The villas are well spaced out and very private. The welcome pack was very good with milk, butter, cheese, ham, water, red wine, oils, bread, jam and eggs. We rushed to supermarket before we arrived and really didn't need to.

We were upgraded to a 4 bed villa 9.2 and it was one of the best villas in terms of size and view. They are equipped with more than you need. We haven't used a villa for years and missed having a daily cleaning service. We stayed for a week and didn't have anything replenished ( although you could pay for this service as an extra - also the washer and dryer were very good) but it did mean we were left alone and could relax.

Mark is always on hand during the week and can be contacted in an emergency by phone at the weekend.

We had a late flight but Mark allowed us to use another villa as ours was booked out. This was really useful.

We had a problem with the air conditioning when we arrived on the Saturday but the engineers arrived first thing Monday morning and fixed it. Every room has a unit and they are so powerful.

We hired a car for the week and felt we needed it as we had elderly people in our party - the main resort was a good 10 mins away by car and 20 mins to the marina. Although not totally necessary as there are a few shops locally and a few good restaurants including an Indian.

The weather wasn't great while we were there and as our villa was high up the winds were very high. I imagine this is great during the warmer months.

It was lovely to eat out as there are some fab restaurants but was also great to eat on the terrace? Lani's at the Marina do takeaway pizzas which were fab.

The security guard is around day and night and always gives you a wave.

The pool was cleaned every other day. It can be very slippy so I suggest you wear pool shoes.

The barbecue was great ( although hard to light with the high winds) we used Ropers supermarket (papagayo end well signposted) it has a great butcher meat and fish counter and a well stocked supermarket. We had 5 great sirloin steaks for 13 euros and it was delicious. You can ask the butcher for exactly what you need. It can be tricky in a basic supermarket especially finding things like plain pork sausage etc.

The cleanliness is great and we didn't see a single insect or bug while we were there but a fair few moscittos so its a good idea to take the plug ins.

All in all a great week and would return.

If you have never been before we recommend Timanfaya Fire Mountain. It's number one visitor attraction and its amazing! My 9 year old Son hasnt stopped talking about it.

Please mail me if you require any further info - also reviewed a fair few restaurants.

We have just returned from a week in one of the four bedroom villas. The villa was spacious, clean and extremely well equipped. The heated pool was great.
Outdoor area well equipped and views were amazing.
Walking distance to some very good restaurants. Short drive or or 30 minute walk on coastal path to Playa Blanca.
Welcome hamper was appreciated.
Only negative was the noise in the late afternoon from some very drunk, loud and vulgar Americans staying along the valley. They were at least 100 metres away. Not a lot the owners of natural retreats could do about it.

Room Tip: Get a villa higher up the valley.

This is our second year of having some winter sun in Playa Blanca and this accomodation was far superior. We were thrilled. It had absolutely everything we needed and the high ceilings made it feel even more spacious. We have a four year old daughter but if you are travelling with young children, you do not need to worry. There is a stair gate, cots, high chairs, bath mats, blender, plastics bowls and spoons and toys for the beach and pool. The pool is stunning and we had amazing panoramic views from our three bed villa 10.1. It is also great with kids as one end is shallow with three wide but shallow steps so there is plenty of room for them to sand and splash as well. I agree you need a hire car and we tended to drive to the beach but the cost for the whole week is the same as a taxi ride from the airport. We also found Mark to be very helpful and he was able to let us stay on in the villa until 4 pm on the day of our departure which was awesome. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: The villas at the back have the best views. We may be biased but we think 10.1 had the best view.

