Food not as good as last year but still worth going to! Onion rings were excellent, meatballs very tasty but baby squid enormous - more fully grown I think!

“Great Tapas & Wine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2014

We had a lovely evening meal in this great Tapas restaurant and wine merchant. The location, right on the sea front, is perfect. The food and especially the wine selection is much better than any other restaurant nearby. The restaurant also has a wine & delicatessen shop upstairs with a large selection of wines from Lanzarote and other Spanish regions.

My husband spotted this place the other day as we were looking for some ambiance with our beer's. Lovely wooden tables and benches drew us in. We were only there for a drink until the delicious smell of folk's lunches all around us made us quickly ask for a menu and I'm so stoked we did. The owner came to take our order and she recommended the fresh tomato and goats cheese salad with tomatoes from her garden. It was absolutely amazingly fresh and spectacularly tasty! We don't even like goats cheese but man you have to try this! Ham croquettes and fresh olives were mighty fine too.

You can taste the LOVE in this food...you truly can.

We're going to go back again today for lunch and I'm excited!

“Lousy service ”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2014 via mobile

Have to agree with other comments about service. We sat for a good 15 minutes and then a waiter who was standing around came over to clean the table. Tried to give him a drinks order but he didn't want to know. 10 minutes later he came over to take a drinks order and gave us menus!!!!!!! A different waiter took our food order. The food was gorgeous and I would recommend it. Pity about the terrible service. If they improved it they would have scored more highly.

So happy to have eaten here..Simple, high quality ingredients. The quality of the cooking is exceptional. It takes huge skill to understand how to make simple ingredients really sing. Careful sourcing is key & I guess the price may reflect this. It costs money to employ good staff to deliver food of this calibre. for example, you may be able to get a plate of Padron peppers at any number of other places on the front at Playa Blanca, but none of them will be cooked so carefully & accurately, or so perfectly seasoned.
Do make sure that you specify the tapas portions if that is what you want, as you may end up with too much food.
Great wine available too... though it did lead us into temptation, resulting in a nine hour lunch!
