We have just returned from our very relaxing holiday and enjoyed every minute. We last visited this hotel 4 years ago and it was lovely to see the changes they have made.

We were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who gave us lots of information about the hotel and services. We had a privilege all inclusive superior room with sea view . Lots of extras which made our holiday more enjoyable. Paper every day, coffee machine in the room, use of room with drinks etc., basket of fruit and bottle of wine and as many visits as you wanted to Kasbah restaurant for breakfast and evening meal, use of safe etc etc.

It was nice to be able to visit the a la carte restaurant or main buffet restaurant. Food in both was very varied and fresh.

The staff in all areas were very friendly and efficient. Other people staying were of mixed age groups.

Our room was excellent. Huge bed, plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. Our bathroom was immaculately clean. Lots of toiletries, towels and chocolates provided each day. Bit difficult to have a lie in as noise can be heard from people and furniture moving but that is understandable with the type of flooring.

We loved the pool area, pool bar and piano bar. All very relaxing.

The only slight problem we had was at the hairdressers in the hotel. Paid 15e for a trim and gave a too generous 5e tip to then be contacted and told you owed another 10e. Think giving a tip caused them some confusion. Won't be giving a tip next year.

We loved our holiday and enjoyed our walks to the main part of Playa Blanca and also the Rubicon Marina.

We will be back next year - can't wait.

Dear bluetwo47,

WAW, "Top Contributor"!!!. Thank you very much for your nice review and your rate of 5 point!!!.

Sorry if there was a confusion in the hairdressers. It doesn´t belongs to the hotel, but, of course, in case of incident, we will always help our guests, just let us know!.

Kind regards,

Yes, another brilliant holiday at The Timafayan Palace. Well done Jose for having such a committed team who go that extra bit more to make our stay so good.

It's well worth joining the H10 scheme as well.

Room Tip: All the rooms are of high standard, sea views are extra but worth it.

have just returned from a weeks half board holiday at this couples only impressive hotel. We stayed in a double room and I must say that it was beautiful, the furnishings were classic, the bed was huge and the pillows were clouds of fluffiness to rest your head, the air con worked, the balcony overlooked the pool and sea. The bathroom was a very good size and we had clean towels every day (white and fluffy). We had breakfast every morning and the selection was very good, we had lunch some days in the pool bar and we did sample the evening meals too. The staff were very friendly and helpful and there was entertainment in the evenings. Any downside to this hotel......not really....plenty to see and do.....

