“Holiday in October 2013”
Reviewed October 18, 2013

We stayed in the Lazarote Princess for 2 weeks all inclusive and returned to England yesterday October 17th. We enjoyed the holiday and found the staff friendly, helpful and efficient but very rushed and it seemed as if the hotel was short staffed. The room we stayed in was of a good standard and cleaned daily to an excellent standard. The food was varied with plenty of choice and of a good standard. However, there were small things that let the hotel down a little. These include gloomy corridors with grubby carpets, tiling on the poolside and snack bar restaurant needing attention, the hand dryers and the electronic taps on basins in some of the toilets did not work. We also found having to give your room number for everything you consumed, even water, extremely frustrating for an all inclusive guest. Queuing for the evening meal was very annoying as people were there 15 minutes early and when the doors were opened it was like the "stampede of the wilderbeast"! We did find the Thomas Cook representative, Kate, extremely helpful and knowledgeable in all areas. She was always available and responsive to our needs. Our main highlight was the evenings in the Piano Bar. The jazz duo were fantastic musicians who played a very wide variety of music.

Absolutely love this hotel, This was our 3rd visit and we were not dissapointed. We chose All Inclusive this time which we found to be great. The new bakery and the coffee shop are a lovely touch, we ate in the Sakura Resteraunt and enjoyed that also. This hotel ticks all the boxes for us and cannot wait to return again next year. I do agree that the birds are an issue around the snack bar.

Room Tip: Were were in Room 1054 which faced the pool and was lovely.

We stayed for a week at the beginning of October and chose this hotel because of it's excellent location, but were a little apprehensive having read some of the reviews. As an H10 member I too e-mailed ahead and asked for a high floor pool view room and that is exactly what we were given, with a beautiful view over the trees to the sea and Fuerteventura. We had a double size balcony and it was a great place to sit at the beginning and end of the day with a cup of coffee. The beds were comfortable with mattress toppers and apparently linen is changed every 3 days. The rooms are quiet and peaceful at night and we were very pleased with the air conditioning (not centrally controlled, wonderful!).

The pool area is large and attractive and we saw it being cleaned daily - no yellow scum apparent during our stay. We only used it once, preferring to go to the beach, but it was warmer than the sea and did not damage our swimwear as per previous reviewers.

We were half board and found both breakfasts and evening meals to be plentiful with a good choice of dishes and we felt all the catering and waiting staff were efficient and polite and worked extremely hard. The dining room is large and noisy due to the size of hotel, but we were luck enough to get a table in the outside dining area for most of our meals, which we much preferred.

With the exception of one man on reception (who we had the misfortune to encounter twice) we found all the staff to be friendly and helpful, even when very busy.

The piano bar was disappointing - the music is not the quiet smokey soulful type that you can relax to and talk over, but loud and intrusive, middle of the road jazzy jangly type stuff. It had the feeling of a noisy old peoples home and we are not ready for that yet! The hotel lacks a good, quiet bar or lounge - all public areas are blasted with music from the piano bar every evening. We even bought drinks at the bar and took them out to sit on a lounger by the pool one night so that we could sit and look at the stars and have a conversation without shouting. Mikes coffee shop looked good, but there are not many tables outside, so you have to be lucky to get one. There are lots of bars in Playa Blanca, but sometimes after a busy day it is preferable not to have to go out again.

I do agree with the comments about the corridors - not four star at all, but they are probably the least important part of the hotel experience! We found the rest of the hotel to be clean and for the most part well decorated.

We loved Playa Blanca with its pretty beaches, lovely long prom and good choice of bars and restaurants and had a really happy, relaxing holiday. We will certainly go back to the resort and would not hesitate to stay at the Princess again. I would like to say "thank you" to all the staff who work so hard to try to make peoples holidays enjoyable.

Good points about the hotel
Staff lovely. Rooms spacious and cleaned daily.
Entertainment day and night caters for more mature guests
Especially the evening entertainment programme is very poor and boring
Food is awful . If you do find something to eat it is Luke warm .
This hotel needs a complete re-think of entertainment and especially the choice and quality of food served.
Sorry princess but I would not return .

