Just returned from a week-long stay at this hotel, which I visited with my husband and father-in-law. The best thing about the hotel is probably it's position, right on Las Coloradas beach. Our room (440) was large and spacious with a massive bed and a wonderful sea view, which I was very impressed with as we hadn't paid any extra for a sea view, so it was much appreciated. The whole hotel is very clean and tidy and the staff, especially the reception staff, are extremely friendly and helpful. I agree with Mike C, I don't understand how anybody can moan about the staff here. There are six or seven swimming pools on the complex, which we didn't use as we prefer swimming in the sea, but they looked clean and there were more sun beds than I have ever seen before at any hotel. I can't imagine anybody having a problem finding a sun bed here, even at the busiest times. The food in the restaurant was well cooked and well presented, although I personally felt that there could have been a bit more choice at breakfast time. My only (tiny) gripe is that the restaurant would benefit from more staff, they are a bit slow at clearing tables sometimes (not because they are lazy but because there aren't enough of them). This means that when you go into the restaurant you might have to stand about waiting for a table to be laid, so that you can sit down. Also, every morning there were long queues at the tea and coffee machines - I think the hotel should follow the example of other 4-star hotels and have the waiters bring tea and coffee to the table, but I suppose that this is down to the lack of staff again. All in all, though, a very good hotel and I would certainly go back.

Room Tip: I think that a high room in Block D gets the best sea views.

Well--after reading all the reviews on this hotel we went expecting alot---and thats exactly what we got---a great hotel with great facilities in a great location. It is a large complex but only takes a short time tp get your bearings!
I emailed the hotel a few weeks prior to request a certain block and on checking in was delighted that had been granted--Requested C block for the sea view-found this very quiet and easy access to main building through adjoining tunnel. The rooms were large ,great size bathroom and comfy beds with memory foam mattress.and a large balcony overlooking the sea with views over to feurteventura and los lobos. There is a fridge in the room which came in handy for water etc! I found the supplied hair dryer adequate for my needs.
The 5 pool areas were kept clean and tidy although the pools were quite chilly--prob due to the time of yr! Ample sun beds so no shortage of them!
The food was exceptional-vast variety and i think you would be very fussy if you couldnt find something different each day-We tried all the restaurants including the A La carte French--discounted prices for hotel residents--3 course meal and drink for 48Euros--including champagne cocktail and aperitiffs on arrival--a real tranquil place after the hussle of the main restaurants and food was superb!
The chinese and Italian both great too with the live cooking in both the food was guaranteed fresh and hot! The main international restuarant does get busy as previous reviews state--we took our food through to the adjoining italian where it was calmer!
Our favourite bar was the Canary bar with the large comfy seats outside overlooking the pool and sea--perfect sun trap and cool in the evening with a cocktail or 2!
Location wise--fine--lovely level walk along the headland to Rubicon marina--about 10mins- and well worth the trip--plenty of cafes and bars here to refresh before continuing along another 5-10min to Playa Dorada beach-- then 10 mins furthur to Playa Blanca.
Taxis and buses are cheap to use-2 euros to Rubicon -4 to playa blanca--we got the local bus to peurto del carmen for 5 Euro return
The walk along to the papogayo beaches wasnt an easy walk if you have prams or mobility problems but lovely beaches .
The all inclusive drinks were fine and the staff very accomadating!
All in all we had a fantastic holiday here and i would recommend it to anybody!

Our favourite bar was the canary bar with the large comfy chairs in the outside area- a perfect sun trap during the day and cool at night---perfect for that cocktail !
The professional entertainment was great--the acrobatics amazing and the chinese one fascinatinating -
The location is fine--a lovely walk along the sceninc headland to Rubicon Marina(a must visit) takes about 10mins--a variety of bars and cafes there--carry on for a furthur 15mins to reach playa dorada beach and then onwards to playa blanca. With plenty places to stop off at a perfect level walk.
The local taxis are cheap enough-2 Euros into Rubicon-4 Euro to playa blanca. and buses nearby of you want to venture furthur afield--we got the bus from playa blanca to peurto del carmen for 5 euro return trip--
over all we had a fantastic holiday here and would recommend to anybody.

