My husband, myself and our three boys have just returned from a week at Villa del Mar. The villa is spacious and clean with attractive furnishings and plenty of cupboard space. It is also very quiet being set back away from the main road and with no properties in front of it. This was our second trip to Lanzarote - we specifically wanted somewhere with air conditioning as we had trouble sleeping due to the heat last time. In fact, it wasn't that hot this time but the air conditioning was still a great thing to have on muggy evenings.
We felt confident that nothing would go astray with the addition of an alarm system that was very easy to use when leaving the property.
Our 14 year old stayed in the third bedroom a few feet away from the main house and he felt very comfortable and safe there, very pleased to have his own ensuite shower as well.
We never felt on top of each other. There was plenty of space both inside and out for us to escape when the kids were getting too loud. Plenty of sunbeds around the pool and in a different part of the garden. A covered dining table to eat outside and a second dining table not under cover.
The villa was very well managed. We had a seamless transfer (which we requested) from and to the airport. Lilos had thoughtfully been left in the games room which our kids loved using in the pool - the pool was cleaned mid-week and was lovely and warm. There were also balls to play football and of course the pool table and darts board where my husband escaped for quite a while each day!
You can walk from the villa out to the promenade which takes you all the way along to the Marina Rubicon right at the other end of Playa Blanca. My husband walked back from Papagayo beaches on one occasion and this took him around an hour and 45 minutes. A 15 minute walk along the promenade from the villa will bring you to the Natura beach hotel where our children got freshly-made smoothies and ice-creams. We also had some grilled fish there which was nice. Above this was Sebatyans Greek restaurant - very nice but quite expensive and you need to book in advance. Also some other restaurants which we didn't have time to try - a steakhouse and Italian both which have good reviews.
We also ate at El Faro nearby. We had a really nice, traditional meal of tapas the first time which was very reasonably priced. However, we ordered what was described as halibut on another occasion, were charged for this yet it turned out to be Cherne. I would still recommend it for tapas though.
All in all, we had a great week at Villa del Mar and should we return to Lanzarote, we wouldn't look elsewhere as it had everything we need and more.
Well what was a two week holiday felt like a month, due to being so relaxed, with lovely long days. Lots to do on the island which we have now visited 5 times our 3rd time to Faro Park. This villa was wonderful with absolutely everything you could possibly need. The pool was warm and cleaned regularly, the villa was spotless when we arrived and cleaned during our stay. One of the highlights for our family was the annex, my son is 25 and has friend and made more on holiday so did feel like he was disturbing us when he returned and he had his own space, so definitely recommended if you have older children. The strand of shops/bars just around the corner are handy if you don't fancy going far, and the New Indian was lovely we went 3 times La Faro always amazing and they remembered us from previous holidays and the Pizz Burger is good if you fancy a lazy night in as they deliver. We will definitely be back, if you choose this vial you will not be disappointed.
