“Yet another great stay here.......”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2013

We have stayed here 4 times and enjoyed our recent stay very much.
Great location near to the Marina and local beaches.
Hotel service was very good, staff very attentive and polite.
Rooms are modern and a good size.
We definitely recommend a stay here.
We will be back.

Room Tip: Hotel wasn't full when we stayed, so the very friendly reception staff let us choose from 3 room...

Staying at this hotel was the second week of our two-centre package with Classic Collection (see my review on Seaside Los Jameos Playa)
First impressions of this hotel are quite stunning, from entering reception to the sound of chanting monks, cascading waterfalls etc and all the staff here are dressed in national costume.
Our room 308 was in a good position overlooking the main pool, the marina and views out to sea. Rooms are generally well appointed with adequate drawer and hanging space, a nice seating area and good size balcony. The bathroom has bath/shower which is adjustable, twin basins and separate toilet and bidet.
The grounds need a bit of attention as much of the vegetation appeared to be dying off due to lack of water or attention. The pools are in need of repainting/re-tiling and the sunbeds round the main pool are disgusting for a 5 star hotel.
Other negatives include poor sound insulation in rooms. You will definitely hear your neighbour flushing his loo! The lighting in the rooms is also very poor. The balcony has no clothes dryer facility which I found strange for a hotel of this calibre.
There is no real focal point and little in the way of entertainment.
The restaurant is an extremely attractive place to eat, with tables nicely laid out and well spaced apart. Wine, for a 5 star hotel, was very reasonably priced. Breakfasts were excellent but I cannot say the same for evening meals. They offered a good choice of salad, but hot foods were very poorly lit and displayed and much of it was not that special.
Choice of desserts was modest to say the least with very little choice of fresh fruit. The fruit on offer was always served in glasses - a rather strange idea, making it difficult to eat.
The company who now own this hotel are only a small chain and I wonder if they've bitten off more than they can chew, as much of the complex needs some serious money spending on it.

Room Tip: Upper rooms are best. Some of the lower ones are very dark

Stayed recently in Club section of this hotel and found everything very good. If travelling without children it is worth staying in this part of the hotel. The room was bright, airy and very clean although the floor tiles are beginning to show some signs of wear and tear. It is a bit surprising that there is no turn down service at night or towels etc refreshed at this stage but that is a fairly small quibble. Breakfast was excellent, variety and quality very good although another small point might be that a menu of cooked items available would be helpful. The Wifi worked very well for me while in the Club area. The location of this hotel is excellent either for restaurants or walking on the promenade and the great sea view. Check in was very easy although we did know where to go, if it was your first time to the hotel it may be a bit confusing and the fact that a late check out was no problem as we had a late evening was very welcome.

Spent a week with my partner at this gorgeous hotel in April. From the welcome at the spectacular entrance to the speedy efficient check out, we found nothing to complain about.
The room we had ( 309) provided a lovely view across the Marina to the sea. Our room was spacious with the most comfortable bed ever - I slept soundly every night - bliss !
I loved the extra little touches,, gorgeous candle in the bathroom with fresh flowers, and other handy little necessities.
The breakfast is superb with all tastes catered for.
There is a tranquil atmosphere in this hotel, suitable for those looking for rest and relaxation.
The location of the hotel is superb with easy access to beaches and lots of nearby restaurants offering pleasant views across the Marina .
We loved it here and already planning a return visit

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view

We have just returned from a weeks holiday to the Volcan Hotel, warm welcome with a glass of orange juice. The receptionist explained the hotel layout well and explained all we needed to know. The porter took us to our room (311) with our luggage, he explained on the way how to get to the buffet breakfast and how to access the gate to the promenade.

The room was clean, canary style exposed blue wooden beams with plenty of storage space. Fridge included 2 free bottles of water. The TV only had sky news/BBC news which is plenty as on a sunshine holiday I certainly don't wish to spend time watching loads of TV. On our 2nd evening my husband found lots of ants around our shoes and on the wall, a quick phone call to reception and a man came and inspected the offending invasion and promptly called reception and we moved rooms (207) a porter was sent to move our bags. Had to pack and unpack but it only took 5-10 mins. The hotel handled this uncontrollable situation quickly and with out any fuss. A bottle of Cava was left in our room the next day with a note.