Room Tip: Blocks A B C D have only sea views Blocks E F G have pool and sea views---whichever you choose as...

We had a family holiday for 10 days at this Hotel for Easter 2012. I myself have multiple sclerosis and travelled with my own electric wheelchair. Everyone was so helpful, our room was big and was always kept spotlessly clean The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had a hand rail on the wall and a pull down rail. There was plenty of room for me to move around. The disabled rooms face the mountains, it would have been nice to face the sea/pools The food was very good, lots to choose from, hot or cold. The head waiter always found a place for us, whether it was for just the 2 of us, or the whole family (11) My 3 grandaughters aged 6, 7 and 9 had a marvellous time. The hotel was very well ramped and it was a lovely walk/ride along the prom to the marina. The hotel was very busy, being Easter and we did find it necessary to get the sun loungers early. Would definitely return, had a great time.

Room Tip: Most rooms have sea/pool views, disabled rooms have mountain views.

Just recovering from another week of too much excellent all-inclusive food and drink at the Papagayo Arena. We stayed 16-23 April 2012. It's a good job there's the hotel gym and the hike over cliffs to the (super) beaches to work off all the nourishment. Compared with last year, the staff seem even better trained and even more helpful and friendly. The batteries died in our TV remote control and the shower soap dispenser came unscrewed off the wall. Reported at breakfast time, fixed by mid-afternoon. Olé, as they say round there! The Green Bar's live music of an evening makes a perfect end to the day. The frequent live music seemed to be a new thing, or did we just miss it last year?. We got to a couple of the hotel theatre shows - the conjuror did amazing things with cards and the Chinese show was as clever as ever (how DO those masks work?). There didn't seem to be such a mix of nationalities this year - about half Brits and half Spanish? As ever, a good number of small children, but they are very well behaved and are a source of amusement rather than any kind of nuisance. The free wi-fi in the Reception area was new to us this year and very handy. We got a really good room with a free electronic safe this time - this must be another welcome upgrade working its way through the system. As most other reviewers say, this hotel is just about perfect. Warmer outdoor pools and at least one really hot spa pool (there's three!) with a warm shower in the spa area (with a big notice saying USE THE SHOWER!) would be the icing on the cake. As the spa showers are cold, no-one uses them properly - not good for hygiene. The big steam room ('hammam') is really hot and clean - it puts the one in our local hotel leisure club to shame. As the hotel is so popular with folk who use the nearby naturist beaches, we've asked the management to think about screening off a small discrete clothes-optional sunbathing area and they've said they'll consider the idea, so watch this space. If the hotel gets any better, we may have to think about moving in for the whole of winter...... .

How anyone can say that this hotel does not bend over backwards to accommodate the wishes of it's guests is beyond me. They must be professional moaners!!! The complex is spacious and is ideal for young families, young sophisticated couples and of course the more mature couples. The food choice is diverse with even a Chinese restaurant bookable in advance, at no extra cost and the A la Carte which is again bookable in advance and although a cost it is a reduced cost. Pools to suit everyone even to the dedicated swimmer as the large pool isn't heated so ideal for a decent workout.

Room Tip: I can only speak for 'A' block, this gives you a location overlooking the beach and full sea...