We spent our honeymoon in the Natural Retreats villa in Playa Blanca. It was wonderful - the villa was so clean and had everything we needed in it. It felt really safe and peaceful.
The location is quite out of the way but that was perfect for us - it cost about 5euro for a taxi to the Marina Rubicon (on the other side of Playa Blanca) where we ate out most nights. The row of restaurants 5 minutes' walk away were great for the days we didn't fancy wandering too far (some nice restaurants and a nice cocktail bar).
If you were to walk along the coastal path (beautiful), a beach and some shops are about 15mins away, then the town about 40, and the marina probably an hour. We hired bikes one day from the town so were able to get around a bit easier (we didn't want to hire a car and we don't feel we needed one).
We booked quite late on so got a good deal so the value for money was great too. The concierge Mark was around if we needed anything. The welcome hamper was lovely and gave us a couple of nice lunches. The only one thing that was negative was we had been told the pool would be heated and it was freezing!!!! But this might be due to the weather which wasn't great. We didn't complain about it as we were too busy relaxing and exploring. We would DEFINITELY return. Beautiful villas in a beautiful location; lovely and peaceful. :)

We spent 10 days last summer in Playa Blanca. We were two families, 4 parents and 4 daughters, that perfectly fit into the 4 bedrooms property. Natural Retreats' villas were of high quality standards, absolutely worth the money (we got an extra 20% discount for early booking). Mark was an excellent Manager that was always available to help. The private pool is a wonderful add-on that was always rewarding even after a whole day in sandy Lanzarote beaches.
Rental car is a must (you're located away from any restaurant or shop) but in any case, you would always rent a car when in the Canary Islands.

Natural retreats Play Blanca is a perfect spot for families with children and even those without as each villa is very secluded and private. The quality of the finishes and amenities within the villa are excellent. Kitchen is great with all mod cons, plenty of crockery and serving dishes as you will want to cook and eat on the fab private terrace by the pool as the sun goes down! There is even an espresso machine.
It is walkable to restaurants and bars and only a short car drive away from PLaya Blance and all it has to offer. The Marina about 10 mins drive away is fantastic with excellent choice of restaurants bars and shops. You could go there every night and eat something different.
Only put average for fitness centre because there wasn't one but I wouldn't want one!

Room Tip: All the villas are fantastic but the ones facing the ocean have great views of the other island

My husband and i have just spent a week staying in a 3 bed property. We don't normally stay in villas but I think after this experience we may well choose to do so more often. We have stayed at other nat.retreat properties in the uk (cornwall, yorkshire and north Wales) )and have always found them to be excellent value for money and lanzarote certainly didn't disappoint.
The villas are modern and minimlistic (which we like) - they are airconditioned and well kitted out (although I think the fridges shld be bigger!). The kitchen is well supplied with nice white china and a very good coffee machine (i was sceptical but now converted) -also a decent dishwasher. There are nice touches like salt nd pepper and tea bags all provided as well as the usual nat.retreats wecone hamper with eggs, cheese, bread and milk - and wine (although a nice added touch wld be to check what preference as we drink white or rose in hot countries but that's just me being ultra demanding! It's certainly enough to keep you going if you arrive late The beds were comfy (although the duvets could be lighter to suit the climate and wld help lesson the need for aircon on to run all night!) and the shower was good. A major nat retreats irritation (for us) is lack of bathroom shelves/storage and hooks - sometimes the interior designers seem to forget function is as necessary as design ( no boot/coat/bucket spade storage in cornwall for example)! This resort actually has lots of bedroom cupboard space (in the master bedroom) but one more drawer set would be useful!. It has massive space downstairs including a dedicated laundry room with a washing machine and drier- fab! The outdoor space varies from villa to villa. Ours was very good but some are on the smaller Side.
The resort manager, mark, is friendly and very accommodating with a good sense of humour (once you get it!). He is keen to make the resort as good as it can be and is happy to take on board comments/suggestions especially for the new villas just being built ( bigger fridges please mark!).
The resort is on the far end of playa blanca, 2 miles away from the harbour. We walked in to the main resort on a couple of nights which was a Really pleasant 40 min walk long a wide promenade
Perfect for buggies etc. the centre is typical..lots of seafrontbrestaurants, bright and busy. Five mins walk from the resort is a small semi sandy beach with 4 very decent restaurants and a modern up market cocktail bar along with a more affordable sports bar. We preferred this as was much quieter and more relaxing.
So you dont have to drive at all if you dont want to. We had a car as we wanted to explore the island and the best sandy beaches are accessed by car a little way out of town.
All in all we had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay and I would definitely recommend it to couples and families alike.