My wife and I, (both in our mid-sixties) stayed here, half board, during the UK half term week in May and this was our first time in Lanzarote, although we have stayed in other parts of the Canaries on many occasions and thoroghly enjoyed the experiences. We chose this hotel as it was listed as 'couples only', opting for the quieter holiday this time with less families around. We had never ever tried this 'no-children' approach before and thought it would give us a very peaceful week. In that respect it certainly did not disappoint insofar as there were no children present at all through the week. The first few days were unbelievably laid back and quiet but after a few days we personally began to miss the noise of little ones around us enjoying themselves (especially as we talked about it, it brought to mind our own young grandchildren and the fun we have with them.).
Still - it is what it is - 'couples' - with a definite more mature age profile of resident (not too old, mind just not younger fality type couples) and in fairness the whole atmosphere of the hotel was very laid back, sedate and generally very tranquil (although there was plenty of evening entertainment and daytime activities if you wished to join in) The place was immaculately clean and 'grand', perhaps however, looking a little bit 'tired' in some small parts
The hotel staff were all really excellent, very friendly indeed, accommodating, and very keen to please - lovely people right through from cleaning staff to hotel management.
The room we had was large, spacious, with a beautiful high-standard bathroon, all kept exceptionally clean, and was mostly well equipped (except the main room had almost no drawer storage space for some reason) but with the lovely balcony and beautiful sea-view we had requested. Tea making facilities are provided and replenished each day, but NOT ordinary milk for tea - only 'Coffee' style milk which is far more creamy. We were able to acquire some UHT from the kitchens for the week and this was easily obtained upon request at the restaurant. The 32" flat screen telly offered the usual limited range of English speaking TV but as we used it very little it was OK for BBC World News and Sky news to keep you up to date with back home.
A standard complimentary bottle of wine greeted us on first entry to the room, nice little touch, but surprisingly, as we had expereinced in other similar hotels, no drinking water. Please also beware - they do NOT automatically stock the mini-bar unless you specifically request it and will clearly then charge you (over the odds) for anything they provide to put in it, not what yu actually consume. We 'hired' just the mini-bar key to use it instead just as a fridge at a cost of €3 PER DAY - keep your receipt for this as you get €4 back as a deposit refund when you give the key back at the end of your stay. The 'fridge' however, just about keeps drinks cool and definitely not cold. The double bed was 'huge' and seemed even bigger than king-size, but oh- soooo hard !!!!! Like sleeping on the floor. Pillows are limited to 2 per person, so if you are like me, you have to ask for extras, no charge for these (I like a very high seeping position). You can also hire the obligatory large hotel beach towel but beware - this will set you back €20 (Yes -Twenty) per week PER TOWEL - but, again, keep your receipt and you will get all of this this back at the end of your stay when you hand your towels back and pay your bill. Towels are changeable at reception every day if you wish, at no extra cost.
Sunbeds are quite simply bountiful. It matttered little what time of day you wished to lounge by the pool, plenty of sunbeds were always available, no matter the weather, and although the usual warnings are posted about 'saving beds with towels' around the site, there is very little room for concern. Those who did bother to 'save' beds as the day progressed, were relatively few and there was no inconvenience caused as there were plenty of others. Unlike other major hotels we have used in the Canaries, nobody ever bothered to even get up early (with the lark) to 'save' beds, they slowly, casually, began to emerge by the pool from about 9am onwards, mostly after breakfast, and then only trickling through.
Pools are immaculately kept each day including the spa pool, open to all
Organised daytime agtivies were readily available (listed in reception)
Main Concert room for major entertainment, with a large bar and waiter service (standard of entertianment was not as high as we have experienced in other hotels on the Canaries, but still available if you like that sort of thing every night - typical mix of dance, singing, balancing acts but 1 night was exceptional with an ABBA tribute band. Place was packed that night and it was a fabulous evening.
The other main evening entertainment was in the Piano Bar - absolutely brilliant, with some excellent solo instrumentalists/vocalists each night including piano, sax, guitar etc. We enjoyed this so much we relaxed most nights here after dinner. Really laid back, very popular location, and very enjoyable.
Food - again - standard large hotel buffet style presentation, self-serve - very wide choice, some unusual dishes but with many standard foods available, Well presented, but try and get the 'hot' dinner plates for hot meals, rather than than the cold ones which are dotted around everywhere as some of the queues are long and food can be cold by the time you get back to table, The hot plates are only found on one counter out of the many.
Drinks prices are 'OK' - but are typically overpriced as in any large hotel.
There is only one shop on site - mainly clothing and high-end gifts, no food at all - but does sell newspapers during morning times only.
Hairdressers on site, again, OK - my wife used it and they were all extremely nice to her, did her hair well, but - 'it is never quite the same as back in the UK' - so you get a straightforward service from them. Prices were 'OK' according to her
Pool bar very well stocked and caters mainly for the 'all inclusive' crowd, but food and drinks could be purchased by other residents. This however is not made very obvious and I found I had to actually ask to determine this fact. Food/drinks are then able to be taken back to sunloungers if you wish (unlike in some hotels where you have to consume it in the bar area). There is no poolside waiting on service provided as in other hotels, where they regularly scout for custom amongst sunbathers around all the pools, in this case you go for everything yourself - no great hardship but just to note.
Playa Blanca - small - typical Spanish sea-side town with bars and (tacky) gift shops - a short bus (€1.20)/taxi ride (€5) away - sadly, disappointing and no great shakes for us personally, but this was compensated for by the quality of the hotel, where we spent most of time anyway. The bus stop is a good 1/4 hour walk from the hotel. Taxis are called from reception, and arrive very quickly but you must wait outside for them as drivers are not allowed into the hotel lobby.
Would we go again?
Probably but not a definite yes, some delightful parts, some just lacking 'something'.

