We stayed here in August last year and have already rebooked to stay in July this year. We've never returned to a hotel but this hotel has everything we need. We stayed in the 1 bed suites which consist of a very large bedroom, lovely bathroom, passageway and lounge. Our kids slept on sofa beds in the lounge and were very comfortable. The room also has a kitchenette inside a cupboard with microwave, fridge, sink etc. which is essential when you have to wash bottles etc.
The food was really good quality and there are many restaurants in the vicinity to suit everyone's palatte. All in all a great hotel and we've had excellent service and response from Mili with our rebooking (done through Sovereign)

Room Tip: Have heard the family rooms are noisy and further away, 1 bed suites are perfectly suitable for fami...

We stayed in Suite 336 at the Princesa.
Let's start with the balcony. It was roomy, comfortable and gave us a view straight out to the pool. On the first morning I felt a bit disappointed to find the early sun coming from behind our block. But, the disappointment did not last long when we discovered that we had beautiful sunshine from 2pm onwards each day! The sitting room/living room opened onto the balcony, so the balcony was ideal for sitting having a drink or a snack prepared at the dining table inside.
The Sitting Room was spacious. It had a dining table for four, sofas and coffee table. There was a large TV, with a limited number of English Language channels. I doubt that you will spend much time watching TV in any case.
The Bedroom had two comfortable and large single beds which could serve as a very large double. Extra pillows and blankets are supplied, just in case you feel the nights chilly. What we really liked was the amount of floor space and the wardrobe spaces in a room with such large beds. There is another small balcony opening off the bedroom onto the inner corridor of the hotel but it seems to serve little purpose.
The Bathroom has a sunken bath, a separate and powerful shower, and double washbasins. Toiletries provided are good.
There is a toilet which is separated from the bathroom by a glass panelled door.
The so-called kitchenette is enclosed behind doors in the hallway space as you enter the Livingroom/Sittingroom. The two doors slide inwards to allow you more space for working. There is a kettle, a sink and a microwave. These would suggest that you could cook a snack, but we were disappointed to find nothing more than cups, glasses and spoons. No utensils, No plates, no bowls, so what is the point of providing the above equipment?
The Hotel itself is massive, so be prepared to walk long corridors to rooms. There are several lifts.
The Lobby is BIG.
Reception is at seated level, a more comfortable idea. The receptionists, like all other staff in the Princesa, are pleasant and helpful. We were greeted with champagne. In the lobby you will also find a desk dedicated to helping you with your holiday, although you may be advised to check prices for tours against those charged locally.
Dining at the Hotel is available at a range of restaurants, either within the hotel building or just past the pools. Breakfast is available at two restaurants at the level below reception. It can take a little time to adjust to having Reception on Level 4, which is in fact level with the main road to the front of the hotel, while the back of the hotel drops down to the level of the seafront and the magnificent 'boardwalk' above the beach.
Breakfast is full-on with choices of cereals, juices, fruits, cold meats, a range of breads, and a hot counter where you can choose for yourself or request a dish cooked in front of you. You can even have a champagne breakfast, so indulge yourself. There were nice touches for children and for Valentines while we were there.
Were there any shortcomings?
I preface my comments here by emphasising the 5 STAR rating of the hotel.
The aforementioned kitchenette has a meanness about it. Poorly equipped; no cooking facilities to go with the microwave; a kettle offered with a selection of teas and coffees for the week at €20. I think it lowers the tone of a hotel which charges 5 star prices for accommodation.
The table provided for dining has an unhygienic slatted surface. It harbours food particles and unwelcome insects! Again, not 5 star.
The corridors to the bedrooms are long and can be draughty and even cool. This is caused by the constantly open doors leading to the pool areas, which in turn suck in the familiar breezes from the sea around Lanzarote. You don't expect to have to reach for the extra blanket after a sunny day.
These small items are worth considering in view of their affect on the status and feel of a 5 Star Hotel. But, in the light of the magnificence and physical position and appearance of The Princes Yaiza, they are small points indeed.

I thoroughly recommend this hotel to you. Check out its website.

Hi, i am currently planning our family holiday for May and hoping someone could assist me. We have never stayed at this hotel before and have normally stayed in Peurto Del Carmen for the past 6 yrs!! However our requirements have changed in that we would like a 2 bedroom suite so I was thinking of the family suite in the beautiful Princess Yaiza! Can anyone recommend what rooms to choose that would be close to pool facilities etc and as we are Irish is this a popular hotel for Irish families?
Thanks in advance!

Dear Lucemc,

Thank you for considering our resort for your next holidays.

We are sure that our Family Suites will meet your expectations as they have two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large living room and terrace. Like all rooms of the Princesa Yaiza Suite Hotel Resort, in the Family Suites we have a useful kitchenette with microwave, fridge, kettle and a sink.

Family Suites are located in an annex building connected by a beautiful tunnel where you can enjoy 6 large fish tanks. In this building you could find also a game room, the hotel gym, one buffet restaurant and one snack bar (open seasonally) and two swimming pools.

