“Faultless? A little more like Faulty Towers........!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2013

My mother and I stayed here for 10 days late September. The hotel location was ideal. We had a Suite in Block A, 3rd floor, with large balcony. The view was nothing special, we could just about view the sea while squinting through the leaves of the Palm trees opposite. The beds were certainly very clean but pillows and mattresses uncomfortable; the bedroom had paper-thin walls and was facing the interior of the Hotel, it was so dark and dismal in there that we had to put the lights on all the time (during the day); at night we had the pleasure of hearing the stomping of many feet and screaming kids going past to their rooms, until midnight. Not pleasant. The maids were attentive, leaving chocolates on the bedsheets, but despite a very generous tip from me (7 Euros) they still tried to charge us for a bottle of juice that we never even drank! (minibar much too expensive, the supermarket is much cheaper). The breakfasts were fantastic and plentiful, if it weren't for a member of kitchen staff who stuck his bare fingers into a plate of fresh (microwaved) pancakes to check if they were hot enough or not (yuck). I was unfortunate to see this but was so appalled that I could not say anything rightaway (now I wish I did). The poor waiters were vastly overworked and as a consequence my mother often had to wait well over 15 minutes at breakfast-time just to get a new teabag and fresh pot of boiling water, as there was just nobody around to ask. Most of the poor staff seemed harassed, running around with mountains of plates, pale and sweating, but no wonder when the hotel does not provide enough staff at busy breakfast times. The hotel interior is beautiful but poorly signposted, it took 2 days to find our way around! The hotel restaurants were so expensive (8-12 euros just for a starter) that we ate out all the time we were there (luckily there were many inexpensive and great restaurants in the vicinity). The pool area was wonderful, but we could not find a free sunbed anywhere for 2 days running as the beds had been "claimed" from dawn til dusk by zealous holidaymakers (mostly by Brits as there was hardly any Germans around) by putting blue handtowels over them and then not even using the beds! Extremely annoying. My mother and I complained to the pool management who agreed this was a common problem but they were unable to do anything. The person on reception (when we checked in) even managed to mix up our passports and other travel documents which was not okay (we sorted it out in the end), cheerfully admitted the hotel complex was rather large and confusing, before finally escorting us to the WRONG room (our room was in fact next door)! When we did get into the right suite, we realised the main telephone in the bedroom area was broken and so could not ask reception how long it would be before we received our luggage; we had to wait over 25 minutes until our suitcases finally arrived. Terrible service, I was nearly crying with frustration and rage. Instead of first being told the basic relevant things like where the breakfast area was and when breakfast was served we had to listen to her telling us how great the Japanese sushi bar was, which is the last thing anyone would want to hear after a long tiring (delayed) flight and transfer. The check-in procedure was nightmarish to say the least. The atmosphere in the hotel at night resembled that of a cemetary and nobody could give me an answer as to why no Spanish music - salsa or other - was ever played. I was sternly told that the "most of the tourists like to hear familiar music". On retrospect, I would not return here and for the reasons stated, I do not think the 5 stars plus are in any way justified. I actually feel quite disappointed and cannot agree with comments that praise this hotel to the skies. Next time I will book the Iberostar Anthelia hotel again on Costa Adeje, in Tenerife, the very best hotel I have been in up to present!

Room Tip: Higher floors, but not in Block A. If you have the money, invest in a superior suite.

Easily the best 10 day family holiday we have ever had. From start to finish a faultless experience.
Princess yaiza is a true 5 star hotel, with 5 star customer service.
Rooms - we had a suite, bedroom with a separate living room and big balcony. Beds are extremely comfortable and there is a pillow menu to choose as meany different types a you want. Small kitchenette with micro and kettle. Extremely quiet and pitch black, best night sleep I have had in a while ( have 3 year old)
Food - breakfast is amazing, big variety , all fresh. Omelettes cooked to order, on for 3 hours.
Buffet meals at night are expensive but very nice, I personally would not go half board as there are lovely restaurants a short walk away, you can try the buffet when you get there anyway and get a discount by paying at the front desk.
Location- right on the beach, beautiful and clean, great for swimming.
Hotel itself- incredibly clean, staff are all very polite and friendly.
Great for families of all ages.
Lovely spa. Multiple pools and restaurants.
We really did not want to leave and will definitely be going back next year

Room Tip: Aim for floor 3 and above.

