“Lovely hotel but concerns regarding sickness”
Reviewed January 27, 2014

Just returned from Natura Palace ( 13th - 23rd Jan). Our eight time to Lanzarote, fifth time to Playa
Blanca, first time to this hotel. Nicest hotel we have stayed in in Lanzarote. Reception is very impressive and free wifi a bonus. Our room was in the annexe 2004. Large Ground floor room with sea view overlooking the garden. Very nice room.

Cleaning lady Jaqueline was lovely as was the bar waitress Jessica they both worked extremely hard and were always lovely and pleasant.

On the noise front we had lady above wearing clippy clopy shoes...what a nightmare. You cannot believe how much someone can walk up and down wearing heeled shoes on a tiled floor. We also suffered from loud music from bar on Friday and Sunday night. Think this is from the Indian bar down the road which is advertised in the hotel. It did turn off about 11.00.
Higher floor would be a bonus as we did suffer from ants and lizard in the room!

Lots of choice of food in the restaurant, carvery did appear to be Pork most nights as another reviewer has pointed out. Soups were quite variable sometimes very salty, not too hot. Generally we enjoyed them. Lots of different breads, variety of breakfast cereal and 'bits' dried fruit, seeds etc. particularly liked all the fresh fruit for breakfast and evening meal (instead of puddings). We particularly liked being shown to a table every day and thought it was a nice touch together with the cava for breakfast.

The weather wasn't very good, very disappointing but the worst for us was having arrived on the Monday by Wednesday I was completely out of action with severe stomach bug (sickness and diarrhoea ) this lasted 48 hrs but I didn't recover fully for 5 days. My husband started two days later. Not the best holiday most time spent in the hotel on the balcony. Most food eaten soup and bread.

Bit of concern regarding the show cooking as they appeared to cook raw meat, reheat part cooked kebabs and cook raw fish all from the same cooking station. The night before I was ill I ate a kebab which was handed to me by the chef direct from the food station but on returning to my table it was cold!!!

We reported our sickness to the Thomson Rep and were told no one else had reported sickness. There were lots of single people in the dining room on some days and I have a suspicion they were couples inflicted by illness. We witnessed a gentleman leave the table one evening having just ordered a beer (having not eaten anything) while wife continued to have starter, main and pudding ...gentleman still not returned by the time we left the restaurant.

Rep later informed us that other cases had been reported at Timanfya, even some one hospitalized and other cases at another hotel. We also have knowledge of another couple who stayed at Lanz Princess and they also were unwell with sickness bug .

This experience has definitely put us off Playa Blanca and I hate to say it but also the Natura Palace. Sorry......I wait to see if anyone else reports sickness.

Our stay was for 7 nights, 2-9 January. First occassion at this Hotel but I travel to lanzarote every January.

I had requested a South West facing room, and this was granted and had sun all afternoon on the balcony with fantastic views of the sea and the pechiguera lighthouse in the distance.

Very happy with the standard in room albeit a bit dated. Good standard of cleanliness both in the room and general areas.

The best things about the Hotel are without doubt the staff, who authentically were pleasant, happy to serve and efficient at all times and that means everyone without exception! The food is the best quality I have had ever!! in Lanzarote.Hot plates and Hot food!! Having a maitre'd is a unique experience nowadays in buffet restaurants and this was so welcome, creating a superb dining experience added to the fact the Chefs actually interacted with guests and provided a great service and standard.

Evenings were laid back and enjoyable, we wondered where everyone disappeared to? Bar service was good, drinks choices and prices pretty much what you would expect in a Hotel.
If we had a lazy day around the pool we chose to have lunch at the Marea Bar next to the Hotel on the prom. They served lovely filled croissants and sandwiches which were freshly made at the Greek Taverna upstairs. Drinks prices were good here too....

All in all a fabulous holiday. The management should be very proud of their teams acheivements and excellent customer service, and deserve to be congratulated on our behalf.

Happy to answer any questions, on this lovely Hotel.

Having not had a holiday for 7 years we wanted somewhere relaxing to stay with great scenery, walks and great food.
Natura Palace, Lanzarote covers all these requirements.
We had a room which overlooked the swimming pools and the sea which made the ideal position to relax on our balcony before bed time with a bottle of wine. (There was a shopping arcade opposite the hotel which sold local wine at a very good price). The bar downstairs was also relaxing with a pianist providing relaxing entertainment for free. Prices of drinks was what you would pay in any bar and the cocktails were fantastic. There was also evening entertainment every night in another part of the hotel if you wanted to watch (we opted for the balcony).
The room itself was adequately equipped with everything you could want including a fridge (The hotel allow you to empty the contents of the fridge so you can use it yourselves) and welcome air conditioning. Our visit was in December 2013 and although the hotel was full we had no problem locating vacant sunbeds when we wanted them.
Food is extremely important to us and we had planned to try local restaurants occasionally but we never felt the need to. The variety of food available for tea was immense and covered most things you could think of from different fish to pork, lamb, beef, chicken, loads of different veg, salads and of course, local specialities. It was all presented buffet style and you simply select what you want and put it on your plate. Some of the food was cold buffet and they also had a hot area where chefs cook exactly what you want in any way you want in front of you. Each evening the restaurant also had a different countries themes with dishes from that country. The dessert area was very tempting with all kinds of things and again you just help yourself to as much as you want, as many times as you want. Breakfast was also excellent and again in a buffet style with cold and hot options. You could have anything from fresh fruit to boiled eggs to continental to sausage and bacon or even the whole lot if you wish. Breads are baked freshly and the croissants are delicious.
The location of the hotel was ideal for us. Playa Blanca town was a 25 minute stroll along the seafront from us where you can catch buses to anywhere on the island and also catch a ferry to Fuerto Ventura. You can of course catch a bus into the town or get a taxi. Carrying on along the seafront you will reach the Rubicon marina within another 25 minutes stroll from Playa Blanca town. Walking along the seafront you will see lots of shops and restaurants selling local specialities such as Paella and Tapas.
Behind the hotel is a volcano which you can walk to the top of and around the rim of the crater, beautiful views from up there. Well worth the effort.
If you fancy a trip, the 'Flavours of Lanzarote' and the 'Jeep Safari' are brilliant
To sum up the best bit of our holiday: The people who work in Lanzarote work so hard for you and are extremely helpful. We were impressed with their commitment to making sure all visitors had a great time. Thank you

