“Great job Bergantin, could do with a room refurb!”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

Travelled over on the 18th September with a group of six friends (which included two couples) and after staying further round 'the bay' the past two years, we did expect a slightly younger mix in the hotel due its closer location to San Antonio. This wasn't really the case though, I'd say a mix of 1/3 18-30, 1/3 older couples and 1/3 families.. Everyone seemed to be having a good time.
Upon arriving at the hotel, we checked in and were given three rooms in close proximity on the first floor (despite requesting rooms on the 5th floor). When I questioned this, I was told it was due to the hotel being very busy and this was the only floor with three rooms available. We left it at that, and headed to unpack. Having previously stayed at the Rosamar hotel (around 10 years old), it was immediately apparent that the rooms were of a dated feel, with single-glazed balcony doors, small TV etc however they were all clean and everything worked including good A/C. Only real complaint about the hotel is an aspect of the rooms - very thin walls, noisy beds (make of that what you will) and an ill-fitting front door make for a regular 4am wake-up calls when the groups of inbetweeners venture back to the hotel after failed mate-finding attempts ;). Overall though for the rooms, good shower, reasonable bed and good A/C.
The hotel has two main pools - A smaller (salt water) one where the older clients tended to go, and the large freshwater pool which was excellent, with plenty of sun-loungers, chairs and tables as well as a large bar area with plenty of indoor seating. There was a second bar area which looked to be closed up - perhaps they use this in the busier (June-August) season? Since I mentioned the bar, I'll expand on that.. both the pool bar and main hotel bar serve a great range of drinks on the all-inclusive basis; San Miguel, Spirits, Wine, Cocktails, Soft drinks, fresh coffee and fruit juice, milkshakes.. you won't be disappointed here. Just watch those slippery poolside tiles as you strut back to your sun lounger! Bar staff were all polite and friendly - particularly Isabella who liked the embarrass us when ordering 'sex on the beach'! While I'm talking about the pool area, I'll mention the Control/Security guard - we were a young group and had no problem with him, and he often greeted us. Was great to see a hotel in this area employing such a person - you'll find no looky-looky men or persistent ticket sellers at the Bergantin's poolside!
Many nights we decided to take advantage of the all-inclusive drinks whilst sitting out at the poolside/entertainment area.. we found that the majority of the shows were watchable and a good laugh, and even got involved with one of them - the Hotels' 'animacion' entertainment team are brilliant, particularly David and Valentina!
On to the restaurant - I never made it up in time for breakfast once, so can't comment..but if it was of the same quality as lunch and dinner then you'll have no problems - We had several fussy eaters in our party and they never complained once about any of the meals - always plenty to choose from, lots of salads etc available and desserts. Not five-star dining but then again why would you expect it from a 3-star hotel? A well-appointed dining area with plenty of seating.
Overall, we had an excellent stay at the Bergantin and it's very obvious the staff are a real credit to the place; they seem to be very accommodating to the wide range of guests who are at the hotel. It's location is great, 15-20 minute walk into San Antonio, shops/bars within 2-3 minutes walk in San An Bay, couldn't ask for a better location in terms of just the right distance away from 'vibrant' San Antonio. If you're easily woken, demand a top floor room and take some earplugs just in case ;) then again, Ibiza isn't exactly known for peace and tranquillity.
All that's left to say is well done Bergantin, there's a few years left in the old girl yet and you'll most likely see us again!

Room Tip: Avoid the first floor if you want sleep, poolside rooms get sun for most of the day

This hotel is not 5* and you are not paying for 5* either! We went looking for a week in the sun all inclusive with a couple of party nights (which turned into 7 party nights) and this hotel was the perfect base. I can imagine during peak summer it would have been very busy with young people and families should avoid at all cost, however when we were there (21st September for 1 week) it was perfect. There were no trouble or drugs, the worst we seen/heard was the noise in the corridor but they are so long even a whisper you would be able to hear. There was very little noise from the rooms either side of us and we didn’t hear anything from outside. We were on the 1st floor which is where they seem to put all the young people.

The food was OK, different each night which is much more than many all-inclusive places offer. The entertainment was hilarious in both a good and bad way, the team try so hard and they are all so friendly and up for a laugh.

