I stayed late July in a family room. Room good, staff good, breakfast good, evening meals were ok, got a bit repetitive with what was on offer. All in all though excellent value. Kids club very enthusiastic if you have young ones.

Very nice hotel, rooms spacious and of good standard. Hotel very big, numerous pools and plenty sun beds, we had no difficulty getting a sun bed. Food of a good standard, always fresh and plenty variety. We ate in the Italian restaurant twice which was good and Chinese once. Hotel staff pleasant although quite short in waiters serving drinks. We didn't have children with us, however there were lots of little pools and play areas. Evening entertainment good, magician excellent. Free wii fi in hotel lobby only which is quite annoying. Spa always very quiet. Hotel fair walk from shops etc, we took a taxi which was 5euros. Overall a pleasant holiday.

Room Tip: Very big hotel, lots of rooms, ask for one with double balcony

Even though this is classed as a 5star hotel it really only merits a 4star at most yes the bedrooms and food are wonderful but as regards pool area and bars no thanks. Filth sunbeds and bar service and bars terrible I have had better at 3star hotels. Disappointed.

We spent a very relaxing week at the Dream Gran Castillo in October, after reading reviews on this site about the hotel I pretty much knew what to expect. We were late arriving and thankfully the hotel provided a small buffet in the restaurant for all latecomers so we didn't go to bed hungry! The rooms were huge, with a separate lounge area (TV had some British terrestrial channels as well as BBC/SkyNews). We also had a walk in wardrobe which was brilliant. The bathroom was very impressive with 2 sinks, huge bath, amazing shower with extra jets and separate toilet area. Although we didn't request a sea view, from our balcony you had a beautiful view all the way across to Fuerteventura (if you ignored the view of the service yard in the foreground!) The beds were really comfortable and we didn't get disturbed by any noise during the night.
The food was really good, it was a bit samey but we mixed it up by eating at the Italian restaurant on 2 occasions. The service in the restaurant for the evening meal was superb, the waiters were so friendly and the house wine/beer was perfectly drinkable. We ate outside in the evenings watching the sunset, very romantic.
As a lot of reviews mentioned the service in the bar in the evenings was frustrating, I am not sure why this is? Possibly to stop people over indulging?? We're not big drinkers anyway but would have been nice to not have to queue for so long at the bar. We didn't watch any of the evening entertainment so I can't comment on that.
The poolside area was crowded and the sunbeds crammed in a bit, it was also difficult to find a free sunbed if you go down after about 10.30am, this was disappointing and meant that we felt in a rush to get to the pool. The hotel could do with replacing a lot of the sun loungers around the main pool as they were in a sorry state!
There was no iron in the room so we used the hotel's laundry service to get some clothes ironed, the service was shocking, no-one came to collect the clothes and I had to call reception a couple of times, apparently the turnaround was 24 hours but I had to call reception again to find out where our clothes were after 48 hours. They returned them, not very well ironed.

Overall despite the minor gripes we had a lovely holiday and enjoyed our stay at Dream Gran Castillo, there are a few things that could have made it better but it was really good value for money and the hotel and grounds are beautiful.

My mother and I stayed here for a week for a relaxing holiday in the sun. We were very impressed with the room and sea view.
The food was lovely and there was always sometihing even the pickiest of eaters (like me) would like. We were given a 7pm dinner time as requested, we found that it's best to be there near the start of the sitting as some dishes, especially smoked salmon, were not replaced when finished. We tried the oriental restaurant one night and it was a nice change but I prefered the main restaurant.
The walk to the marina is about 20 mins along the sea front and we did this most days. We also went into the town, which is a further 20 mins walk, to get our duty free shopping. When we took a morning walk we still managed to find sun beds on our rerurn. Also, if you get chance the hotel spa is worth a visit.

Just got back from a an delightful hotel and resort. Could not fault hotel, staff, food etc. we will be back!

Was recommended this hotel by my boss and he is really fussy so i thought out must be good. I was wrong. It wasn't good, it was excellent. Staff could not do enough to please. Food was excellent. Highly recommend the Italian restaurant. Chinese restaurant was ok. They seemed to be understaffed the night we went and it showed.

Rooms were very clean and spacious. Very quiet too unlike some i stayed in before. We had the opportunity to upgrade but didn't. Just wondering what the upgraded room would of been like!

Animation team were good. Plenty to do of you want to join in. Plenty to do for kods too.

The only negatives were all the sunbeds had towels on first thing in the morning even though this was not allowed and the queues for the bar in the castillo bar. Had to wait 10 minutes or so to get served. The drinks though were branded drinks. I don't even drink brands at home!

Overall a very nice stay. Make sure a visit to the papagayo beaches is made, however these are naturists beaches but you don't have to go starkers if you don't want to.

Like a grand castle which majestically dominates the seascape of the AtlanticOcean and its islands, the magnificent GRAN CASTILLO TAGORO is erected in the charming area of Playa Blanca, in the south of the volcanic isle par excellence: Lanzarote. With the conviction that elegance and comfort should come naturally, this Hotel is a tribute to 16th century Canary history and colonial architecture, inspired by the "Castle of San José" and the typical landscape of the island, blending in with the environment. The building is divided into different zones which maintain their colonial style, where the white facades and volcanic stone contrast with the backdrop of the deep blue ocean. A charming interior courtyard of Arab inspiration bathes the reception area with light, and the contemporary décor and pale colours create a warm and very elegant atmosphere. GRAN CASTILLO TAGORO pampers every detail of the rooms and suites, which have breathtaking views of the sea and surrounding scenery. They are decorated in a contemporary style, with marine touches, light-coloured wood and pale colours, creating a pleasant atmosphere full of light. The discerning selection of restaurants and cuisines serve Canary, national and international specialities. There are conference rooms featuring spearhead technology, and various outdoor zones for events of different kinds. The "Vitanova SPA" thalassotherapy centre provides the benefits of thermal seawater, and specific treatments for the body and soul.
