“Not as bad as I'd feared”
Reviewed June 13, 2012

I had read a lot of the reviews on this site and was worried about staying here. The hotel was booked by the organiser of our stag do for a 3 night stay all inclusive. Personally I always prefer to spend that bit extra and go for a 4 star but there were a couple of us going who were on a tighter budget. We were looking for the lively nightlife of San Antonio's Sunset Strip and West End but without having to be in it 24/7.

Overall, I found the rooms to be clean and certainly no cockroaches in them, although mine was a little on the small side for a double room. The rooms have air conditioning, with the remote needing to be collected from reception for a 10 euro deposit. The room also had a safe for 4 euros a day and 10 euro deposit. There was also a TV which I didn't use. Had a great view from the balcony overlooking the pool and the sea, though many of the rooms faced other buidings.

The food was what I would expect for a 3 star hotel in Ibiza. It was quite edible but there was a lack of variety. being only a 3 night trip this wasn't a problem but I certainly would have got fed up if staying for longer. Personally I would have preferred a bit more in the way of traditional Spanish food, but I expect the management are trying to cater for its mainly British clientele. The breakfasts were certainly the best of the daily meals. Some of the reviews mentioned that there was nothing but biscuits and pasties for lunch, but I'm wondering if they realised these were available all day and that lunch was in the main restaurant! One thing that really did annoy me though was that one of the staff grabbed my shorts without warning to see if they were wet as I entered the restaurant. They weren't, but I made sure I changed into proper shorts after that!

The drinks were all served in plastic cups as already mentioned and you could only get 2 at a time. I would have preferred having glasses in the evening but to be honest it really wasn't an issue. There was 8 of us in all and every time someone wanted a drink they would get one for someone else.

The hotel was quite noisy and you could hear some conversations in the rooms next to you as well as TV's and shutting wardrobe etc. I am a very light sleeper, but to be honest I didn't find this as much of a problem as my neighbours both seemed to go to bed early and get up late. However, if you are not keen on staying up until dawn and you have people next to you that do then you may not be too impressed.

The hotel is located near to a more family friendly area of bars, restaurants and theme pubs. A boat taxi to the main part of San Antonio ran every 30 minutes until 10pm from the jetty 5 minutes away, and was a 10 minute taxi journey from the West End once the boats had stopped.

I think this is a great hotel if you are looking for a short budget break with friends, but would probably be more for those in their mid to late 20's and up looking for a more relaxed base rather than the younger crowd who would probably prefer somewhere nearer the lively West End. It's probably not great for a family holiday though, as entertainment for kids was scarce though we went out of high season.

Overall I was quite happy with the hotel considering ts 3 star status (probably would be considered a 2 star in the UK), but then that is what I was expecting. To sum up I would recommend this for groups on short trips who wanted to avoid staying smack bang in the West End but who were happy to indulge in San Antonio's nightlife when it suited them.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the north side of the hotel, overlooking the pool and sea.

We stayed at the riviera from 17th/25th may 2012, we were originally booked to stay at the calais de ibiza apartments but these were under renovation and not ready so we were shifted to the riviera which we were not to pleased about to say the least, riviera is an all inclusive hotel which is both good n bad, i suppose if you are all inclusive its not to bad but the self catering option is not ideal as yo have to put up with groups of hens and stags who to be fair on the whole were ok apart from a party of middle aged fellas from doncaster who were loud beyond belief both through the day and when arriving back at the hotel in the morning after their night out between 5/7 in the morning, there was no respect for anyone at all, they say the young kids are the noisy ones in san an, but these men were pathetic it was like they had not ever been away with a group before and had been let of the leash, there was no way we were going to stay around the pool for the final 5 days of our holiday with them around, lads if any of you read this you were pathetic, i have done 3 stag doos in san an and i havnt came across behavior as sad as you lot, it did mean that we got to go to cala bassa beach which is great and also cala tarida beach which is v good as well, the bus outside the hotel takes you there for 2.80 euros each way and takes about 20 mins so very worth it to get away from the numpties around the pool, (to be fair there was some very decent young groups around the pool who were no bother but the particular group from doncaster spoiled it for most, the resort has more than enough bars and entertainment for most the famous west end is a good walk away but plenty of watering holes around the bay before you get there or the ferry across for 2.50 euros which is 5 min walk from the riviera, do the cafe del mar sunset its bril, for me though a hotelsuch as the osiris or hawaii or apartments la sirena or bellamar or ses savines are a much location to both bay and west end and have in my opinion a better feel than the riviera and that part of the bay, the staff at the riviera were fine but they should control the idiots who role in at 5 6 7 in the morning shouting laughing and carrying on, we were on half board and the food was not to bad, normal 3 star all inclusive catering, the rooms have a small kitchenette with the all important fridge, air con also ask for remote from reception and remote for tv also from reception. we did enjoy our stay apart from the aforementioned stag group, what iwould say is dont book in to a hotel self catering if it is an all inclusive, folk drinking all day, and it does get extra loud at times, all in all a good time had and those beaches i mentioned knock the spots of the beaches around the bay to be honest. PS I DONT WANT TO KNOCK THE GENERAL STAGS AND HENS AS I HAVE DONE IT ALL MYSELF BUT THERE WILL NORMALLY BE ONE GROUP WHO SPOIL IT FOR THE MAJORITY LIKE THEY DID FOR US.