I would go back to this hotel in a second! Have major holiday blues. We met a great group of people, hote is in a great location, great value for money, 3 pools, plenty of choice for food. Amazing!!!

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room ask for a high floor.

Went 14-28th sept.Room on third floor which was noisy on times. There were lots of gangs of boys staying there during our first week and some were very clearly the worst for drink during the day around the pool. I couldnt understand why they were continually being served with drinks when they couldnt even stand .The hotel itself was okay, stayed in worse but on the whole it was dissapointing which is a shame as it is ideal for families and couples. Was told that the hotel has been taken over and are encouraging youngsters to go as they want it to be 18-30 eventually.Went out every evening as entertainment was abysmal. I think it was the worst I have ever seen in any hotel. We went to a bar called the Sun and Moon only 5mins away where there was an artist every night and the drinks were cheap unlike some places.I did enjoy the holiday but I wont be returning.Roll on Tenerife and Benidorm next year.

Room Tip: Take an electric kettle with you cos tea and coffee is dreadful

This hotel has a real mix of party goers, couples and families staying. Luxury it isn't and its probably more basic than comes across on their website, but if you want a clean hotel within easy walking distance of San Antonio then this is the place. It's in a nice location and a 15/20 walk to San Antonio. Rooms big and clean, food ok but nothing to write home about. Only thing would have been better is if dinner opened earlier. We often had to leave to get a good spot for sun set and didn't have time to eat here first and missed out. Overall ok & would return if we ever returned (as more mature partygoers!)

I went to the Bergantin for 2 weeks with my wife and son who is age 9 the holiday starting from the 14th Aug 2013

Prior to booking this holiday we read many reviews on this hotel some were good and some were bad.
The only thing that stuck in our minds prior to booking was when making the booking was to request to be on the 4th floor.
As this is a party island lots of young couples and groups stay at this hotel therefore you will here lots of people coming
Back from the clubs in the early hours of the morning.

We found the rooms to be basic but ok the only down fall was the room had no fridge, the room had free air conditioning,
And a TV witch you had to give 10 euros as a deposit.

The food was of a good standard always fresh and hot, the food at lunch time seemed to be better than the evening meal. Like all 2 week holidays all inclusive the food on the 2nd weeks gets boring that's something you have to put up with.

The swimming pool and areas around it were very clean with plenty of sun loungers (you will need to get up early to get one)
Th pool area has a bar and as snack area where you can get hot food and drinks. The food being cook from 10-5pm was great you had to queue but no more than 10 minutes. All the drinks are served in plastic cups many people found this to be a problem but that was ok to us.

The entertainment team work very hard to keep everybody happy during the day and night I could write a whole review about the team they were brilliant.

We have just paid to go back to the Bergantin again the same 2 weeks next year Can't Wait

Went there from 15th September to the 25th. I understand people have different expectations and opinions, but I am a tad bit confused with those who had bad experiences at the same time as I was there! The staff couldn't be any more helpful. The hotel was very clean and tidy. Excellent choice on all inc drinks at the bar, with generous measurements. Didn't see a single bit of trouble at all. Plenty of variety with the food, especially for the hotel rating and price! 2 decent pool. The entertainment team were very bubbly and tried with pool tournaments, water polo, water volleyball...but you'll find those moaning about the entertainment were those who didn't get involved! In the evenings, you shouldn't expect the best, 3* hotel entertainment isn't going to be world class in all honesty is it? you're in Ibiza...go enjoy the wonderful island !! .. But if you do have to stay in, as I did on two occasions, I found it to be very enjoyable. I saw a parrot show followed by a dance act called "tramps" who I found to be very entertaining. Can't speak for the rest of the nights as I was out, but surely if in Ibiza you'd want to be out and about too?

All in all I couldn't fault it, other than the very thin walls which make you think someone is in your room when in fact they're in their room having a quite chat down the far end of the level above you. Maybe I'm too easily pleased, maybe not, but if you for whatever mad reason don't find the hotel to be what you want it to be, its in a fantastic location to be able to get out and enjoy the island anyway.

Would recommend this hotel to everyone. Families and couples especially.