Room Tip: Ask for a Sea View which are excellent, not a Garden View, unless you need to be on ground floor. Could end up looking out of back of hotel into 'ordinary' back garden. Tea making facilities are provided and repelenished, but NO milk, not even UHT. Kitchens will provide if you ask them direct. Rooms very good overall but ours, whilst big, lacked any real drawer space at all except for bedside cabs. All clothing was stored i wardrobes with not a lot of shelf space to repolace drawers facility. Go for Room numbers in the range 'X00' to 'X30', where 'X' is the floor number, as these are closest to the main complex for ease of access to the restaurants, other facilities etc. The higher the floor level (max 5th in main complex) the more fabulous the views, less noise and plenty of lifts available to get there.

Dear cathed01,

Thak you for your review... very completed... so I´ll just comment the only negative comment you write: "The double bed was 'huge' and seemed even bigger than king-size, but oh- soooo hard !!!!! ". Most people prefer hard beds, but for the rest, order please to us a topper for your bed. We have several for those who prefer a softer bed.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a week in June and were very impressed overall.

First impressions as you walk into the lobby are very impressive, and the staff at the reception were very efficient and helpful. A small queue did form for check-in, but extra staff appeared and we were soon attended to.

We and several other guests arrived past the closing time of the restaurant, but a tasty cold meal was thoughtfully laid on.

We had a standard room, just paying extra for the pool / sea view. The room was very nice, very large, with an enormous bed. The maid service kept the room spotless during the whole stay; we didn't see her once, but would like to compliment her.

One minor quibble (as reported before) is the noise from other rooms, especially footsteps (high heels I guess) from the room above and from the corridor. Carpets would have been quieter than the tiled floors, but I guess would be expensive to fit. However, the noise generally ceased around midnight and we didn't lose much sleep. Our room was quite a trek from the restaurants, bars, etc., but it helps walk off those calories.

The staff were all friendly, with a greeting every time you passed them in the corridor, etc.

We were half-board and ate in the main restaurant at breakfast and dinner. The quality and choice of food were very good, with a different theme every night. The cafeteria-style has been commented on before, and it seems rather chaotic at first, but it doesn't seem so bad when you get used to it.

In general, the restaurant staff were attentive, but, as has been said before, your empty plate does get whisked away from under your nose, even if your partner is still eating. A bit odd to our eyes. Are they short of crockery or cutlery? Or do they want to get washed-up asap so they can get away earlier? Anyway, it does make you feel a bit rushed with the meal.

Several reviewers have commented on the wifi before. Yes, it is a bit slow and does drop out completely from time to time and is only available in some of the public areas, but it is usually adequate to check e mails and the like. I understand that broadband will soon be coming to the hotel, but whether that will have wider coverage remains to be seen.

As other reviews have pointed out, the swimming pools look nice, but are cold. Only a few brave souls used them even in June. The whirlpool spa was pleasantly warm, though.

The nudist area, tucked away in the gardens, was very nice to have, and only about half a dozen regulars seemed to use it, so no problem getting a sun-bed here! It is quite well screened from prying eyes and also from the strong breeze which regularly sprang-up in the afternoons. Parasols are provided here, but are getting rather tatty and need re-furbishing. Although the area is grassed, it looked as if it hadn't been watered for a long time, and the ground is bare in places. Also, the sunbeds here were not very comfortable compared to the ones around the main pools, and again need replacing. Having said that, we spent many relaxing hours here.

In summary - we were very happy with the hotel and would be happy to return to see more of this interesting island.

Room Tip: Rooms with higher numbers on each floor can be a long way from main hotel area, best to check if this might be a problem. I guess the remoter rooms have the advantage of less noisy foot traffic going past them, though.

Dear Notts_Couple236,

Thank you for your review very nice in general.

About the carpet, I prefer not to have, because in these type of holiday hotels so open to the air, they´d be very often dirty. For hygiene, I prefer not to have them.

About the nudist area, please, take note that surely I´ll close it... or I´ll locate it in other place. My project for the indoor pool is to locate it in the tenis court, and to prepare a new nice solarium, and in the actual nudist area do a privilege solarium.

we normally don´t have people using this nudist area, so I´ll decide if we just close it or we locate it in other smaller place.

Kind regards,

José Angel Vázquez