We found the buffet breakfast excellent with lots of choice, you can even make your own tea with PG tips tea bags! Tables were cleared promptly and with a smile. We also ate at the restaurant by the freshwater pool at lunchtime (4 times) this was reasonably priced and nicely presented food (salads 6 -9 euros and sandwiches 4 -6 euros) there was hot food on the menu but we didn't have any. We had ice creams from the pool bar in the afternoon, the choice was limited towards the end of our weeks stay, it had been very hot (30 -35) so they had sold out of many of them. They were reasonably priced to (2 -2.50 euros).

We found the sunbeds by the freshwater pool in good condition (there are many comments on TA that they are tatty) the other sunbeds by the large saltwater pool had cushions on them and they did look tired and in need of replacement. This didn't affect us as we used the other sunbeds nearer to our room. There was plenty of sunbeds to choose from and we didn't chose to join the towel putter- outers and always found 2 beds easily. The pools where clean, not that warm, but once you are in they are fine!

The gardens were well maintained and the communal areas of the hotel well looked after, we found the hotel easy to get around and it didn't feel big to us, there are many comments on here that lead to you to think that its a maze and you have to walk miles.

We had B&B rate as this suits us so we can eat out locally, there are many restaurants to choose from nearby and several more within a half hour walk towards the main area of Playa Blanca.

The only complaint of our stay is the poor WI-FI signal, in this modern day we all like to check emails and surf the net, even if it is to look up on TA for our evening meal.

The hotel we thought was good value, we thought it was 5 star. It is not 5 star deluxe/luxury as the price reflects. If you want 5 star luxury you need to stay at the nearby Yazia but we were quoted twice as much as our week at the Volcan. But if you want a quiet clean hotel, towels changed everyday and a good buffet breakfast with lots of choices for eating out in the evening this is the place for you.

We had an early flight home, at 7am and if you order the night before the hotel will give you a complimentary breakfast picnic box to take with you.

Taxis cost 45 - 50 euros from the airport.

We definitely would recommend, we unlikely to return ourselves as we try somewhere new each holiday.

The guests did seem to be 'older' 50 plus, but that didn't bother us. We din't go to any of the evening entertainment so can't pass comment on it.

Room Tip: 207 & 311 both have sea views

Your hotel’s design is interesting; we loved it.
The location is great with views over The Marina to Playa Blanca and Fuerteventura.

The reception was friendly and efficient.
Our luggage was transported swiftly to our room which was spacious and well-appointed with great attention to detail; the website provides an accurate representation.

All your hotel’s facilities were maintained to a high standard except the sunbeds which need recovering.

The food was fabulous and there were options to dine within the half board tariff in your hotel’s other restaurants and in restaurants on The Marina.

All your staff proved excellent; Ignacio in The Rubicon Italian Restaurant was outstanding.

The Club Volcan provides a sophisticated environment.
When we entered the restaurant for dinner we were greeted by a charming host or hostess and shown to a table where high chairs and pushchairs were all around us!
Push chairs were parked in the bar and entertainment area with infant children running around.
This was a distraction for guests and the talented local acts.

Adults in couples were your main guests and we should love to return when you cater for them in the restaurant and bar.

Room Tip: A sea view room is worth the extra.

It is less than a week ago that my wife and I returned from a short break at Hotel Volcan. We were both really pleased with the overall experience and the hotels facilities. The room was very large with a nice seating area, king sized bed and large bathroom area. The room was very clean and tea & coffee making facility a welcome touch. The food was good but maybe need more staff to serve the cooked foods at breakfast time. All staff were very friendly and accommodating.

The only downsides were as other people have mentioned, the very cold swimming pools and the lack of wi-fi connection in the rooms. Come on Hotel Volcan, give priority to these small improvements and I am sure everyone would appreciate this great hotel so much more!!

Room Tip: Great harbour and sea view from room 568.
