Pre-trip worries about not paying the premier elite supplement melted away when we saw our room, with fabulous sea views across to Fuertaventura. All in all we had a great time, though a week was plenty, especially for the teenagers. Our rooms were fab (block b) so well done to the travel agent who emailed a request for good ones. Very big bed, good bathroom and excellent balcony, all kept spotless by daily maid service. (We had some rust marks in the bath but it was clearly clean.) Public areas are excellent and kept very clean too. Pools were lovely and we had the biggest nearly to ourselves as it wasn't heated (come on people, it was hot enough to enjoy the cool down). Food was very good in main restaurant and like other reviewers we tended to sit in the Italian part as it was less busy. There was excellent variety - I lost count of the types of fish served and mour fussy eater teenager always found loads to eat. We thought the quality was good though missed being served food somewhat. Enjoyed the mexican alternative buffet. Book the other restaurants early in your stay as we waited and couldn't get into the chinese. Best bits were sneaky visits to the snack bar and slushy pina coladas from the pool bar. Local drinks perfectly acceptable and coffee/hot chocolate machines drinkable too. Gorgeous papagayo beach a short stroll from the hotel but it's true that decent shoes are needed for the terrain. Walked as far as the marina where there's a twice weekly market and nice cafes etc. Played tennis, table tennis and pool and found decent wifi spots. Staff were excellent and worked really hard, especially in the restaurant clearing plates and tables. They also appreciated our few words of Spanish (and the daughter's really quite good Spanish). It bugged me to hear the (mainly) English holiday makers make no effort whatsoever in their various regional accents, and even more so to read on trip their complaints about (low paid) staff not speaking good english! Gracias isn't hard to learn, folks. But rant over. We'd recommended this hotel for a very good value and quality all inclusive, but only if you get a room like ours. We were lent room 1001 in block h as a courtesy shower room on the day we left and the view was prison-like - would have hated staying there. Go and enjoy.

Room Tip: Get blocks a or b if you can. Don't worry about the room being far away or hard to find - you ge...

Sandos Papagayo beach resort is a very well run and efficient hotel with stunning views from most of the rooms. Bed was massive with plenty of space for 3 or 4 people in a room. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is top drawer with so many dishes to choose from, I would recommend the royal elite if you can afford it, you will not be disappointed. The hotel is a little hard to find at first as it is away from the main area of Playa Blanca .It is a very clean hotel with staff always on the go day and night and always ready to help with any request. Hotel is about a 35 minute drive from the airport and about 2 miles to Playa Blanca main street. Freshly squeezed orange juice was so nice every morning as well as the pancakes and omelettes made there as you waited. There are 2 main pools as well as a kiddies pool, crazy golf, basket ball, tennis, soccer and archery. The beach was a little disappointing as it is very rocky and lots of stones but we hired a car so went to beaches further up the coast. Pool could do with a makeover as some of the tiles were missing on the bottom. But apart from that we had a very pleasant stay and would definitely go there again.

Just returned from a fantastic holiday at the sandos. We were in block e and the views were outstanding, beds were huge! The shower was more powerful than mine at home. The food is great being a veggie I loved the salad, pizza, and freash pasta was lush! breads, chips, new potatoes, always crackers and cheese selections, fruit, ice cream, cakes etc. I had a rice and bean dish at the mexican and nice stir fry and noodles at the oriental. Cocktails were good. Entertainment - mowtown group were really good and some good chill out music in the other bars. The only down side is the kids do run wild but its a family hotel so you have to expect this. I emailed the hotel before hand and I got everything I asked for thank you sandos for a fab holiday.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Sandos papagayo Hotel.
We are married couple aged 25&26.
I booked the hotel because of the good value for a quick get away and the good reviews on Trip Advisor.

We stayed in room G931,
Rooms:
The rooms a clean, bright, spacious and comfortable. You have to pay for the safety deposit box but you do in most hotels so this didnt bother us.

Restaurants :
the International Restaurant is the main buffet style restaurant , the food was always lovely and hot, plenty of choice ( it is a bit repetitive but if you don't pile your plate up with everything you can have a different meal every night) there is also a bit of a Italian buffet in this room and you its nice to sit in there if you want it to be a bit quieter .
The Chinese and Mexican restaurants was a pleasant surprise , you need to book these as soon as you arrive as they are only small and they get booked up quite quickly! they are again buffet style but they cook it fresh in front of you and everything we had was fab!

there are also plenty of bars to have a drink in depending on your age/style
the Green bar is what we called the biddy bar but it was a nice bar to sit in and they had live musicians everynight.
The Canarian bar has a TV in which has sports on in it which my Hubby loved! and there was sometimes a musician on in there too.
The outside bar was where the night time entertainment was on, the entertainment was interesting lol.... to be honest if you have had couple of drinks we found it hilarious! the Motown group was excellent though!.

There is loads of sunbeds and the pools are lovely and clean, quite cold but once you get in its lovely!

All in all we had a wonderful holiday, plenty to do for all ages.

Tip from us - go out the front of the hotel and turn immediately right out of the gates and walk on the cliff top to the secluded beach its about a 15 min walk but soo worth it the beach is amazing! take a drink and food as there is nothing around.

The only thing for us with the hotel was wifi was rubbish , we dont live on our phones but would of been nice to face time the family and the pool towels could maybe do with updating.

thank you for a lovely stay.

Danielle & Jason Dexter

Room Tip: book the restaurants early and a visit to the hidden beach is a must!!

Just spent a sunny week at this resort - upgraded to Royal Elite and felt they could have done better with what was offered with upgrade - the rest of the package is good value - but see comments

Food - Breakfast in reserved elite restaurant is very very good and friendly service, and certainly matches 4 star service in UK

International Buffet - Food quality a bit variable but generally of a high standard and a good choice which changes from night to night but the actually restaurant is more like a works canteen, very large and can be very noisy (wine and beer on tap but not premium drinks for royal elite), other hotels offer reserved areas for Upgraded guests

Asian Restaurant - Reservations needed nice atmosphere and food of a good standard generally the fish soup is excellent however you need to compare this with a Good standard all you can eat to get the best impression. Much quieter and more comfortable than works canteen above.

Mexican Restaurant - A good attempt and some dishes very good but don't expect anything too spicy and yet again upgraded guests get same limited drink source as standard - quieter than canteen and friendly atmosphere

French Restaurant - pity this is only twice a week and as the standard is very good the supplement charge for this restaurant is worth it. But again was surprised to find the drinks were chargeable as well.

Royal Elite Lounge - very comfortable and friendly service here but the only place you can get a premium drink included - WIFi pretty good here even fast enough for streaming at times

Poolside area and bar - lots of pools, sun loungers and shades - very clean - pool snack bar does very good lunch and drinks and ice cream available all day (included)

Royal Elite bedroom - lovely sea view and large room and bed - large LCD TV but NO WiFi anywhere near this area a great shame as this would be standard in much cheaper rooms in UK

Would consider staying again but think in high season it would be too full / noisy for us oldies

Just back from a lovely surprise 5 days to celebrate our wedding anniversary!!! The hotel is in a picturesque position overlooking the sea. The rooms were a good size, with a really big king size plus bed. They were cleaned daily with fresh towels and bathroom accessories restocked. The food & drink were of a high standard, and available 24 hours. The hotel complex is very big, and kept immaculate!!!! The entertainment was very good, with different things going on to please all taste. We will defiantly return to this hotel for some winter sun. The entertainment staff work really hard, and a big thank you to Ricky who turned a game of bingo into a very entertaining afternoon!!!! (Eh Rickywappo)!!!!
