“The best of the pure tourist restaurants”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

This is a typical restaurant aimed at the tourist market. Nevertheless we enjoyed our meal here . The food was nice not too expensive and the staff we efficient rather than friendly. We did think the price of the wine to be rather costly especially as it was very average . Of the tourist restaurants on the seafront promenade in our view this was the best of the bunch. It did have a vibrant atmosphere

“Very touristy but if you accept that fact then worth a visit”
Reviewed November 18, 2012

The Playa Blanca restaurants is one of numerous ones of its type on the sea front promenade.. There all seem much of a muchness. Although we usually go for the less commercialised places to eat we were pleasantly surprised all round at our experience eating. Very much the standard tourist menu,Prices are about average although they do push up the price of the wine, this where they make their profit!! The food was good enough and the staff were obviously primed to interact with the diners If you want a restaurant on the sea front then this one that is worth considering.

“Good Food - Excellent service - Fantastic setting”
Reviewed November 17, 2012

Right on the seafront- beautiful setting. Food is very good. The service is excellent. This restaurant has been a favourite of our family's for years and we feel very much at home there. The lamb chops and chicken with gorgonzola sauce is particularly good. The Canarian potatoes and salad are very tasty.  A pleasant dining experience

“Decent fare”
Reviewed September 9, 2012

As a family, this restaurant was very much our favourite during our fortnight in the area. The waiters made everyone feel welcome (importantly, they smiled and joked with the children) and were neither pushy nor inattentive.

Over our four visits, we sampled a large selection of the menu: overall, the standard was fine but I agree with other reviewers that the sea bass baked in salt (which they flambé table-side) deserves top marks while the tapas may be below par, on occasion. (For top quality tapas, walk a little further on to Bodegón las Tapas, where you'll pay a little more)

The Spanish Chicken was unmemorable, the Lamb Shoulder was quite tough, and the Carne Mixta was bland (although adequately cooked). Steaks, fish and paella were served well, as were the desserts, my favourites being the Tarta de Santiago - a creamy, almond-flavoured flan - and the chocolate cake which was substituted for the (oft unavailable) Tarta de Sacher.

For the kids, the burgers, chicken nuggets, and spag bol were appreciated, and the ice cream and sundae selection adored. The presentation of the pizza with rabbit ears for our 8 year-old brought a few giggles.

Really good value, compared to others on the promenade, with a lovely view to boot.

“Dreadful”
Reviewed July 23, 2012

You don't expect culinary excellence from the many restaurants on the sea front at Playa Blanca. The views are fantastic, the weather usually beautiful and the people watching is fascinating - food is a little secondary but over the years we have grown to expect competent cooking and service from most places. Tapas should be a staple of any Spanish restaurant - small plates of well cooked food delivered in a sensible sequence over a reasonable time frame making for a relaxed meal. Instead we had bread, fries and a (pre cooked) spanish omelette delivered to the table in one go followed by a good 15 minute wait for some ordinary prawns in garlic and squid then eventually some chicken in garlic - except it was a huge portion of chicken in gravy. Appalling. At this point we paid for what we had eaten and left. The owner appeared disinterested and we certainly won't be returning. This is not tapas - it is a tourist rip off.