We ended up staying here after having problems with a villa we had been in. As a frequent visitor to the area it is the hotel I have always passed by on the beach promenade and wanted to venture into, with their lovely shops and restaurants. The place is simply stunning with a selection of pools- salt water, heated, non heated. Warm Jacuzzi, loungers in the pools.

The staff are amazing and Daniel number one as he likes to be called was fantastic in gov ok by us a tour of the hotel whilst on route to our room. I use the word room loosely as it was more of a suite.....amazing huge bed with chocolates every night, tv with lots of channels in English, gorgeous bathroom with double sinks and to top it off a walk in wardrobe!!

I could write.an.essay on this place but don't want to spoil things for people...it is definitely a must!!

Having seen the open door from the promanade and the non residents welcome to join the restaurant bar area signs we thought for Saturday Jazz Night we would try this. Being smartly dressed we went in and sat down at a table. Maitre D and waiters hovering around, some looked at us but said nothing. After ten minutes no one had approached, not one word was spoken. We looked at one another, stood up and left. We did not return. They were not busy and to ignore potential customers I felt was very ignorant.

The hotel is lovely, we stayed in an excellence room which had an additional living room/dining room, so more than enough room for 2! From check in to check out all the staff members were very friendly and could not do enough for you, including leaving chocolates in the room every night. The beach opposite is great and the hotel is a short stroll to the Marina and Playa Blanca for a great choice of restaurants and bars. Breakfast had something for everyone, we also tried the tapas restaurant which was very good. Try the 4 Lunars bar for a live jazz band and cocktails.

Room Tip: A sea view room is a must

We returned to Lanzarote, to the Princesa Yaiza for 10 days this year to spend a few sunny days on this wonderful island. Last year we were transferred do this beautiful hotel after having been evinced from a terrible 4 star house in Puerto del Carmen for having published a quite negative critic on tripadvisor.

Back to topics ... we arrived at the Hotel Lobby, check-in was quick an very... very friendly... our Junior Suite was ready at 10 a.m. so we could get into our room directly upon arrival.

And our holidays started off immediately. Very nice pools, one with sea water an you never had the impression of an overcrowded Hotel even though it was fully booked.

During our stay we attended mainly The Yaiza Restaurant, The Piazzetta - Italian as well as the Kampai Japanese, which merits special attention.

The staff all over the Hotel, starting with the team at the reception, the PR - Lady "Elke" - Restaurant, Bar & Pool staff were more than friendly and helpful an fulfilled every wish you had.

Hotel is very clean - and the housemaids do a fantastic job.

One black oder let's say grey spot - Some people start reservind sunbeds before the sun is even up. Last year this "war" started at 9 when most people got off from breakfast and exchanged their "toalla tajetes" against a towel an then continued to "their" sunbed.

It did non bother me as there were enough bed free even at noon, in the sun as well as in the shadow.

We appreciatet the sunbeds located in the pool itself. Combined to good weather this is the place to relax, read an listen to music.

Overall a great hotel - one of the best I know.

For sure we will return.

Room Tip: Book a junior suite on the 6th floor with view on Fuerteventura.....

Having just returned from a wonderful holiday at Princesa Yaiza - from the check-in with glass of cava to the nightly chocolates on the bed it was fantastic. We were on our silver wedding anniversary and were given a sea view room and complimentary bottle of Cava - great touch. The room was great with King-size bed and everything anyone could wish for in a hotel room. Quality bathroom with bathrobes to use, the TV had good selection of British channels. The balcony had great view of the near by Marina Rubicon and brilliant sea view. Breakfast buffet style was the best range of breakfast variety I have ever seen from cheeses ,cold meats, full English , to cereals and fresh fruits . pancakes and Cava ! Fabulous Pools which were warm enough for me. Cannot fault any of the staff all I found were very friendly and seemed to make sure that everything was OK. We stopped on B&B basis and this suited us as we liked to eat out in the evening the hotel position is brilliant to walk to the many restaurants on long the promenade - we did eat in the Isle du Lobos restaurant expensive but excellent food. Entertainment a bit hit or miss but this is just a matter of personal taste. Overall we had great time - just one minor point a charge for replacement tea bags / coffee seemed to be a bit strange for this quality of hotel - but this is really being picky - If you have the budget then give this place a try.
