would have been nice sometimes after we had to put the kids to bed. There was one day the maid didn't come, & probably would have been two had I not requested t since my kid got a stomach bug. The food was not great. We quickly got tired of the buffet. The Tex-Mex is a joke. Please, that is NOT Tex-Mex. The best place was an Argentinian steak house we discovered about a mile away. The most entertaining was the steak house/Asian restaurant in the resort. It's not part of the all-inclusive of course. I would not stay there again.

Hubby..9yr old daughter and I went 23-30 December. Couldn't fault hotel for staff..cleanliness..food amazing..wonderful location..red wine very good!! Only bugbear really was 'gym'..this should be shut down as the very limited amount of equipment was mainly broken and the treadmill dangerous..shame but the promenade makes a fantastic place for a run anyway! Shelly..Laura and Rachel in Kid's Club were fantastic...our daughter was upset to leave then and it wad hugs all 'round at the airport. Entertainment as expected with a few tweaks this could be made better..ie not having a break with not even background music..good for us it finished early as we had room directly above bar..early start too as bottles being recycled into bank opposite the hotel. Mainly Scandanavians there st Xmas and oh some are so rude not acknowledging you if you moved out the way for them and not a friendly smile EVER! Don't know why people moan about Germans..maybe Brits get mixed up with them as Germans are well friendly whereas the Scandanavians weren't lol. Would go back though..preferably when the Scandanavians were all working..every one of them!!! Downstairs family resetaurant like a feeding farm..very hectic but the staff do an amazing job to keep everyone happy. Fab family holiday..wouldn't go as a couple tho.

We travelled Dec 6-13 booked last minute much needed relaxation break, thats what we got and much more! First time in Lanzarote and all inclusive. Food was exceptional and suited 2 different palets breakfast you made it your own fresh fruit salads freshly cooked omlelettes lunch and dinner lots of fish, meats ,salads, cheeses, vegetables, with a varity to suit both of us and still the option to eat healthy. we never ventured out of village as we felt we did not need to. We used the upstairs restaurant (no children allowed for dinner, and the staff were very strict with this policy). Wine and beer lovley!

Rooms basic and clean which we only used to sleep in. Staff cannot fault, friendly and helpful.
5 minutes walk to beach, and great promenade walk which would lead to the town and other resorts.

I would return!!

Room Tip: stayed upper floor no 8a very quiet.

We travelled out for Christmas this year, 2 adults, 2 children (7 and 4). We had a great time, and the weather was unexpectedly warm and we spent 3 days on the fabulous beach.
The beach was spotless, sun beds not too expensive for a day E 9,- and the water was very shallow so very suitable for children. The buffet gave a great choice every day, very fresh and the staff was very friendly and polite. Our room was sufficient, it had what we needed. Unfortunately the main pools weren't heated and the sauna pool was prohibited for children, after a minor discussion with the reception girls we were allowed. The entertainment was mainly Scandinavian, but we enjoyed it anyhow and so did the kids. We had a great time and yes I can see where some complaints written below came from but it doesn't weigh up to the fabulous time we had!

Room Tip: we had room 37B close and far away enough from the pool, restaurant and entertainment and 4 mins wal...

We travelled out to the flamingo beach for Christmas 3 adults 2 children we had two apartments with a great view A55-A56 very nice and big and cleaned five out of the seven we were there all hotel staff were very polite and helpful the food was of a very good standard we all have put on a lot of weight we could not fault it the breakfast was very good so much choice there was always something to eat and plenty of it
Always found a sun bed by the pools we liked the pool right at the end of the complex a bit quieter with a nice littler bar the kids went a bid mad with the free flow of ice cream on tap
The bar staff all so good and polite the blue moon bar was the main place for entertainment but it all fell a bit flat after 10.00 nit even putting any music on to listen or to dace to
The Atlantic bar was our favourite the barmen there were brilliant always running around cleaning you table and refilling the peanuts for you TAHER was a great guy new what we wanted to drink when we got to the bar what more can I say top guy all in all a fantastic holiday need to do a bit more entertainment after 10.00 and more for the English speaking

Email angel for any room info we did this and got what we wanted thank you angel
These guys work so hard to keep us happy a small tip goes a long way