We returned home 23 January from the Natura Palace after a 1 week stay. This holiday rates as one of the best we have been on, despite the weather being very unsettled.
Arrived at hotel early evening to a quick and efficient check in, we were advised to leave our cases, these were then numbered/labelled and brought to our room within a short period of time.
Room had sea view and overlooked beautiful gardens, tennis courts and small play area, very few children in hotel at this time of year, mainly more senior guests like ourselves.

Buffet style breakfast and dinner, with a vast choice at both, hot, cold, cooked or uncooked, you would be hard put not to find something to your liking. Overall we found food very good, lots to our liking perhaps too much on occasions, but as there are lovely walks along the promenade out the back of the hotel, some of the calories can be walked off. If you turn right the walk will take you to the lighthouse and left you can walk all the way to the Rubicon marina which takes approximately 50 mins., or you can get the bus just a few mins walk from front of hotel it costs 1.35 euros, if there are 4 of you then a taxis would work out around the same price. The walks can be as long or short as you wish and lots of places to stop for refreshments.

The hotel is in a quiet part of the resort and this suited us, but you could walk to a slightly busier part if this is what you prefer. It takes around 20 mins to walk to the nearest sandy beach. If walking in the evening along the promenade part of the road is unlit, so you would be well advised to take a small torch.

Some evenings we enjoyed the entertainment some we did not, everyone's tastes is different. Snacks at lunchtime were nice and reasonably priced as were the drinks including teas and coffees.

What makes this hotel so good is the staff, they are friendly, efficient and extremely well trained, we found there was a lovely relaxing ambiance about the place.

This was our first visit to Lanzarote and although it is an extremely windy resort, this will not deter us from returning, and as we found the hotel very much to our liking, we hope to return later in the year.

We emailed the hotel beforehand to request afternoon sun and sea view and we received exactly that. As previous reviewers have mentioned, there is an excellent choice of food for both breakfast and dinner, much of which is freshly cooked in front of you. It was nice to have some cava or orange juice for breakfast as we walked in and being able to refill our glasses as we left, to enjoy by the pool or any of the numerous seating areas. Staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful and the same applies to the Thomson girls. From the rear of the hotel, you can walk left or right along the promenade. If it's windy, there is a 'beach' just to the right of the hotel opposite Manea Bar, which gives shelter from the wind and Manea is worth a visit for both drinks and snacks. Walking the other way, there is another beach, which is sandy and sheltered and a bar restaurant called Casa Joaquin, which serves good pizzas and sangria, but if you're not too hungry, do share, as they are rather large! Food and drink in the hotel is reasonable and good quality. Wifi was 20 euro for the room but free in the lounge. We had good reception in our room. An in room safe and tea coffee making facilities would be very useful. However, we had read others' reviews and taken our own kettle. We found the rooms comfortable, well serviced and the balconies private. We would definitely return.

Just returned from 2 weeks stay at the Natura Palace and again we weren't disappointed with our experience. Although the weather could have been better everything about the hotel was first class and made up for it.
The food, like last time was outstanding and even after two weeks we didn't get bored with it, so extensive was the choice. The presentation of the food was impressive and the hygiene of the chefs and serving staff was faultless. Usually we encounter odd hygiene issues with hotels but this certainly was not the case here.
Our room, overlooking the pool was spotless and cleaned by a friendly maid every day.
The hotel staff were extremely courteous and helpful. The extensive pool area and surrounds were immaculate with adequate numbers of loungers.
On the downside, the free WiFi in the reception area was pitifully slow. Although another guest informed me that WiFi in the rooms which you paid for was much quicker.
Like most Canarian hotels there was a perceptible smell of sewage from the treatment plant at the south west of the hotel. One day in particular when the effluent was being removed it permeated throughout the lower level of the hotel.
The large number of German guests were also a mild irritation with their strict routines of reserving sun beds and specific tables near the windows in the dining room. They kept themselves pretty much to their own kind so we didn't have any real contact with them.
However these are only minor problems which in no way spoiled our second experience of staying at the Natura Palace

Room Tip: Very quiet hotel with little noise at night so choice of room not an issue.

The location of the hotel is right on the coastal path about a mile or so to the west of the centre of Playa Blanca - excellent for daily walks to the Marina and back! It is very well looked after and serviced and the premium room we chose was spacious and comfortable. The room had a sea view in the sense that it faced the sea, but in practice the direct view was completely obstructed by palm trees! Nonetheless we did have a side view of the sea and the balcony was spacious and private. Even in January we had very nice weather (typically 21C during the day and only dropping to 15C at night). Altogether a very nice hotel to stay at in a very nice resort. I am sure that we will return.

Room Tip: The premium rooms are in a separate block on the west side of the hotel and face the sea. The top fl...