I stayed at this hotel between 12 -19th April 2012 with my husband and 8 year old daughter. My first impressions were a little disappointing as the hotel looked a bit shabby and could do with updating.
Our room was large and spacious with plenty of cupboard and draw space for all of our things. The double bed was large but it was a bit hard and took some getting used to. The child bed was a fold down sofa and although comfy was a bit lumpy. There is a safe in the room which is available for hire at 4 euros per day - with a 20 Euro deposit that you get back when you return the key at the end of your stay. Room and bathroom felt a bit old fashioned with dark wood and dated tiles - but I have to say they were kept spotlessly clean every day.
The hotels position is at the very edge of Playa Blanca in a quiet area, and you can take a really pleasant walk to both the Marina (20 mins) and into Playa Blanca (35 - 40 mins and it is absolutely lovely) along the pedestrian walk way that continues all along the coast. If you want to be a bit closer to Playa Blanca this hotel may be just a little too far out for you - but you can get a taxi into Playa Blanca for 4 euros each way, or use the shuttle bus from the hotel - but this only runs at certain times.
The hotel is kept immaculately clean in all the public areas, pool, gardens, bars, reception and eating areas. The reception area is spacious and there are plenty of seats etc, with a small bank of computers at the far end for use at 1 euro each time for 20 min internet etc access.
The bar area is very large with a lovely balcony area with comfy seating available - the seating inside the bar area is a bit formal and not very comfy with hard upright seats - it is a pity the whole of the bar hasn't got the comfy seatees.
The restaurant is a little bit like a canteen - although it is OK. There is a good choice of food (but not vast) and the quality is reasonable but I have to admit by being particularly disappointed with the desserts - after fruit and ice cream - only 3 or 4 others to choose from and they weren't great, but you won't go hungry and most food tastes are catered for. The snack bar near the pools was great for lunch time - they had hot dogs, burgers, chips, salad, pizza etc - great for the kids. Fresh pancakes were served evrey day at 4pm - the only down side is that these were served by the most miserable member of staff at the hotel - now there is a woman who is not happy in her work !!! - Pancakes were lovely though.....
There are 3/4 really lovely pools at the hotel - but there is only one of them kept at a reasonable temperature - which of course all the children like to use - all the others are absolutely freezing - seems to be such a waste to have them when no-one uses them because they are so COLD. There are loads of sunbeds etc available for use - and there was never a problem getting a bed at any time of the day - even when it was really busy - you can sit near the action - or there are plenty of quieter spots.
Overall this hotel is pretty OK and as probably with most people who stay at this standard of 4 star all inclusive holiday I have experienced better, but it's not too bad.
Overall we had an enjoyable holiday - the weather was OK - bit cloudy on a couple of days - but when the sun shone it was lovely.
Would I go back to Playa Blanca - most definately it is a great resort, back to this hotel - probably not - but we did have a nice time - and you could do much worse - it just misses some of the luxury finishing touches, and could do with updating in most areas.

Room Tip: All Sea view rooms are lovely.

Dear customer,

We have taken good note of all your remarks, and we wish to make it clear that the safe costs €3 per day (not 4), and that we serve assorted dishes other than fast food at the Snack.

Concerning the issue at the Snack Bar you have mentioned, we have not had any complaint at all about our workers' behaviour, but we will take it into account.

Thanks again for your review, and we send you our best wishes.

We stayed at this hotel from 12th to 22nd April 2012 to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary.I can honestly say that this hotel is fabulous. We had a room in block B overlooking sea and a welcoming bottle of cava and a note in our room to say happy anniversary. The rooms are very spacious and spotlessly clean with fresh towels every day.The food is amazing with so much choice. There's fresh fruit, lovely bread, and meat and fish which are cooked in front of you by the chefs in their tall hats ! Every food you can imagine is available and of very high quality. There's an Italian restaurant too if you want a change and a small Chinese restaurant which you book 24 hours in advance.A lovely bar to sit on the balcony and watch the sea is the Canary bar.At night there is the green bar for adults with a piano player some nights. The staff in the restaurants and bars are all so fantastic and helpful and Theresa in the green bar even remembered what we have to drink after a couple of nights !The reception staff were very efficient and helpful and dealt with our every request. All the staff make you feel very welcome and a valued guest which we loved. The pool areas are spotless with plenty of loungers and lovely to catch a bit of sun.Turn right out of hotel reception and take a walk over the hill to a lovely beach with golden sand not the dark sand which you usually find. Also take a 30 minute walk to Rubicon Marina with nice shops and a market on Saturdays-very pretty. This holiday was out of this world thanks to this beautiful hotel and it's wonderful staff and welcome. We will certainly be going again.Have a look at the pebbles on the beach which say Happy 30th Julie which my husband did for me.Nice way to send a greeting if you are celebrating while you are there ! Thank you Papagayo Arena for everything. We will be back !

Room Tip: Try and ask for a sea view room before you go.
