“Good hotel, great balcony space”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2012

This was my third time in Lanzarote, and our first at the H10 Princess. We went DIY, booking flights via easyJet, the hotel via the website, and car hire via Avios points. We we there for one week from the 23rd Feb 2012.

When we booked online we chose a Princess Suite. The Hotel is in a U shape, and our suite was at the end of the hotel, overlooking the pool area and the sea. The suite was re-furbed around 3 years ago, so it is okay, but not as swanky as the more recently refurbed rooms. The big bonus was the huge balcony outside, which was effectively triple aspect, meaning we could could have a morning cup of tea (in our courstesy bathrobes) at around 08:00am, and kept the sun until late in the afternoon. We were on the 2nd (Top) floor with no trees blocking the sun. The strange thing was that the hotel website didn't mention this great feature.

We were B&B - breakfast was good with a huge choice of food, along with daily smoothies and sparkling wine. Location is great - walking distance to loads of cafes and restaurants. The external facilities were all good - we tried table tennis, crazy golf and I even ventured into the pool.

Inside the hotel is a bit strange - some areas have been updated, others haven't, and there is a big difference in room quality between the two, so be sure to ask for a newer room. Car parking was easy, with space always available near reception. Our room was cleaned every day and we had good hot water supply and reliable shower.

There is a night club over the road which operates a couple of nights a week, which you may hear if you have a room near the sea.

If you want some personal sunbathing / lounging space take a look at the Princess Suites. Try and get room higher up if possible - we were in Room 2038.

All in all a very enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room. Consider the Princess Suite if you want lots of private sunbathing space...

Stayed with our 4 year old son last week and had a lovely stay. 24-25 degrees and sunny daily. I agree with previous comments that overall the hotel could use a freshening up (lick of paint and such) but our room was newly renovated and the whole hotel is clean and tidy and the staff are very friendly. We booked directly through H10 hotel website (cheapest way we found) and booked half board as was barely more expensive than B&B (£10 more for the whole stay). Food was what you would expect from buffet style dining but there was plenty of choice for dinner and breakfast and the freshly cooked things were good, also lots of fresh salads/breads etc... So not haute cuisine but very do-able. Lovely sandy beach is 5 minute walk away with plenty of restaurants within 5-10 minutes walk away all at reasonable prices. (we had main meal out at lunch and ate salady dinner at night ). Adult pool very pretty but bit chilly. Kid's pool was heated and good fun for little ones complete with a pirate ship slide. The mini kids club was very empty as not a lot of kids there but the girls who ran it were really great with our child and he loved going there. The mini disco for kids was also much appreciated but be prepared to join in...! All in all would recommend resort and hotel.

This hotel had what I look for most in a holiday - a lovely pool area, relaxed atmosphere, comfortable rooms and a great location.

The pool area is really spacious and very attractive with mature trees and shrubs. The children's pool was a real hit for us as our 2-year-old loved it. We noticed children of all ages enjoying the slides and pirate ship. Although the hotel was full, it never felt crowded around the pool. The mini disco, mini golf and the playground, which was very well equipped, were great too.

We had a Junior Suite which meant there was a separate living area with a TV, large bathroom and separate bedroom. We also had a large wrap around terrace with views and the pool on one side and the sea on the other. Although the sofa could do with updating the suite was really comfortable and the extra space inside and outside was worth the extra cost (I don't think all the Junior Suites have such big terraces).

My parents stayed in a Privilege Room which they really enjoyed. It was well appointed and having a special lounge to get coffees, snacks and premium brand drinks and free internet access downstairs was great.

The communal areas of the hotel are pretty 1980s and my husband kept saying it all needed updating but I quite like the whole retro/Bond thing but if you like really modern hotels this might not be the one for you!

The breakfast was very good with lots of choice, freshly made smoothies, omlettes and freshly baked items (including the most delicious donuts!) Lunch was fine but nothing too exciting. There's plenty of choice at dinner also.

The hotel is well located for the beach and only a few minutes walk from restaurants overlooking the sea and plenty of shops etc. The marina is a little further and there are more restaurants, shops and bars there too.

A great place for some winter sun and relaxation!

Room Tip: The junior suite we were in was number 2109 and I would recommend it!