Having been to this hotel twice before, the last visit four years ago, I knew what to expect but was a little apprehensive after reading the latest reviews, especially the chance of picking up a virus! I contacted the hotel by e mail as a H10 member requesting a pool view room and was not disappointed a lovely revamped double room sun on facing the childrens pool. The corridor and landing carpets are a disgrace and I cannot understand whey they have not been replaced along with the extensive refurbishments. Also building work is going on, the site being on the Side looking down to Playa Blanca town and a number of guests I spoke to had asked to be moved due to the noise. Work according to the sign on site should have been completed last March.
We did not go all inclusive as there are many bars and restaurants within a short distance from the hotel and one night listening to the monotonous repetative live music in the piano bar was enough, same thing night after night abviously aimed at one section of the clientele so beware! Did not bother with the other "entertainment".
The restaurant was the usual fare in a large hotel a bit of a scrum but plenty of choice and most residents seemed to think it was ok. We arrived on the Thursday and the on Sunday long queue to get in went to the bar to let it thin out with many other guests couldnt get served! went back down to the restaurant queued again, got in and we were taken to the far end. The table was half made up and all the tables I would say a third of the total tables in the restaurant were uncleared, like a bomb site and as on previous days food scraps left on the floor. A very grumpy waiter laid out the table banging down the cutlery pointing out hotel review forms and a pen on each table? On leaving the restaurant a manager approached me laughing, I stopped him and said he had nothing to laugh about the dining room was a disgrace he was still laughing as I pointed out the state of the tables and the attitude of the staff. He said everyone had turned up at once which taking account the previous three days was a nonsense. I since found out that this hotel operates a zero hours three month contract and the summer staff finished on the Saturday hence the chaos. Things improved on the following days.
I must add that apart from this incident the staff were fine and the waitresses, who are primarily Dutch were excellent.
I only stayed round the pool once and as long as you got there before 9 you could get a good sunbed spot. One of the previous comments mentioned the pool not being cleaned, my room was direcly above it and i did not find that the case.
Overall the hotel is just four star but the all inclusive has taken the edge off the hotel better one or the other than both as you now have the restaurant opening lunch and dinner half boarders having a choice of lunch or dinner. This must have put pressure on an already depleted staff. The hotel is central with the beach just accross the road and barring the incident related earlier service and cleanliness would have got a slightly higher ratings.
Would i stay again? possibly!

Room Tip: I had a room on the second floor overlooking the pool, go for a higher floor.

Nervously arrived at the hotel after reading some awful reviews, we were very pleasantly surprised by a warm welcome with champagne at reception and attractive surroundings and a lovely family room facing the pool which was large, very clean and comfortable. Kids loved Disney channels too but no BBC or ITV. The rest of the hotel did not disappoint with a fabulous pool area, well designed so kids don;t have to disturb adults and we enjoyed several lazy days while kids played and made friends in the pool. We also enjoyed the gym and other games features incl as chess, pool, air hockey and xbox. But don;t be put off if you're travelling without kids and the sound of this fills you with horror as everything is done discretely so bar areas etc enjoy a different feel away from kids areas. All staff friendly and helpful, with my husband receiving a special treat of champagne form the hotel to celebrate his 50th. We did half board and may consider b&b next time (oh yes, kids desperate to go back and we loved the hotel and resort too) as evening meals a little less popular with us but we understand the hotel caters for lots of nationalities (not all Brits abroad which we liked). Beach, town and promenade also fab. Missing it already.

Room Tip: We were in room 71 a family room facing the pool. Something like rooms 69-93 were pool facing which...

Returned yesterday (14th October 2013) after a week’s stay and can honestly say that our stay at the Lanzarote Princess H10 was brilliant, we loved it.
I made the mistake of reading the reviews on this hotel in my last hour at work on the Friday before heading off for my holiday and I can honestly say I was starting to fill with dread and worry as this was the 1st holiday abroad for my two children aged 6 and 9. I couldn't sleep as I wanted everything to be perfect for them. My boyfriend said we have to forget about the reviews and if it's really as bad as they say then I'll move us to another hotel. Well all I can say is it was perfect for us, our room (2111) was new, lovely and clean and had a sea view. We found the staff very friendly. The location of the hotel was excellent. We went on a bed & breakfast basis and wouldn't of changed to all inclusive as the choice of restaurants along the front was excellent and not too expensive. Teguise Market on a Wednesday and Saturday 9-1 is a must, it's located at the beautiful marina (looking at the sea you need to walk left to get to the marina) which is a 15 minute walk along the beach front.
Please do not be put off by the reviews, some areas do need some TLC like the crazy golf and some paint flaking off the pool next to the children’s pool but these things are not things that are going to ruin your holiday. We all loved it and cannot wait to go back again next year.
