Just returned yesterday from Paradise Island not knowing what to expect after reading customer reviews we almost cancelled, thank goodness we decided to take the chance. Could find little fault with the hotel, rooms were very clean and certainly no lazy maid's encountered by us. The pool area was kept immaculate even after the aftermath of New Year Celebrations where the hotel laid on an evening banquet/champagne and fireworks. Great value for money water park kept our 11 year old entertained with no complaints about the pool temperatures, I suppose he is at an advantage living in Scotland.Food was certainly plentiful as my waistline can vouch for and again we had no complaints nor did we hear of anyone else having to starve due to the poor quality prison food implied by previous critics.
As for the cat's all in all I think we saw 5 during our 7 night stay and there was certainly no indication of fouling anywhere throughout the grounds and we were located beside the feeding station. All in all we had a nice stay at this hotel and would not hesitate in recommending it to other traveller's my advise is go for it after all you cant please everyone.

Room Tip: We stayed beside the water park which appeared to be quieter in the evening as it closes at 5pm.

We stayed here the end of october 2012 for 2 weeks. The weather was fantastic .
The entertainment team were great ,my two children age 8 and 6 loved it the appts where nice and spacious and cleaned nearly everyday the beds where hard though. The water park was great as was the poolside entertainment. The only downside for us was the food, after a week we had,had enough even though none of us are fussy eaters we struggled with the food.Overall a good holiday .

Room Tip: we stayed in room 109 not to far from the bar,but was nice and quiet.

Me, my wife and our 2 friends have just come back from here after a superb week in the sun bringing in the new year. We arrived on the 30th to very friendly and sufficient staff, check in was quick and we was at the pool bar in no time. The Thomas Cook reps in Cat, Darren, Ryder and Grant we're superb for our whole stay, by far the best entertainment team we have seen. From kids entertainment to adults it was bang on. We all said we would stay here again no problem ( as long as Cat and the team are there). Oh and the on site water park is superb and passes a few hours.

This hotel has many good points and only a few bad ones. When we arrived it was after all of the meals had finished but they put on a small spread for us and one other group which was well needed. The staff on the whole are excellent especially Loes and Carmen (kids club and entertainment), Alberto in the Lobby bar, Roberto in the dinner hall and Ililoul (sorry i Know it is spelled wrong) in the disco bar. Everyone worked tirelessly and always seemed to be working day or night. The rooms were kept clean with towels and bedding changed 4 or 5 times a week. We needed extra bedding and pillows and it arrived at our door within 15 mins. Kids entertainment was great with the kids being taken off for games etc twice a day for a couple of hours at a time and then evening entertainment for them. We did not use the daytime clubs much but it was good to know it was there and you could have the occasional relax without the kids. The only problems with entertainment is that for the age it was aimed at it started a little late and the adult entertainment was a little poor but they did try very hard. The food had good days and not so good days but there was plenty of variety in the main hall. The Chinese buffet could do with a little work and the sausage and bacon could do with a lot less grease but all in all it was pretty good. The xmas meal was not quite as you would expect but the staff done an extremely good job especially as it was there first time.
Beware though, if you give over a deposit for the remote control, towels etc make sure you keep the receipt because their record keeping needs sorting out. I ended up having to argue for my deposit back on the last day when I handed the remote back, I know it was only 10 euros but it was the principal. The only other real negative was the outside chairs at the lobby bar leave you scratching from the fibreglass splinters - could do with replacing.
The dino park water park was excellent my kids (6 & 9) absolutely loved it. There are normally 3 or 4 lifeguards on duty, they are quite strict about rules which even though can occasionally be annoying it is good because you know your kids are safe.
The free bus to the beach was very useful to especially as both the market and the main town are only a few minutes from the beech.
Our room was excellently located, it backed onto the pool but had a tree directly out side which was good for privacy. The front opened up to sea view. Room 220

Room Tip: Rooms in the 100s and 200s are well located. There is a strong smell of drains around rooms 317 to 3...

I was very worried about staying due to reviews but was very happy with our two week stay. We had a few problems but nothing that the hotel staff were more than happy to help. Our son was ill and the staff couldn't do enough she even gave me the names of Medication to get and sorted us out with taxi etc. she even went out of her way to check how he was the next day. Thomas cook entertainment team was FANTASTIC Ryder, Grant, Darren and Kat were the best entertainment team we have ever had. They got everybody up. (Even during bingo) New Years was so special (team vodka). Keep the entertainment team together and we will return in 2013 is our suggestion. I will never forget the song pump it up. Met some fantastic people in our two week stay. Hotel water was a funny colour and beds not most comfortable but that's my only real negative if I had to give any. It was worth the money and we had a great time.
Thanks everyone at paradise island

Staff at this hotel are fabulous, special thanks to Loes and Carmen (hotels own kids club staff) they are absolutely brilliant with the kids, our son just loved them. Entertainment was faultless, there was games and fun all day and mini disco at night, well done to Thomas Cook Staff. Food was excellent and great choice every night, was there 11 nights and there was something different every single night. Rooms clean and tidy. We were there at the same time as the water problem (water went off for a few hours), back up and running in the morning and our water was clean. There are a lot of cats but we were surprised that we did not see any poo anywhere round the hotel grounds for the whole stay of the holiday. Only fault I could find with the hotel is the pools and waterpark, water freezing, we had taken wetsuits for the wee one and he was still frozen, used the waterpark for 10 mins first day, 5 next and not again, preferred the paddling pool beside the big pools which is really quiet and relaxing. Please don't be put off by bad reviews its a brilliant stay if you have kids. Playa Blanca also a nice resort, good beach, lovely walk along the prom, restaurants good. Would go back.

We went as a family of 6 and had 2 apartments side by side. The rooms were typical whitewashed affairs and well maintained. Each has its own patio area.
The food was excellent; before travelling we were a little bit unsure due to some of the negative reviews we'd read but there is plenty of variety.
The nightlife is typical package holiday. Bingo, singers etc.
Children are well looked after by the hotel team and they really work hard and do a fantastic job from breakfast till last orders.
The swimming pools are freezing, be prepared! I found the best method was to start in the smallest pool as it was slightly warmer and then, after losing all feeling, move onto the bigger pools! The sea is warmer; jump on the free bus and go there!
We also tried Papagayo beach as it was recommended. If you have small children, as we did, I'd give it a miss. It's a fair trek and the sea is quite wild there.
It was our first taste of all inclusive and we enjoyed it.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Some rooms at he far end do get a sewage smell. We didn't but I spoke to one family who encounte...
