Apartamentos Playasol Riviera
Reviewed June 21, 2012

we flew with jet 2, who i highly reccommend.myself husband, daughter and 3 granddaughters.
after reading this hotel was good for families, i was surprised to see
so many groups of boisterous people, who did not behave to well.
however we got on with our holiday and enjoyed it.
we stayed in apartments on an all inclusive basis, the rooms were very dated, but sufficient, we had clean towels twice in the week, but the sheets were never changed at all.
the food was not the best, on 2 occasions we ate out because the food was not acceptable.
the pool area, and bar were good, but spoiled by the behaviour of some of the guests.
in previous reports on this hotel i read that the bar staff were rude, i would be rude too if i had to put up with the abuse they were given by some of the guests, i would say it was the staff of this hotel who deserve praise.
stag do,s and hen nights are what this hotel caters for, not families.

Room Tip: if you want space then opt for an apartment

This was a cheap last mintue all inclusive for some sunshine for 7 days. We paid just over £100 each for all inclusive for 7 nights & got great value for money. There was a great choice of food if you're willing to try things & don't expect British cuisine. Fresh salad for every meal & on the right day the bread was warm & fresh. Snacks available with beer, wine & cocktails 10am - 11pm. Two clean pools, sunbeds a bit worn but usable. Apartment had 2 twin bedrooms with 2 bathrooms which really helped with the four of us & a small kitchenette for tea & coffee, 2 balconys & a terrace.
Games facilities like poole, table tennis etc.

All the reviews seemed decent when it came to booking the hotel in June so thought we'd give it a try for the price we paid, bad idea!!! Wanted to ring and change it a week before departure!! Originally we booked for 2 people but added a 3rd person in August, on our reservation sheet it said 3 persons, they had 2 down so I agreed to stay in a separate room as they would add another bed to the supposedly 3 share studio the next day. There was not enough room to swing a cat in the studio! Rang our tour operator and they moved us to an apartment eventually (for an additional £50 mind) but we paid it just to get out of the cramped studio.
The apartment we were put in was on the ground floor and had a trolley outside the bedroom with the cleaners equipment in it. Every morning they were there talking as loud as possible. (Even worse the few mornings we got back from Eden and Space closing parties at 5am!!) By the way entry to clubs was around 40 Euro and Drinks 9 - 16 Euro!!
Swimming pools were clean until the last couple of days but you had to get up first thing to get sunbeds that weren't broken!! We ended up with broken ones some days so it was a case of sitting on them carefully and hopefully not falling through them!!
Couldn't comment on the food as we were SC but the opinions were mixed from lovely to awful from those who were AI!!
On the 4th and 5th day we had thunderstorms and there was a powercut at the hotel, we still had electric in the apartment but there was no cold water supply in any of the apartment blocks and couldn't flush the toilets, nice!!! Everytime we went to ask at reception they just said 1 hour, an hour later still no water!! They said the powercut resulted in cutting off the water pressure to the apartments, it was 24 hours until it was sorted!! The woman at reception was in a hurry telling us this whilst being on the phone to someone about a flood on floor 2!!
Never ever again would I consider staying at this hotel!!!
Regarding the resort there is not much to do in San Antonio Bay but we stayed there to be away from the hustly and bustle of San Antonio and quiet (The cleaners made sure this wasn't the case!) A couple of things I would recommend is Peppers bar and Relish restaurant, although they relocate to ski resorts over winter. In San Antonio the view of the sunset has to be seen from Club Savannah and we had lovely meals at David's and Villa Mercedes (a bit pricey though!)

We stayed in the Riviera Hotel Apartments from 07th - 13th August 09 and I have to say that we were pleasently surprised.

The staff at the hotel were always helpful and polite, some of them were friendlier than others but none were rude or unhelpful.

We stayed in one of the appartments, it was a great size, and quite adequate for our needs. It was clean and well maintained. If i have to complain about anything it would be that the cleaners only came twice in the week we stayed.

The food was ok, something different each evening. Even our fussy 8 year old found something he could eat each night. No one starved!!

The pools were both very nice, there is one salt water one which tends to be refered to as the adults pool, although children are allowed in it. The other was where the fun and games were, the kids tended to use this one. Both were clean, the edges of the smaller one could do with some maintenance, as the filter was broken in a couple of places. Nothing major tho!

The area was relatively quiet, away from the main hub but enough bars etc to try out!

There didn't appear to be much entertainment of an evening at the hotel, we were half board so went out at night, but was a bit boring for the all inclusive guests.

One tip which I picked up from another reveiw on Trip Advisor was to ask for the Air Conditioning remote Control, €10 deposit - refundable at end of stay. Definately worth doing as the nights don't tend to cool down a great deal. The staff don't volunteer this info, so remember to ask!!

All in all, we had a great holiday and enjoyed out stay.
