Hotel San Remo
Reviewed September 22, 2013

After reading the bad reviews me and my friends expectations of the hotel were low. When we arrived at the San Remo we were told we were in the sister hotel E'stanyol which was fine we didn't mind. We were in room 223 and had a lovely view of the sea and across the bay to San Antonio which at night looked fantastic all lit up!! We were supposed to be in room 105 on the ground floor but when the male receptionist heard us coughing as me and my friend had been ill the week before he moved us and it was a good job as when you walked past these rooms to get to the bar it smelt damp so we then realised why he moved us.

The room was basic but had everything you needed and the most important thing was it was clean and very spacious.

The restaurant felt more like a canteen but there was always something to eat. Breakfast you could have cooked bacon, sausage, boiled, fried or scrambled egg, cooked tomatoes, cereals, croissants, selections of pastries or toast. Lunch and Dinner there were burgers, pasta, chicken, fish, vegetables, fresh bread, salad, chips, curry. We never found a day where there was not something that we wanted to eat.

The staff were friendly while we were there.

The beach was lovely and right next to the hotel.

All in all we had a good stay and i would return to this hotel and recommend it to people who want a budget holiday to Ibiza.

I would say that this hotel isn't really suitable for families as it does get noisy at night with people coming back in the early hours (us included!!) and the pool area is small and never gets any sun.

There was also a stag do staying in the San Remo hotel from Glasgow while we were there, if anyone knows who these guys are i would be grateful if you would get in touch with me, as i met one of them and would like to get in touch! They were staying in the hotel between Wednesday 19th September - Wednesday 26th September!

I was nervous about going after reading all the reviews but on arrival it was actually quite enjoyable! For a 3-4 star I don't know what else people expect?

My boyfriend and I stayed for 3 nights. The transfer from the airport felt like forever so when we got to the hotel we were keen to get settled. We went to check in and the reception lady sent us down the road to the sister hotel, Hotel E'stanyol. We just went with it, we didn't bother questioning anything as we were just fed up at this point. When we got there, the receptionist was ok, not the friendliest. They have a luggage room you can leave your bits until check in at 14:00 so as it was 13:00 we just walked around the town to get to know the area for a bit, grabbed an ice cream them came back for 14:00. We stayed in room 427 which is top floor at the side of the hotel but still a lovely view of the beach. It was cleaned daily but I think all they did was make the bed and replace the towels. We had walked sand in so that had spread round the room and it was still there. We ended up keeping our shoes on every time we walked in as it was just sticking to our feet etc. that was annoying.

Food was good, loads to choose from just quite bland tasting, different options everyday. Chips and rice was always there. Fresh french stick and bread rolls. Croissants with jam and a range of desserts. They had a coffee machine and a machine with a variety of fruit juices. Also a fizzy drink machine so you could help yourself to fanta, fanta lemon, coke, diet coke and coke zero. This was at the restaurant.
At the bar, you can get a hot dog upon request and there is a fridge just by it that has a variety of sandwiches and salads you can take whenever. Also a basket of fruit, little tubs of nuts and little individually wrapped cakes and doughnuts. The pool area is non-existent. It's in the shade all day so the water is freezing and there is nowhere to lay apart from the corner which was pretty crowded so if you want a poolside holiday I wouldn't stay here.

There is a beach just outside the hotel that fills up fast, its not very big. It's lovely to relax and catch some sun. There are men and women walking around trying to see you sunglasses, purses, bracelets and hair braids but they are polite enough to leave when you decline. There are water sports a little further up and also the stop for the water taxi that takes you to San Antonio for €2.50 it goes every half hour and the last one is at 12:30 at night.

There are a few bars and restaurants as you come out of the hotel. One had mini golf which was very enjoyable with a few cocktails and a selection of arcade games. We spent a lot of time there. There is a bar called ULI that has free wifi you just need to ask them for the code when you get a drink. We ate in there on our last day as well it was lovely. The other restaurant we ate at was Castites, it seems dark and dingy from the outside but the food was 10/10. More quality over quantity in a good way, I would definitely recommend it.

On our last day we had to check out at 11. It's €25 to have your room until 17:00 but you have to ask on the day you are leaving and they will check if its possible. We didn't bother as there is a shower room you can use which they provide fresh towels for and the room where you can lock your luggage so it suited us. The only annoying thing is your drinks and food were then chargeable as they cut off your bands, our transfer wasn't until 22:00 so we just purchased a few bottles of
water and snacks from the local store.

Overall the hotel was nice and I would go back.

My wife and I booked for five days and everything was brilliant, staff were very friendly and helpful, food was excellent different every day and plenty to choose from, location was fantastic, rooms were cleaned everyday, rooms are well furnished,
The only thing I must disagree with at the San remo is the day of checkout your all inclusive wrist bands are taken of you at 11.00 a.m this did seem to annoy a lot of guests, our flight wasnt until the early hours of the next day so we could not eat or drink in the hotel without paying we went else where which was a shame as we could not fault anything else. I do think the hotel need to revue this policy as no other hotel we have ever stayed in take your bands of you.

booked with super escapes yes I was panicking because of bad reviews the company had, but all went plan sailing..hotel was great for what we needed. food spot on, fantastic med views, room ok staff very helpful. wouldn't recommend for older people more of a young free and single hotel..overall a fantastic budget holiday I would defo book with them again...if you want five star treatment then book with a blue chip company not a budget one...remember you only get what you pay for...

so i booked this hotel then looked at the reviews and was so worried, there was no need too, if you want a family holiday it may not be first choice ( i really don't think this part of ibiza is right for kids at all no matter where you stay!) The hotel was clean, the cleaners were really friendly and even cleaned my flip flops bless them. All the staff were great, the rooms were big! amazing view of the bay .. great bit of beach outside. walk able to the pubs and clubs! we did not find it noisy at all, entertainment was basic but i did not go to Ibiza to play bingo i went to enjoy the nightlife! plenty of drink. food was OK, im really fussy and still found something. We had a great time and will stay there again next year. Ignore the bad reviews these people have nothing better to do but moan i loved the hotel! you got what you paid for would recommend!

After staying in san antonio with my friend earlier in the year, i decided to book a hotel around in the bay.. i would go back to this hotel. It was only about a 25 minute walk around to the busier part of the west end. Our room on looked the road(wish we had a pool/sea view). as the bar across the road was quite noisy untill about 1am, which didnt matter to us so much as we out of the room at that time anyway. The room was cleaned every day, the animation guy was friendly and did well for only really being him for entertainment. Only a one minute walk to the beach. Food and drinks were fine there was quite a big selection. We were up early every day to put our towels down at 9am(opening time). Cant really fault this hotel at all. :)