Of course guests staying in the building of the Family Suites can enjoy all the facilities and services located in the main building.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any doubts or need further information.

I look forward to welcome you personally in May.

Best regards,

I stayed here at the end of Feb 2013 with my wife, one year-old baby and two friends, after moving out of an appalling villa (Vista Lobos 06) that we had booked for this holiday. This hotel was a truly welcome haven of comfort, cleanliness and relaxation...

We stayed in a standard suite (fourth floor, with partial (but generous) sea views). A very good size room; beds (including the baby travel cot) were excellent; large fridge was very helpful for chilling baby formula.

Our room was a little noisy (noise from above due to tile flooring, so you can hear chairs being moved/foot-steps), so I'd recommend staying on the top floor if you can.

There were a large number of other young families with babies/young children here (many of whom we spoke with - the friendliness of the staff seems to permeate into the guests), and the hotel knows very well how to cater for its smallest guests: almost every member of staff fussed over our one-year old daugher, which she absolutely loved; the soft-play area was superb (divided between areas for 0-3 years and 4yrs+); heated outdoor pool for little 'uns; evening shows for children; fish tanks full of interesting, colourful fish; cinema etc etc.

Good selection of restaurants. The Tepankyaki restuarant was particularly good - all of the adults were mightily impressed by their meals and my daughter almost cleared my plate for me...

The gym (always a focus of any good hotel for me) is excellent: a great selection of free weights (including Olympic bars and Kettlebells); machines; cable pulleys; and cv equipment. Plus they retail Maximuscle products (a bonus for any gym rats).

As others have noted, the un-heated pools can be a bit chilly (the pool nearest the gym was almost constantly deserted for this reason) but nothing that a good northern lad can't handle.

My wife loved the spa, which is high praise indeed because she's been to many...

Good location: right on the beach, with an easy walk to Marina Rubicon (go to El Mirador restaurant for the views over the sea and great, somewhat high-end, food) and the main Playa Blanca strip of shops, bars and restaurants.

Overall, a very, very good hotel. I thought the room rate very good value for what it was (we paid under EUR 200 B&B) but drinks and food in the restaurants is more expensive than restaurants/bars nearby.

We would definitely stay here again if we visit Lanzarote again - although a four hour flight delay at Lanzarote airport back to the UK (due to low clouds, apparently, that prevented our planed from landing - really??) means I would be wary of returning to Lanzarote.

Room Tip: Top floor - to avoid noise from rooms above at night.

Top quality hotel in great location and, with the exception of the maitre d in the Islas de lobos restaurant, very helpful and pleasant staff. Close to beach and to marina. Our first visit to Lanzarote and compared very favourably to Tenerife...would certainly go back to Playa blanca. Only issue was that we were in family block and it was little noisy...but perhaps that's not surprising!

Room Tip: Family block a little noisy due to tiled floors.

Having just returned from my 5th visit to Princesa Yaiza with my mum I have to say this hotel is my favourite place in the world!

Our visit started off on a great note before we had even arrived. Having had to make changes to our travel plans the hotel could not have been easier to deal with in changing the dates of our stay and our room type. Professional and efficient.

Arrival had the wow factor as always. Our Bags were whisked away and the receptionist didn't even have to ask us our names as he remembered us from previous visits which was lovely! Gorgeous glass of cava was served to us as well. Check in was hassle free, efficient and friendly which set up the standard of the hotel perfectly.

Our room located on the 2nd floor of block C was beautiful. Amazing view out over the lower pool and the sea. The place was spotless as always. We had everything we needed in our room including toiletries, dressing gowns, an abundance of towels, well stocked and reasonably priced mini bar and extra blankets and pillows. Had we needed anything else it would have been no trouble at all. Housekeeping were brilliant as was the evening turn down service.

Breakfast was fantastic. Even though we were quite late down each morning, about 10.30am, the whole buffet was still fully stocked. Food was gorgeous and staff friendly and very efficient. We didn't eat in the hotel for dinner as we enjoyed a nice stroll down along Playa Blanca. However we did order some room service late one night and the food was delicious and delivered quickly. The piano bar was perfect for a pre or post dinner drink with great drinks menu and yummy cocktails! Was also very reasonably priced.

Pool area gorgeous and relaxing and no shortage of sun beds. Went for a swim daily in the top pool. Attempted to take a dip in the sea water pool which isn't heated but it was too cold but that was to be expected at this time of year!

We had lovely messages in the spa and which were heavenly. The therapists were brilliant and so professional. We had a second visit to the spa on Thursday the 28th of Feb and our ONLY criticism of the whole experience was the lady who appeared to be the spa manager (dressed in green) was quite rude and condescending towards us and who also barked very loudly down the phone ignoring us as we arrived. Which was really unfortunate. Everything else was 10/10.

Having booked back in to the hotel for another week in September we just cannot wait to be back for visit number 6! Makes leaving that little bit easier. Such a brilliant luxury hotel and anyone who has the opportunity to visit here should jump at the opportunity!

See you in September Princesa Yaiza! *****!