Room Tip: High floor at he back of the hotel away from the noise of incoming stags and hens

hey ,

so we booked this over the internet , looked at the photos and reveiws and thought looks good ( i never complain really and i also never set my expectations too high ). So we turned up and spoke to a girl at reception long black hair , our room was ready , so we filled in a form and she took a copy of our passports and then we got the room key and blue wristband :D Fab up too now cant compain , When we got to the room everything was clean and about 80 can of airfreshner so the place smelled fresh , easily sorted just opened the balcony door and within 2 mins we could breathe :D:D, we then enterened the bathroom to find 2 cocroaches in the bath , so when then thought fine different country , so killed and flushed down the toilet. So we went down to the pool again clean , after a few days of going up for drinks 2 small cups with ice , no drink really the bar staff started to get cheeky , but we smiled and carried on. the same food is on every day , breakfast , lunch and dinner , dinner also started at 7.30pm omg far too long considering the lunch stopped at 2.30 . i felt that and so did other guests. most people in then hotel excluding my self and friends , took ill because of the food and when the complained the reception gave them a blank look as if to say they didnt understand but most of the time there english is fine , but it was all not bad , it was not okay nor good , we could stand it. On the last day we sat at the pool and then it came to the end of the day just before dinnner the time was 7.45 but the sun was still shinning from the heaven and you could lye out until about 8.30pm weather was so good , but me and my friends went away to get dinner and left our stuff at the lounger and so did most people when we came back out all the lounger were packed up and my towel was lying there my jeans , pants and socks and wallet were at reception but my 2 phone and ipod were missing when i said to reception they did not understand again so i asked round and asked reception who cleans up and they could not help me . so they holiday worked to be the same as thailand. would not go back and neither would my friends , I WOULD RECOMMEND THE BLUE STAR HOTEL ITS SELF CATERING BUT ALL ENGLISH STAFF , GOOD SIZE ROOM AND GREAT FACILITIES , SAN ANTONIO BAY IS REALLY QUIET AS WELL BUT THIS SUITED US AS WE OFTEN WANTED PEICE AFTER A GREAT NIGHT OUT IN THE WEST .XXX

Room Tip: stay at another hotel , like the blue star as out friends stayed there and it was great

Dear Kyle S,

Thank you very much for your comments which help us to improve our services.

We have changed the schedule of the room, and dinner is 19 to 21 h. And the pool schedule is 10 to 20 h, since after 20 h we put in motion the process of cleaning and pool chlorine.

The reception staffs all speak English and Spanish, including a receptionist speaks German, but we will try to improve it.

We hope to see you again on your next holidays.

Best regards,
The Management.

The hotel is just as you should expect for a 3* hotel. The rooms are absolutely fine, however they do have very thin walls so you can hear everything! The pools are lovely, and having the outside bar is brilliant as you can keep going up in the day for drinks. The food is very similar everyday, but is always nice e.g pastas, fish, meat and chips. It's situated in a perfect place I thought, as it's far enough away from the strip/ bars so that it's not so noisy, but also only a €7 taxi drive to the strip. It was perfect for me and my sister as we only went for 4 days and went for the partying which it definitely catered for our needs! It is hotel where there are lots of hen and stag dos so I wouldn't recommend it for children . For the price we paid it was worth it !

We moved from Piscis Park hotel after being faced with lager louts, noise from evening through to early hours - having 3 kids I would not recommend. We were quickly moved to Riviera Hotel after speaking to manager who could not be any more helpful. In no way can I fault The Riviera Hotel. The staff were so friendly, the manager here was also so helpful. The food was fab and the pool area, rooms and cleanliness was all top class. I look forward to my next trip, and hope to stay at this hotel if it is not fully booked out - a credit to Ibiza and San Antonio. 5 stars

We are really sorry that you leave the hotel with that bad impression and apologize for the inconveniences that we may caused to you.

The late check-out service is always on request, you must ask in the reception on the same day of departure and it is subject to availability of the hotel.

This hotel has been the worst service I've ever had. The two thimbles of drink you are allowed at any one visit to the bar is rediculous for an all inclusive hotel. The staff constantly swore at women who approached the bar. The food was disgusting and as a result I have ate/drank at a pub called scooters directly opposite which is good food, good drink and great value for money

Dear Craig T,

We want to apologize for the inconvenience during your stay. In the bar we serve plastic cups because it is forbidden to use glass in the pool area.
We have never had any complaints from the bar staff, but as we take all comments very seriously I will pass on your words.

I would also add that we have a wide menu in the buffet which includes pasta, rice, salads, meat, fish, cheese, soup and various desserts.

Finally we would like to apologize again and hope to visit one of our hotels in the company so you can enjoy your stay.

Best regards,
