“Club Volcan Is 5 Star”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2012

Quite a few previous reviewers have questioned the 5 star rating of this hotel. In our opinion, the adults only Club Volcan area of the hotel where we stayed is 5 star. Notable facilities include high rooms with good views, separate pool and sunbathing area, separate breakfast room, free afternoon tea 4-6pm and a well stocked free bar 6-9pm.
The rest of the hotel could be described as 4 star, except the evening buffet restaurant which in our opinion is 3 star; food is rather ordinary and not well presented or labelled. The other on-site evening restaurant is the Japanese one which is very good.
The location of the hotel is good being adjacent to the Marina Rubicon where there are plenty of good restaurants. Hence, we would recommend going B&B in order to have a choice of dinner.

Room Tip: For adults only, Club Volcan is well worth the extra cost

Have stayed in Playa Blanca many times, but this was the first time in this hotel. It is located at the Marina Rubicon which has its own shops and restaurants, so you don't have to go far for food or shopping. It is a short walk, about 5 minutes into the main resort.
The hotel is built to resemble a Canarian village and it is very well laid out and easy to find your way around. The rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. We were in a standard room and it was very spacious. We could step out from our terrace to a small pool. It was a short walk to the larger pool and the restaurant were we had breakfast every day. The choice of food and drinks at breakfast was excellent.
The staff were all welcoming and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a relaxing holiday.

Thought I would love this hotel and first impressions were good, receiption was efficient and bags service to room was very promt.
We stayed in the Club Volcan area and enjoyed the extras this gave us, well worth it for breakfast and evening drinks alone.
Room was overlooking Marina which is a great view in the evening sun.

Deck area is quiet and has great views of Papaguau beeches and Futerventura. The service at the pool bar was good although quiet limited on the menu at lunchtime, complementary afternoon tea and snacks from 4pm and complimentary drinks from 6-9pm

Dislikes
Noise from above (scraping furniture from rooms being cleaned every day from 9:30 am), not allowing you to call a taxi from your room and making you go to receiption to then wait for it ( not very 5*)

In-house Japanese resturant was not great , tip! spend a bit more and god to the fabulous Japanese expeience at the Princess Yaiza ( bit more expensive and you need to book in advance) Also no shorts allowed!

If you like Chinese food go to China City on the front towards the west end of the main bay at Playa Blanca, food was fabtastic.

Likes
Breakfast, sun deck in Club Volcan, evening drinks, close the Marina Rubicon

Services rating I've given is based on the fact that it depends who you get and as the shift rotate through your stay you get a different experience.

Hotel was busy so extention to room was not allowed but access to the gym allowed us to freshen up before departing.

Weather was bad which is unusual for September, only 3.5 days of Sun out of 10 Days.

Overall I would stay again, just the odd small changes would make this a great hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms over looking the Marina 558-563

We spent two great weeks here. We arrived earlier than expected and we were offered a room to change our clothes and to refresh ourselves. This was greatly appreciated. We were given a couple of pass keys and we went to the marina for a light meal before our room was ready. Our room was light and airy, we had great views to the marina. The facilities are what we expected and it was great that it was separate from the living area. The furniture had seen better days but then again nothing was broken or damaged.
We were there on a half-board basis and this was sufficient for both myself and my wife. Each time we were met by gracious and helpful staff. The food was really good but even for me I started to feel there good that the selection on offer could of been more diverse. I appreciated the guys and girls doing the cooking, trying to please everyone at the same time can be very trying.
The pools were all kept clean and never had a problems in getting a bed. We were shown the Club Volcan area with lounge area and separate pool area. Very nice indeed.

Will we be going back again to the Hotel Volcan? Too right we will and probably go as often as we can.

A very big thank you to all the staff of the Hotel Volcan who looked after us.

Room Tip: If you choose a room with a westerly aspect, you'll enjoy the sun longer as it sets.

We wanted a quiet, relaxing holiday in lovely surroundings with hot weather - and got exactly that. This holiday was to celebrate hubbies 60th birthday and was slightly more than we would usually spend for an 11 night holiday - but was worth every penny. Included in our holiday package was 25kgs of luggage and taxi transfers to and from the hotel. Well worth it and no hassle waiting for other passengers to join the coach! We booked a seaview with balcony overlooking the Marina and the view was absolutely fantastic. We spend many a lunch hour sipping wine, eating olives and looking at the view - perfect! The Room itself was charming, decorated in calming blues and was large, airy and very comfortable with a bathroom of a good size and with lots of toiletries and soft towels. Hotel layout was unlike any other hotel we have ever stayed in, full of lush green foliage, small waterfall and the hotel rooms were more like little houses in a village, all different shapes, sizes and colours. There were several shops inside the Hotel - one where you could get a daily paper, souvenirs and another with lovely jewellery at a very reasonable price. Hotel was on several levels with swimming pools on each level. The Hotel gate led right onto the Marina where there were lovely restaurants, bars and shops. There were plenty of loungers and umbrellas and was not crowded.

The Service was very good, we were greeted at reception and given fresh orange juice and taken to our room. The buffet style breakfasts and dinners had plenty of choice and the waiters were very attentive.

We would defintely go to this Hotel again and would recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing, no hassle holiday in beautiful surroundings.

Spent a week at the Volcan lanzerote from the 9th sept, We arrived at around 7-30 pm and were checked in quickly and shown to our room which was a good size but the furnishings were a bit dated. We were booked on a half bord basis but this ment we had only one restaurant to choose from (no Italian) 20% off price of the Japanese rate. We were advised that we could eat at two restaurants at the marina and our bill could be charged to our hotel. No great advantage there.
Food aside, the pool area was the main disappointment, the lounges plus umberellas were old and worn, the pool itself was very nice but had paint chipped in areas. Then there was the ants, by Tuesday you could hear people swotting them, Wednesday morning the pool guy was hosing down the whole area and the ants disappeared, this should be done every day, also the bins around the pool were not emptied on a regular basis. I feel the staff are doing their best but there needs to be a more organised effort on behalf of the management. Evening entertainment was pathetic to say the least, it would be better to do away with it altogether than have the same thing roled out every second night.