We have stayed at The Princess several times and have always had a nice holiday. We found all the staff friendly, hard working and effecient, but particular praise must go to Erik (reception) who, for us, was a star! We e mailed him before going to request a room in a particular area of the hotel which, from previous visits, we knew we preferred. He placed us exactly where we requested and as a bonus a box of chocs, bottle of wine, robes and slippers were waiting for us in our refurbished room! Loyalty rewarded! The food was good and varied and although, at peak times, the restaurant does get busy the waiting staff work very hard whisking empty plates away and keeping the buffet fully stocked. In our opinion Playa Blanca is the best resort in Lanzarote and the Princess is in the best location there. If you enjoy wine with dinner, buy a bottle at happy hour and recieve two. The restaurant will happily store your wine in a fridge, thus halving your wine bill at a stroke! The pool area is large and we never failed to get a lounger.

Having read some rather awful reviews from some very unkind people i was dubious about having booked his hotel. i thought it would be awful. let me tell you that the hotel is clean, has a lovely pool area. we was given a family room which was clean and spacious. The resturant has a good choice of food and the staff were friendly. there is good entertainment daily. I think alot of bad reviews of this hotel come from the fact that the price to stay here is quite high and given that you expect much more than you get. the hotel is alot older than those in the surrounding areas, it does not have the chic decor of the nearby yaiza for example... but for a nice family holiday with good kids entertainment, quite ok, nice food and a good seclection of all inclusives drinks and a clean room i would reccommend staying here.....but as i said the only thing about this hotel is that it is pricey and when paying that you expect the wow factor and that little extra which sadly the hotel lacks........i would say this hotel is a good 3 star hotel if i compare to other 3 star hotels i have stayed at around the world......the hotel pics are a little over exagerted but i would still go back and recommend to families i know.

stayed here last week in feb,and basically agree with most of previous reviews, the evening meal s not a relaxing experience,
we had a ground floor family room which was very good,we had requested upper floor room as we were a couple, but well pleased with our room.
as for picking which part of hotel you wish to stay is impossible as the hotel was full when we were there and this was luck where you got..
there was a dutch girl on reception who was very helpull,on our day of checkout the coach did not arrive, and her and male colleague rung coach operators for us and told as what to do ,very good.
the staff in the restaraunt could be a bit dull to say the least,a smile does not take a lot of effort.
the weather was 20-24c in daytime.but could be windy, you needed a pullover or jacket to venture out at night,
yea we thoroughly enjoyed our stay,we,ve stayed in a lot worse.the great thing about this hotel is the location.5minsbeach 5mins towncentre,
our top tip take a walk to rubicon marina and have an early evening drink watching sunset.peaceful and fabulous.

Room Tip: pot luck, pool facing if possible

The Lanzarote Princess is quite an old hotel - in need of some updating but having said that the pool area was vast with plenty of sunbeds to go round. Weather at the time we went (1st week in Feb) could have been warmer but the sun did manage to shine on most days, but at this time of year you do take a chance - it was much warmer than home though!

We emailed the hotel before we went requesting an updated room on a high floor with a sunny balcony. On arrival mentioned this but was told that they can't always oblige a request. Our room was a newish one with a sunny terrace but on the ground floor. Despite not quite getting what we wanted - it was a godsend as it turned out to be a suntrap on windy afternoons.

The hotel was very full at the time and we noticed on reception a notice asking if anyone wanted to change hotels to the H10 Rubicon Palace which is a lot more upmarket but we couldn't be bothered moving all our stuff mid way through a week's stay.

The dining room was a bit busy but there was a huge choice of food and you could always find something to eat. Entertainment was simple but okay and as it was cold most nights we just watched that seated at the bar - the bar staff were really friendly and helpful.

Our room was one of the biggest we have been in - with loads of drawer and wardrobe space but the beds were a little hard. I mentioned it to reception and almost immediately someone came to put a thick blanket on the mattress which made a big difference.

Overall, we thought the Lanzarote Princess was a good hotel in a very good position and we enjoyed our stay. I am sure it will be great when they do manage to do a full refurbishment in the next few years.

Room Tip: ask for a room that is sunny in the afternoon and beware of a pool view as some rooms have huge tree...
