Dont be fooled into thinking this is a genuine five star hotel, although the reception and other public arears are of a high standard the rooms are not.
On arrival we were disgusted to find a blood stained pillow on the bed, the rooms are spacious and well equiped but rather dated. Our patio area had a 20 foot high wall to one side and wall with wooded post on top directly in front blocking views and giving the impression we were in some kind of stockade or prision.

Getting to the restaurant or bar at night was positive danger due to the lack of lighting an absence of handrails on most of the stairs and slopes. Selection of food in the restaurant was extreamely poor and and more than a few of the staff were glum faced and could not be bothered. After a couple of attempts at finding something decent to eat we gave up and decided to eat out.
Entertainment was non existent on Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday nights, drinks were very expensive but a least the bar staff could muster a smile.

On a positive note the hotel location is excelent with easy access to the marina and promenade via a security gate at the rear.

I stayed here for 1 week in September with my daughter and we enjoyed the location of the hotel.
We had a nice large room with a lovely balcony and view of the harbour. The hotel restaurant is set on stilts over the pool and the outside glass area is very pleasant. We ate early and always got good service. The wine and drinks are reasonably priced. The food was good with a large selection every night. I am the fussiest eater and I always enjoyed the meals at night.I go about 6 holidays a year and I would say that this is not a 5 star but a 4 star hotel. There is limited evening entertainment but we were not interested in this anyway. Overall we had a lovely relaxing holiday and liked the Playa Blanca area.

first impressions were good, but gradually changed as time went on. Only here for a week. Bed sheets only changed on request. On one of the days the room was not cleaned. Restaurants in the complex were closed. With the exception of a couple of staff, most were surly or unhelpful. Food was terrible. Outside lighting turned on only when camera crew turned up one evening and the entertainment really needs looking at. The pool area was lovely, but let down by the pool which needs some renovation. Asked for and paid for a sea view but had a hedge and wall to look onto and could not see the harbour or pool. If you had replacement tea or coffee in the room you were charged. Shouldn't happen in a 5* hotel.

Room Tip: ask for a sea view or pool view

My wife and I stayed here for one week. We arrived at the hotel and I have to say that the reception was very poor. We were not offered a welcome drink and we had to wait some time for someone to take our cases to the room. We were not even asked to take a seat. When I complained about this later I was told that Thursday is a busy check in day. Well there were two of us waiting to check in! It would have been very nice to have been greeted with a smile but no such thing happened. On the occasions when I went to Reception I was met with rather gloomy faces. This holiday was to celebrate my wife's upcoming 70th birthday and I thought I would surprise her by upgrading to a Club room but when I asked about this I was told to come back tomorrow. Well having settled into our room, which I have to say was very nice, we decided to abandon the idea. So by the end of day one I had decided that this was nowhere being a five star hotel.

The meals were generally palatable and the waiters attentive but there was never anyone serving a roast. The roast meat was simply carved up and left to dry out. The poor man on the cooked breakfast counter was all by himself. He had to cook bacon, fry eggs, make omelettes, poach and boil eggs. The queue was generally long. There was clearly a shortage of staff.

The restaurant for lunch was dire. We had cold chips one day and on another occasion had a pizza which was the worst I have ever tasted. On the lower pool area there was no bar and no one came round asking if you wanted a drink.

The room which we had was on the fifth floor and there was an excellent view of the marina. The room was well furnished and the maid service was very good. There were facilities for making tea and coffee but limited tea, coffee and milk supplies were not replenished. We were fortunate in having a balcony part of which was shaded but many rooms had no shaded part and must have been very hot to sit on.

The marina had a good selection of restaurants and a useful supermarket.

The walk along the promenade into Playa Blanca was excellent and the taxi fare back to the hotel was 3 euros.

If I sound somewhat negative it is because I expect certain standards of a 5* hotel. Unfortunately these standards were not all met by this hotel.

Room Tip: Higher up rooms have a good view but do make sue that part of the balcony is shaded.

My wife and I stayed at the Club Volcan end of July / beginning of August. The club and common areas are kept spotless. The rooms were very nice with usual amenities. The pool & pool area were kept clean and very tranquil. The restaurant was modern and the food excellent. The service in the club was excellent, everyone polite and attentive. Manuela, the club hostess ( Client liason ) was extremely professional and friendly. Manuela ensured her guests' needs were catered for. The patisserie at afternoon tea were out of this world and the pre-dinner drinks to allow guests to meet one another was an excellent idea. The hotel complex whilst impressive I would not consider 5*, however the Club meets this standard.

Just back from spending a week at the Volcan........Hotel enterence and reception very impressive....lovely rooms....and a well thought out layout of the hotel. BUT......AND ITS A BIG BUT....the food is dire.......Everything seemed to be cooked in the same oil and was taste less as its a buffet resturant the food was cooked to order.......very slowly......the queue for a cooked breakfast could go back 10 people in the morning. After the first 2 nights in this 5* hotels resturant we gave up and went out into the marina to eat......where the food was a good deal teatier and the drink a good deal cheaper. Over all a desent enough weeks holiday......nice hotel.....never a 5* in a million years.....but the food !!!!!!.........would i return ??........NO.

Stayed here for 1 week H/B. On arrival it is impressive and the rooms are very nice (once you've fumigated against the stale odour) but that is it....We travelled as a couple and do not like rowdy noisy hotels but this one has no atmosphere what so ever, the food is very poor, there were flies on the salad, the same fruit was bought out day by day and as for the freshly grilled meat, all it tasted of was oil, the same with the egg and bacon situation in the morning, you have to queue up for the "chef" to fry one egg at a time covered in oil!! We gave up eating in the hotel after two nights and ventured down to the restuarants in the marina. This is definetely not a 5 star hotel, everything is there for it to be but they haven't really got a clue, we stayed at a 4 star hotel in June in Fuerteventura and the Hotel Volcan doesn't come close even though it cost us another £200 each, very very disappointing. We spoke to a number of other guests who also felt the same, would definetely not recommend this to anyone.
